thanks Todd! I've recently stripped the paint off this Firefly as I was never fully happy with it, so stay tuned when this model makes a new appearance complete with track add-on armor on the upper hull in a few weeks!
Awesome looking Firefly Shane! The stowage really adds a lot to the tank and you're right...I don't think I've ever seen a photo of a Sherman without any stowage on it! It's just part of the "Sherman" look I guess you could say. I've always wanted to build an Asuka/Tasca Sherman because I've heard so many good things about them and I think I'll go for this kit now! Hopefully I can find it for a reasonable price :) Thanks for the show and tell
thanks Ev ! the only photos of Shermans with little or no stowage are USMC Sherman's operating on the Island campaigns , but I agree its very much part of the Sherman's fiber to be packed with stowage adds a lot of character and like to the model :)
the firefly is the coolest one of all the shermans :) i like your model very much! the stowage adds a lot of visual interest and realism. very smooth priming coat you achieved there :) it is great to see you enjoy this so much, keep going mate!
hahah funny you should mention that, I too am looking for the Tulip launchers to do a ColdStream Guards Firefly IC with them, its beginning to look like I may need to scratch build them when the time comes, but as for this kit, it is well worth a look if you can pick one up mate :)
thanks mate, I am inclined to agree too, only in unique situations is it any benefits such as people who make nothing but dioramas and want to have suspension react to uneven ground but even then its always needed
Excellent work ! I've got one I started 10 years ago but still haven't finished because of the individual track links. I'm in full agreement with you on working suspension parts. I'm not familiar with those decals. Do you know if they do and other Irish units, like the Enniskilling Dragoons, perhaps ?
the Irish Guards belonged to the Guards Armored Division during the war along with the Cold Stream, Grenadiers and the rest. So a decal sheet for the Irish Guards from a tactical markings point of view is easy to come by, as for other non-Guard Irish Regiments like the Royal Irish or Enniskilling Dragoons I am not too sure, best bet is just to punch a google search with the unit and scale and see what appears I would be surprised if there was nothing
Shane, cracking review, I was just wondering why you prefer to paint storage on the model instead of leaving it off. Also, would you mind doing a tutorial on painting stowage? I love you're simple and concise introductions to figure painting, they helped me out a ton.
so it really depends on the items of stowage, if it is for example a big resin block of traps ect I will normally have to blend the bottom of the traps with self made traps of putty to ensure that the stowage doesn't hover on the model, so that means having to sometimes to glue everything to model, but other things I paint separately, it is really just down to what suits the modeler I can do a stowage painting tutorial next time I working on suitable project!
great little build and a cool breakdown of an Asuka model. in your opinion this kits the best out there for a firefly, I need to know because I've built 16 Shermans, and the firefly is one I need, I have Asukas jumbo Sherman, just waiting on my panda worn t 48 tracks with duckbills. it's nice but it does have some issues, but like you said mileage may vary hahaha. I really like the look of dragons firefly. but Asukas small details are really nice, let me know. i hold some opinions high on the chart of do and don'ts, yours is one of the do's. again great build.
thanks Clayton, and I shall try to give you best advice on the subject, from what I've researched regarding the Firefly kits out there, the Asuka's are the best in terms of accuracy and quality of build with the Dragon kits a close second, but I would go with the Asuka personally
One of my favourite tanks in World of Tanks. Been a fan of it since I started reading books on Normandy in the 80's.
its a pretty cool machine indeed, one of the few that had any hope of knocking out the big kitties
Excellent Review and Build Shane. Keep up the Detailed work and Videos. Always a TREAT!!!!

Excellent one buddy! Tempted to get another Firefly and turn it into a Firefly Tulip, big gun and those rockets just look menacing....

Same here....I've seen a 1/35 scale conversion to do this one, but I can't for my life remember who it was! lol

Lovely kit Shane and a nice one for the home side
hahah Thanks John !
Nice build Shane. You're 100% right about the workable tracks and suspension. For the most part it's a complete waste of time.
thanks mate, I am inclined to agree too, only in unique situations is it any benefits such as people who make nothing but dioramas and want to have suspension react to uneven ground but even then its always needed
Great report Shane
Looks like a lovely sharp kit, not keen on rubber band tracks myself but sweet.
thanks Paul normally I am the same when it comes to rubber tracks but these aren't too bad
Great progress shane.
