    Fascinating will read book. Not sure I agree with Emma on rationalism.

    I would respectfully disagree about slavery not being noteworthy or uniform during Athenian democracy. The Persian empire, which was the Greek States arch-enemy, were also the first empire or ancient state that abolished slavery. It stands alone in the ancient world in this way. And the slavery that existed in sparta, is itself an unique illustration of a kinda slave state. It is a worthy topic, it is less noteworthy than the first recorded democratic experiment, but still.
