I am literally a Motown Baby from Detroit (Mom was an exec: we moved to California in ‘72) - because of her publishing background, I learned to listen and appreciate every part of music. This music has so many amazing parts and It is so clear that you GET IT with this instrumental! By this what I do here it is more important to HEAR as to PLAY. You should practice to play by Your ear. Try to play easy melodies by Your ear, the try to reproduce harmonies. First by easy pieces, then some day more difficult. And try to hear analytic. Focus on separate melodies in music . Try to define the instruments. It is acoustic piano or electric? Synth bass or bass guitar? What kind of synth pad is there (knowledge about sound synthesis is also important). I hope I could give You some tips for ear excercises.
