  • "There's strength in arches" - it's some of Joe Wilkinson's best Taskmaster moments, including the famous potato throw controversy of series 2.

    ------------
In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

This video isn't showing the absolutely heart-wrenching brutality of how Greg and Alex setup Joe after the potato task. It doesn't show him on his knees begging to be redeemed. And it doesn't show the palpable sense of guilt on Greg and Alex's faces when they realise "shit, we've taken it too far".

i have to be straight up here, the first cut we see Joe throw the potato, the tip of his shoe was ABOVE the red green.
had his shoe actually been ON it, it would have caused some movement where it touched since it's basically a rug - and i don't see any tug movement.
that camera perspective from above was more misleading ...

I loved Joe on the show. You’ve had a best of the best Taskmaster, how about the best of the worst? Joe and Phil Wang come immediately to mind.

Eliza S Yes! I love Nish as one of the contestants. Great idea! Joe, Phil, Nish and just a few more maybe Rose? We definitely need one or more of the girls. They were great value.

The amount his toe stepped over the line and the size of the hole compared to the potato would not have actually made a difference, that justification for voting against him was savage.

Come to think of it, there's a strong chance that, were Joe not wearing shoes, he actually wouldn't have overstepped. His shoe touched it, but not his toes.
