Just nonchalantly,
That’s not gun shots, it’s my roof.
Then never misses a hit on the troubleshooting. 🤣
Love watching your video’s Mark! Lol
Outstanding job on the fix!
This helps a lot with my 86 SX that has this death wobble.
🤙
You have a great Channel and a great way of teaching. Thanks for keeping all of us kids from the 1980s entertained and inspired with our own projects!
Thank you so much 71code72, i learn a lot of this with the audience, i hope to show kids and adults mechanics are not that hard and you can do it too.
That machine is immaculate
It was an honor to get to work on it. Truly the nicest one i have ever seen.
Beautiful bike , had an 83 84 85 atc now an 86trx 250-R....love honda
Much Respect 🤝
I just cant hold on to em anymore 😪
Nice diagnosis. Since I'm the shop tire scrounger and decide what gets recycled and what tires go on the "good used" rack for ourselves or budget minded customers. The front tire is my usual suspect, on some 4 wheelers too. Keep up the great work.
Love the ATC's and the mechanical/fixing advice /demonstrations are some of the best parts of your channel.
Thank you for the feed back, sometimes its hard to know whats working and whats not. Thanks for watching.
I enjoy your troubleshooting. Your thought process is a good logical development. (My first thought was that there was water in the front tire)
I have that same tire on the front of my '85 250R 😂
Fortunately mine rides smooth. In fact, ive never heard of anyone having death wobble on a 3 wheeler. But now that I have, im sure my front tire will catch on fire tomorrow or something hahah
Great info, thanks for sharing! My tecate has a little bit of death wobble. I am starting with front shocks as they’re blown, one feels worse than the other. I’ll also inspect on the front tire and the other things you mentioned.
Sound like a plan, its not always a front tire, i wanted to explain some of the other options it may be. A weak fork would certainly cause sterring issure. Thanks for watching.
Great videos! Glad you followed up on this. A serwa tire would of been sweet. Nothing beats a stock front tire.
Yes sir, serwa makes a great reproduction tire, that would have been sweet.
riding death wobble makes men into great men
I had a 86 250R it was the fastest amazing ride ! Selling it was one of my worst regrets ever !
Hey camshaft. We all have stories of the one that got away, its just part of life. But you could always get another one
Now that i have watched the hole video i am glad you fixed it. God Bless my friend.
I would have never thought a front tire would do that. 62 and still learn something everyday
I would have expected a bump may be but never a wobble like that. Thanks for watching.
Bravo 👏, bien trouvé 👍
Je n'aurais jamais pensé que ce pneu avant était la cause 😮
J'aurais plutôt pensé que la fourche était tordue, ou un problème de suspension à l'avant.
Beau diagnostic 💪
Continuez comme cela !
Gave you a like as soon as I saw the My Cousin Vinny movie clip 😂 love that movie
Good deal. Been waiting for this video to come out to see what you found. Your right everyone asks questions but never a conclusion.
Thanks Andy, yes that was very frustrating while looking for a cure for this machine. Thats why i took the time to rule out everything i could to hel the next guy. It might not always be a tire, but this video will show them how to check the most common problem areas. Thanks for watching.
I can change tire with my manual one in 10-15 minutes but my old man probably changed 500k tires in his life and showed me ways to make it easier. Still way harder then machine I wish I had one.
Enjoyed the video. It was interesting to watch & learn through the process of elimination. Hands down that is a great looking machine.👍
Thanks Scotty and yes it is, im just hknoered to have gotten the chance to work on it. I want to make a video that addressed all the possiable options, so some one with no knowledge to figure out what and why there machine was acting funny. I hope i did that.
great video, i've got a big red with just a tiny wobble. Not bad. gonna have to look at the tire and check for roundness.
I had that same problem with my big red 250 when you let off the gas going fast Ended up being the front tire just needed some air
I am just going to say I know you fixed it but the first time you moved the front tire I could see there was something Wrong with that tire
I would just like to get it running back in correct condition and properly.
The knobs on the front wheel wear more on the back side due to the braking. The front side of the knob just rolls over the ground but the back side bites in when you brake which causes it to wear more.
If you use your front brakes a lot. It will take a lot of braking to make that happen
All cast metal usually breaks a before it bends. I work on golf clubs and bending cast heads is a real risk and it’s hard they usually move very little or just break. Nice forged irons are easy to bend and have to be checked especially if the player drives through the ball into ground a lot. Either way they should be checked once in awhile.
I put new front tire on my 200x and it still does it some but I can still run top speed on pavement and not be worried. Mechanics know process of making proper diagnosis. Glorified parts changers keep throwing parts at something until either the customer or they’re out of money or they get lucky and fix it and if not it goes to a real mechanic who changes a 10 cent fuse to fix it😂
The irregular wear on the tread of the tires is from riding it on the street
I have a 86 Big Red with the same problem, when i can i will swap tires and get back with this. Had a feeling its my tires, didnt ride before the new tires were installed.
You talked about the wear of the tire and how it looks on the lugs of the tire and how they're wearing weird, it's just a thought, but if that tire was used before and put on the Wheel the wrong way meaning for part of it's life it was going one way and now it's going the other way, that could have something to do with it. If that makes sense especially if they hit something hard with that font tire and it's got a bit of a hump or a wobble to it side to side when that tire comes around and off that hump if it's got a bit of wobble to it, may jerk the handle bars out of your hands that just my thought on it. One way to see if that's the problem lower the tire pressure in the front tire and go ride it, make sure it's lower than it should be, but not flat. I'm just throwing something out there.
Its very possible the tire was mounted the other direction. I think it jas set and developed a flat spot and that is what may have caused the issue. But its just a guess.
One of my big reds is so bent the front wheel sits 3 inches to the right of a centerline straight machine and it rides very stable especially at high speed and it had bad neck bearings with bent rear wheels. It slightly pulls left at a consistent rate at low speeds and never had a wobble or even death wobble. It looked immediately from the clips in tue intro to be front wheel related my guess would've been front wheel bearings. It being a isnt the worst but its more than a bearing set. At least the customer wanted it changed anyway so they weren't out more.
@@mrcbuilds thanks for the content. Your video on diagnosing honda 3 wheelers for no spark helped me revive my big red.
Front tires wear like that in the middle doing wheelies on the street seen it a lot on dirt bikes was told it’s from when it the front tire comes down
Could be hard to say for sure, this being a used machine, its certainly a possibility. Thanks for watching.
You fix it with the right hand. Hammer down the throttle same way you fix trailer death wobble you accelerate out of it.
The tread wear is normal for hard surfaces likeroad wear. Tractors do the same thing. Are the forks twisted? Seen motorcycles due this when out of line from one being twisted in clamps
If shocks have different air pressure could possibly cause some weird effects.
I thumper, welcome to the channel. Yes a shorter or weaker fork could cause a whole mess of problems. These forks are not filled with air, but build there own oressure, you bleed off that pressure with the Schrader valve.
usly it the front tire bad due to sitting flat or the inside of the tire is tore. also i had a 250r . with new forks but the frame was bent at the steering due to a wreck it had i never knew about .
Yep, these things are 40 yrs old and we have no idea of there history, paint can hide a lot of sins. Thanks for watching. I was happy it was just a tire.
Hello there sir. MCBuilds. Is there a Facebook I can possibly connect with you for later questioning and opinions. I currently have an 86 handa atc 250r and ur channel is most relevant to the questions and issues i have trying to get mine back up to par after sitting in the garage for more than ten years with a broken carrier bearing.
Another great Video🤘🏼 i have the same machine, mine smokes like nobody’s business though (32:1) that one doesn’t, my jetting??
Presonally i like the smoke, i worry when they dont. This is a new build and a very tight engine. You can safely run 40:1 if you want, you may see a little power increass too. Change oils, they make smokeless oils. I use motul 710. How long jas it been since you did a topend?
I can try to switch it up with the oil and ratio! Only 8 hours on complete motor rebuild. Figured I would buy a 38mm AirStryker Carb from Eddie Sanders Racing. Way to Rich so I dropped the main from 190 to 170 and it runs great now but still boggy on the low end and smokes like nobody’s business. I haven’t touched the pilot jet. I apologize for the long response it’s just that one runs so crisp and I’m jealous lol. Wish I could upload you a video
@@Dr.Yamahacheck your air/fuel screw when at operating temp, if it’s located on the air filter side of carb try 1/4 counter-clockwise turns at a time to add a little more air to the air-fuel mixture and see if it likes it and calms down the excessive smoking. If more than 2 to 3 turns out you may want to start dropping your pilot size down. Idle to 1/4 throttle is your pilot jet, 1/4 to 3/4 is your needle jet and 3/4 to full throttle is your main.
Make note of the number of turns out the air screw is before adjusting by counting the number of turns it takes till all the way in, gently nestled, don’t over tighten.
I just recently brought back my 200es back to life and unfortunately discovered a similar problem, someone had to much fun and bent a rear axle. I’ve been debating taking off the rear diff again and attempting to remove the axle for replacement. Anyone have any suggestions or cautions for this job. I’m kind of hesitant to go into a one year off diff that’s 40 some years old.
You may just want to swap the whole diff and axle out as a unit. If your in the southeast look me up on FB. I have a couple.
Good diagnosis brotha! Just to say that rim looked slightly bent as well....? Hard to from watching it on screen. But just a heads up. 👍
Thanks Ricky, i thought going through the process could benifit others too.

Most definitely! And yes it's funny that your squaring it up when it's a triangle! But you are most definitely squaring it up a true 90 degrees! Thanks for all you great vids keep on doing what you're doing!💪
My 350x did that before was the tire from sitting
Another thing is moving the forks down in the triples reduces that. If you move them up gives you better turning but a better chance of high speed wobble
Since this video was made/fixed, the owner has reported back to me, he was able to ride this machine 70mph with no issues.
I bet that tire sat a long time flat or near flat, enough heat/cold cycles and it sorta re molded the tire if that makes sense?
@@billwilliamson9842 that could very well could be the reason.
