Can you please let me know how much difference in the old rear end you had and the new upgrade you did in Pennsylvania shop, how is that reflect on the road,?? Thank you
I love what you are doing ,,,so many people wish for your life and you are a great man and I must say It was very nice to see Michelle in one of the pics .... Please continue on and be safe in your travels .... Mike Shoemaker Natures Resort Homosassa Fl we love your channel !
I was actually just down there to assist a buddy of mine that was racing in a 250 mile race but came home yesterday because the race got cancelled. Due to the cartel violence. First time I've ever had that happen in all the years I've been going down there. My favorite part of the peninsula is the middle section. Love the San Juanico area and the little fishing villages south of there. One day I plan on building a rig like yours and heading to Baja and points beyond. Safe travels!
Glad to see you back and looking well, we started to wonder where you had got to. Will be watching next tuesday for the latest update, stay safe stay traveling, best wishes from the UK.
Good to see you're alive and well! "Stuck in Baja" - what a Story to tell even your grand children. And congrats on buing a KTM! That was my first Bike and still is my favorite. Stay safe and keep on truckin'!
Nice to here from you again .. Yep i'd say you were stuck.. How has the truck performed other than sink'n Still work'n on mine Take care and be safe out there Rich Dunlap
@@drivetheglobe For sand recovery you can bury a tire (exhausting) or use a "dead man anchor". I contacted them and they said buy 2 to get enough pull power. Last option is giant stakes roped together known as a picket line.
Well, considering the truck wasn’t budging an inch it was pretty safe really. Ha ha, in america it would probably be considered unsafe- but then again nowadays going outside alone is considered u safe😂
Hi Mike. I only made it through half your video. I have been watching video journals made by explorers who are travelling across the Baja. I myself have travelled the Baja twice from central BC to Cabo on a motorcycle. I purposely did not journal my trip online because to me these places are almost sacred. My first time out here was 20 years ago and some have come for the winter even before that. There have been a few books written about their adventures and you can see on the pics that this place was a lonely paradise back then. For those of us who love to get out of the way and who love nature to crawl up their noses and into their hearts it has been a very sad thing indeed that the internet has destroyed that isolated secret place. I don't expect you to understand that. This winter was shocking. The hordes of vans and campers that flooded into these places, due I believe to the broadcasting through travellers such as yourself, was very disappointing. We watched while people used the edge of the beach for a bathroom, made stinky fires with the wrong kind of wood, kept others up half the night and parked so close to each other that it looked like they were afraid to spread out. Van cities sprung up overnight. I picked up their garbage after they left. I sadly have to accept that the next generation, the starlink generation, will be showing everyone how beautiful it is here. Or was. I will have to find some other haven of rest, but I will keep it a secret. And by the way. When will you actually drive the globe? You have made very few miles since you started. You were in one spot for 5 months. Where will you rest next?
I have to say, I spent the whole winter in Baja this year and have a very different perspective. Agree with you if you stick to the "gringo" areas. But I travelled throughout the peninsula - in fact rode the Baja Divide by bicycle and didn't see a single van in any of those places. The reality is- post covid there are MANY more people living on the road- and will be going forward. If you think Baja is bad visit a US National park. As for driving the globe, I continue to- been on the road 3 years now. With covid, and then shipping issues and a closed route in Asia now it is tough- but I am in no rush.
@@drivetheglobe yes you are definitely dealing with a huge amount of weight. I was thinking the way you've got that thing tricked out, there might be a winch out there ( and you'd be the guy to find it) that would move heaven and earth lol Happy trails buddy
Nice to see an update! In 4 weeks I will drive Amsterdam-North Cape with my 1965 Unimog 404 😃
Sweet! Let me know how that goes!! Best of luck, safe travels.

Truck is doing great. No issues so far. Thank you. Will be posting more truck stuff soon.
Darker surface in a sabka is a sure flag to not drive there. Glad you got out. Safe travels.
Yes it is! Thank you.
Were you aired down on the CTIS?
I was aired down from the ctis.
Does that rear diff have a locker? I have one for mine, but mine is a M1088 6x6.
Mine does not have a locking diff
Michael, please would you share the name of the shop you installed the gears and 260A alternator?
Not actually a shop. His name is Bryce. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004330515707. He travels around the country doing the gears for people.
@@drivetheglobe cool, did Bryce also had the 260A alternator ?
@@charlesrg wil mingione. Pawn King Stratford
CT. Has the alternators I believe. Bryce and his buddy installed it.
@@drivetheglobe know Will, great guy. Will reach out.
What additional kit did you add to your truck to self recover in the future?
Working on a winch mount now, although in that particular situation self recovery would be impossible.

Great video and truck. Just subscribed looking forward to your adventures 👍👍
Thank you, appreciate it
Looks like a nice place to get stuck. I have been stuck in some very pretty places myself.
Ha ha, at the time no place is fun-but after it is all OK. It was beautiful.
What alternater did ya end up putting on? Thanks
I put the big 240 amp one from a newer truck.
Mate, now THAT is proper stuck! How much does your rig weigh?
Ha ha, yes. proper stuck!!! It weighs just about 22k US pounds.
@@drivetheglobe about 11 tons then
@@dudeleboski2692 yes, when fully loaded with water and the motorcycle.
Did you fix the damage to the truck in Baja when you got stuck? 😤
Most of it I fixed in camp. Still a few dents in the front of the truck and I have to replace one of the underbody boxes.
TODO EL VIDEO HABLANDO MADRE MIA
Lots of talking
What have you learned from the experience?
Avoid the dark sand like areas! Ha, and the truck is pretty heavy. Although I have had it all over a bunch of beaches and sand is not really an issue.
Will you equip (winches, cables, soft shackles, traction mats) before the inevitable next event comes along?
Good to see you on Doodles!
Operator error. Shit happens.
Yep, it sure does
Isn’t little kids under a massive truck a bit, er, dangerous?

Where in the hell have you been? 😤
I'm back!!! 😀

Why have you not gon All EV and save on gas.
Ha ha. Good luck with that full time on the road. Not there yet!
Ok...I'll ask , no winch?
Nope. But I will say the 125,000 lb which from the tow truck didn’t move it 1/4 of an inch. So I’m thinking winches might be over rated.
