These chicks took about 12 hours to hatch once the pip (the tiny hole in the shell) was first observed. Watch closely and you can see the chick in the second egg starting to work its way out of its shell too.
Soooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do penguins need my help and what is the donation asked for? The only things penguins need are: control of the emissions of oil and petrol from the boats, not fishing their food, not hunting them for putting them in zoos.
Hi Lau Ra. Our conservation and research work focus on pollution and its effects on penguins. In particular we study mercury that comes from combustion of fossil fuels (mostly from automobile engines and coal-fired power stations) as well as incineration of waste, and causes a wide variety of health problems in all seabirds. You’re absolutely right, penguins do not need help foraging for food, but they do need their environment protected so they can continue as sustainable populations, especially as this pollution is now reaching the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. Welcome. I will always try to help penguins. Some years ago I helped working in a place cleaning them from petrol contamination. Where is your conservation and research work? It is so sad what you say, Antartica was the last place of the world free of contamination.

I am from Uruguay and in my country every year we have penguins in our coast because of petrol or deseases because of lack of food or cold, I am at echologysts groups in my country so as to help wildlife and a reserve to help the penguins and other birds and ocean animals is a lack we have. I will check your web site, it interests me. The more we are to help nature, the better it gets.

Seems that penguins have similar nesting grounds to maiasauras' and iguanodons', since their ancestors are dinosaurs

My heart melts during this clip. I do sometimes wonder what it would like if a hungry Polar Bear came running through that colony. I know they are in the north pole and penguins are in the south but still, that would be fun to see
Polar bears are only near the North Pole. Penguins are only south of the equator. I think seals are the primary predator of penguins. They nest in gigantic colonies which decreases the risk to any individual even though the seals get some. Seals are part of the ecology, too, so they must get some prey or die.

I knew it! They have the signature white swim goggles that are so unique. Just wondering, is there a difference in markings between Emperor and King penguins? I’m only able to tell which is which by their height.
@@Imaperson-ow1wr they do but I can’t remember, I think they have some orange that the emperors don’t, but I don’t recall for certain. Like at the back of their necks it’s really orange for a king penguin right? And an emperor has orange that fades into a white.
