    “The founders of Benefit, Jean and Jane Ford, created their very first product, Benetint Lip & Cheek Stain, as a nipple tint for exotic dancers in 1976 in their small shop in San Francisco. Yup, the product that's now perking up everyone's lips and cheeks was originally intended to make the nipples of the dancers in the Mission District stand out a bit more. The Fords boiled rose petals and carmine to produce the red stain after a dancer requested something to make her nipples more prominent. The woman loved the concoction so much that she gave a couple bottles to her fellow dancers. And the rest is beauty history.” -allure

    I would love to see a video of ur favorite sunscreen products ! Maybe even for different purposes like glowy ones, best for under makeup, blurring, good for sensitive skin, ones that don't smell like sunscreen, ones that have different textures like hydrating! I've been wanting a new everyday sunscreen but there r so many to choose from and I rlly trust your opinion! 😁😁

      I really like the Beauty of Josen Relief Sun it’s $10-$13 depending in where you get it, SPF 50 +, it smells like nothing, and won’t leave a white cast. I live where the humidity is 60-90% daily and this one doesn’t feel goopy when it’s hot and humid outside. I wouldn’t say its glowy but it has that nice k-beauty hydrated look without being shiny.

    Really appreciate your save or splurge videos. I have stopped watching other dupe content because I am tired of the lazy and repetitive comparisons for clicks and views. I think this series speaks to your knowledge, expertise and dedication in teaching your viewers about just good quality and long-lasting makeup without a clear bias towards one price point or another. Price point matters to the consumer, of course, but I have wasted more money on drugstore 'dupes' so I appreciate just a straight up honest viewpoint.

  • @kellygreengables3936
    @kellygreengables3936 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Love this series!! I think a compilation is better than individual vids for each product! Also on the Jones Road balms: I think it's targeted at mature (~40 years+) skin, which needs less heavy product. A lot of influencers trying it are young and don't have the skin/needs of the consumers Jones Road is targeting and imo is part of why it's not popular.

    @HannahLouisePoston has a great video about all the Jones Road products but the miracle balms in particular. I think they started making a lot more sense to me when she described their products as for someone who is not really a makeup user/lover and who is a little scared of cosmetic products. Thinking about them that way makes the whole line make a lot more sense to me.

  • @regisfilia
    @regisfilia 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Appreciate this vid! I agree that in the long run sometimes the splurge really does save one money over a "drugstore" brand. And anymore it's pretty easy to blow 15+ bucks on a drugstore product anyway so something that is twice as much but is more satisfying to use seems like a better deal overall.

  • @gabriellenichole3445

    • @kellygreengables3936

      I totally agree. Imo "dupes" usually work best for who can't use the original product, can't always splurge on makeup (maybe teens/young adults), or just want to try something at a low price before "committing" to the higher priced product.

    • @sarahferguson0
      @sarahferguson0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Sometimes when you factor in stuff like longevity or formula, the high end can be a better deal. Another thing is color selection. My brows are a weird combo of color and nothing in the drugstore will really match me.

    On the Jones Road website there is a video of Bobbi doing someone's makeup and she uses the miracle balm under her What the Foundation formula. And that's when it really clicked for me. Everyone's description of the product sounds like a tacky primer with a bit of color correcting/smoothing tint. She spread it all over the face before foundation, and I'd love to see what reviewers say about it used in that way because I don't think it was ever meant to be a blush.

    I love the fatty dewyness that the revolution balm brings to my super dry mature skin 😅... I have so many layers of super active stuff underneath, i truly dont need my cheek paint to be "skincare" per se... I just want it to look and feel good. And i dont want it to cost loads for a bit of dew. And maybe I appreciate some variety from day to day just for the fun of it. So now i have the entire collection (almost) all the colors for 30 bucks all in all. Which is less than one Jones Road balm. (Used to use the Weleda super food on my cheeks. So this is a step up for someone like me 😂)

    Right there with you on the Whoa Glow - I dislike it less than I dislike the Glow Screen, but I truly loathe the Glow Screen. The eye sting is a little less bad, it's less greasy, and the mustard effect is slightly less severe on my fair skin. Nice that it's readily available in the US, but you're absolutely right: just buy a J-beauty sunscreen instead. Better protection, better cosmetic performance, more affordable.

    I’d love to see a video about skincare products & burning eyes. No one talks about it except to say a product burned their eyes. No matter how careful I am with skincare products or how little I put on my eyelids the product ends up getting in my eyes & burning or irritating them so I just end up not putting any skin care, not even lotion on my eyelids. I just don’t know what to do.

    I personally LOVE the makeup revolution balms and I hated the Jones Road. First of all the jones road tin is WAY TOO BIG. I ended up scraping half of it out and selling the other half on poshmark. I wish they were half the size. There's no way i'd use up that product in my whole life. The makeup revolution smells better to me, and the shimmer isn't overpowering. I got magic hour from Jones Road and its just a glitter bomb. I can't use it its so glittery but the MR one just has a light sheen. The price difference is also huge too. Jones Road is way overpriced and again if it was smaller and cheaper it may be more worth it, but I can't justify trying another one.

    Have you tried to laura gellar baked blushes? Id love to hear your take on them. Ive been going back and fourth for years deciding if i should splurge on one. And now unfortunately i dont see them on ulta anymore. I would love to see a video with like their baked n brighten foundation, and their highlight. The highlight dosnt seem as intense as most. I always put my highlight under my bronzer and blush bc i want it to look like its coming from within. If tried the essence and its a little to dark for me. I think both supposed to be similar to the laura mercier baked highlight. I dont mind ordering off their website but I really which theyd come back to ulta so when i make my staple purchases I usually will try something new.
    As always i love how in depth ur videos are. You have broughten me over to cream and liquids. The only thing I usually do my makeup on the go and tend to use powder bc im so familar. But on weekends if i go out i love playing with creams and liquids. Hopefully as i practice i get better.
    Also your eyeshadow preference that’s what really brought me to ur channel. With everyone loving warm tone everything. Im very pale. And a toapey brown makes my blue eyes pop. And i can mix pinks and desaturated pink/ mauve to get a warmer look.
    Sorry when i comment i always rample and end up writing a novel. But Amanda keep doing what ur doing ur channel is unique elegant and something i always look forward to watch :)

      Amanda's friend, Kackie, also did a review of Glossier makeup and skincare products just last week. Interesting to watch the differences!

    Benefit’s Benetint was invented for a stripper to put on her nipples. When the owner’s mom & aunt opened the original store in San Francisco, a stripper came in & requested a product that she could put on her nipples to make them more pinky red so they could be seen better by the men in the audience. 😳
