Not only am I voraciously consuming your videos, but for the first time in my life, I'm excited about math. Who'da thunk it? Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
This is exactly the same as normal equation solving. You just used another notation. I don't really think it makes things any faster, you still have to know how to inverse the operations. You can solve all of them fast and without much effort using the "standard method". (5x - 8) / 3 = 4 5x - 8 = 4 * 3 5x = 4 * 3 + 8 x = (4 * 3 + 8) / 5 x = 4 It's all just basic algebra.
Nice explaining, my teacher goes way to fast in math so I always like to learn it at home. If I don't get something in the video, I can keep going back until I understand.
4 seconds is about right! I do it in my head, and it takes me about 4 seconds, sometimes 3, sometimes 5, depending on the length, that is, the number of operations in the equation! Thanks a lot for this trick!
Teachers in school make it so difficult by taking students through steps theyll forget, and during a test they cant take notes, so they fail because they didnt remember the long steps. Your explanation is very good.
Im in my 80's, and have been learning some of the stuff I could never understand when at school (or since). How I wish I had, had teachers of this guys ability. PLUS, this is the first time I realised, that Square root is the opposite of squared! thank you
During the pandemic, my maths teacher was infected by the covid 19 and what's worst is that we're unable to answer questions about algebra since nobody teach us to do so. Then i stumbled upon your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Thank you so much, damn my teachers teach my a whole different way and I couldnt get it right and we both were frustrated... now you just helped me ALOT thanks so much!
*THIS COMMENT IS BASED ON MY OPINION* I think I have to same problem too. I don't understand my original math teacher but I understand this guy. I think it's because of the screen. You see, a few people will pay attention to their screen then in class.
I love your accent and I love you man! This old girl is trying to prepare for the MCAT and you just gave me some hope. Thank you so very much. I'm literally crying. Thank you!
tecmath Hahaha! Nice replied, that is really far south of England ;) However, cool video man. Got to love that accent, hehe. It is unusual not listening to Americans or British people talking on youtube.
tecmath I really find what you are doing to be awsome! As for the haters and to smart for their own good people,"ignore them". I have learned a lot from you. Thank you.
Came here to refresh maths memory to prep for the army. Seeing it can be this easy, you make me confident mate. It reminds me how I used to do it, for example 1: (3X + 5)/7 = 2 Knowing that 2*7=14. So: 3X + 5 = 14 --> - 5 3X = 9 --> /3 X = 3 Thanks for taking the time to make such videos, sir. Keep it up! We recruits need that LOL
Watching your videos for the last two days. A few videos showed up in my YT feed. None ever taught like this. As I don't do maths in my profession nowadays, but if I remember these, will definitely teach others hopefully.
You tube and its great teachers allows the poor to access the best teachers which at one time only those benefitting from private education had access to.
Always good to see this stuff being taught. I remember as a kid I never understood algebra for ages, until a teacher explained to me that 'Equals means the same on both sides'. Before then, it was taught to me that the question, formula or problem went on one side, and the answer stayed on the other side of the equals sign. No one ever explained to me that I was allowed to move numbers from one side to the other of the equals sign for a really long time. As long as the equation made sense I could move the numbers wherever I wanted, and it was only my final answer that needed to academically written as equation = result.
8:08 Even looking at these now, the use of a square root still catches me out about where it should be used when doing the equation backwards, because it gets drawn in front of several numbers. I keep wanting to work out the square root of the numbers before anything else, treating it like brackets.
x^2 = 9 Take the square root of both sides | x | = 3 Then, It’s either x = 3 or -x = 3 As a shortcut, we do this : | x | = 3 x = +_3 So that’s why, x^2 = 9 x = +_3 There are missing steps as a shortcut, but _/9 is always 3, since the definition of _/ is the principle root
That was great unfortunately my short term memory dictates me watching it over and over again to get it to stick, however, that was very easy, just not easy for me to remember. Great job
I found algebra the hardest topic after watching simintiously equations and this video your my life savior so badly if i had a credit card i would pay all my tuition fees on you!
I am 18 years late to this video but thank you. This is the first time I've experienced joy learning algebra. Why didn't we learn this method in school? If I have kids in the future, I will definitely pass this on.
I really don't see the problem? You just need to bring both sides to a common denominator ( (3x+5):7 = 14:7 ) then just throw it away ( 3x+5 = 14 ) and you get the usual linear equation -> 3x = 14-5 -> 3x = 9 -> x = 9:3 -> x = 3 This is very easy and takes no more than 5 sec to solve. Maybe in US you people were taught a different way of solving this?
I think you made these easier to understand than how my public school teachers taught me. Sometimes it's just the way you are taught... I went from remedial Algebra to the top of my class in Calculus in college. 🤷♀
I've learned more in 4 minutes in this video than my whole semester in my high school algebra class

(THUMBS UP) :)
In 5:54 the answers are 3 and - 3. Thank you for the video. I always did that instantly and it's nice to see another perspective.
I really just watched 3 videos and didn’t understand it but you were straight to the point and didn’t go in circles so I understand it Thankyou sm
This is exactly the same as normal equation solving. You just used another notation. I don't really think it makes things any faster, you still have to know how to inverse the operations. You can solve all of them fast and without much effort using the "standard method".
(5x - 8) / 3 = 4
5x - 8 = 4 * 3
5x = 4 * 3 + 8
x = (4 * 3 + 8) / 5
x = 4
It's all just basic algebra.
Agree.
Only people who aren't good at maths think this is genius
Good luck convincing my math teacher of this. You do it differently than they taught, you're marked wrong.
Melita de Rond He’s doing the exact same thing that was taught. People who understand this but not their teachers are just not paying attention.
You can tell your teacher that you are genius if you learn this
Nice explaining, my teacher goes way to fast in math so I always like to learn it at home.

PLUS, this is the first time I realised, that Square root is the opposite of squared! thank you
Mmh
Thank you Bruce sincerely Nemo!
actually this is the how normal of solving algebraic questions I think
Yeah he just made it for weak students
Harsha Shah more like special ed students lmao
During the pandemic, my maths teacher was infected by the covid 19 and what's worst is that we're unable to answer questions about algebra since nobody teach us to do so. Then i stumbled upon your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Better youtube than school because it teaches than how school teaches
Problem with that is if you did that in an exam you'd fail for not showing your workings correctly.
That is so true
this guys a freakin genius he belongs at Harvard or something
nice job unwrapping the order of operations here
when you done that evil equation with the root, you sounded like a child on christmas morning :) thanks
Starting to understand my high school math all over again. Needed a refresher 😂
My goodness...I love you!! I left so many college credits on the board because I kept flunking the math! Now I have hope I can go back and finish my degree.
Thank you so much, damn my teachers teach my a whole different way and I couldnt get it right and we both were frustrated... now you just helped me ALOT thanks so much!
why the heck can i understand you but not my original math teacher like jesus christ.
Mindy Hills 😂😂😂
I'm the same way too
BECAUSE YOU WERE NOT MATURE AND FOCUSSED
Idk about you but I have a hard time understanding mine because whenever she teaches it sounds like she is talking in a sarcastic "ur dhmb" voice
*THIS COMMENT IS BASED ON MY OPINION*
I think I have to same problem too. I don't understand my original math teacher but I understand this guy. I think it's because of the screen. You see, a few people will pay attention to their screen then in class.
OMFG why did my math teacher not teach me this way!!!!! i have always had trouble with equations until now omg thank you so so so much!!!!
You are the absolute mathematics master. You talk at at great speed and you have a lovely friendly voice. Thank you :-)
I love your accent and I love you man! This old girl is trying to prepare for the MCAT and you just gave me some hope. Thank you so very much. I'm literally crying. Thank you!
1:15 wrong! there is missing a bracked
Before i really hate Math, but now luv luv luv, thank you for this vedeo more vedeos please!!!
Which part of England are you from?
South.....really far south.......(in Australia!) :)
tecmath Hahaha! Nice replied, that is really far south of England ;)
However, cool video man.
It reminds me how I used to do it, for example 1:
(3X + 5)/7 = 2
Knowing that 2*7=14.
So:
3X + 5 = 14 --> - 5
3X = 9 --> /3
X = 3
Thanks for taking the time to make such videos, sir. Keep it up! We recruits need that LOL
Watching your videos for the last two days. A few videos showed up in my YT feed. None ever taught like this. As I don't do maths in my profession nowadays, but if I remember these, will definitely teach others hopefully.
This is awesome!!! Thanku so much sir! :) never thought, it could be done in this amazing way....so happy...😊😊
This video is amazing! I loved the giggles 😂
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but in the problem you worked from 4:15-5:54 there should have been 2 solutions. x= -3 also works.
Thanks mate. I remember understanding it, but then writing out copious working out to show something I could see.
I solved this mentally in my head before he started solving it...
Is this working out acceptable for marks in tests?
TheCowzy it depends. If the question is only multiple alternatives, yes.
I remember one time my math teacher said, "Algebra...is your bruh."
What 😅
A MathPug ad pops up saying are the videos really helping? Yeah. Tecmath’s tricks are real handy
Sir your tricks are really helpful 😊👍
√9 = +3, -3
Am I right?
yes!!
that is the principal root
yes you are right, plug it back in and it still works so you are right
Yarubiks66 Just because it works doesn’t mean that _/9 = +_3, yes the solutions are +_ _/9 = +_3 but the square root of 9 is just only 3
x^2 = 9
Take the square root of both sides
| x | = 3
Then,
It’s either x = 3 or -x = 3
As a shortcut, we do this :
| x | = 3
x = +_3
So that’s why,
x^2 = 9
x = +_3
There are missing steps as a shortcut, but _/9 is always 3, since the definition of _/ is the principle root
I love this guy i lewrned this in 5 mins and in school i take loke 1 hour or more
i can help you in maths maryam2129iiui@gmail.com

Gabe Newell took you 10 years to learn how to english
That was great unfortunately my short term memory dictates me watching it over and over again to get it to stick, however, that was very easy, just not easy for me to remember. Great job
I found algebra the hardest topic after watching simintiously equations and this video your my life savior so badly if i had a credit card i would pay all my tuition fees on you!
Took me one time to watch one part that is 10 seconds I feel like the second Einstein
you are a freaking genius!!!!!!!!
and you're a freaking nerd

Dear Algebra,
Stop telling as to find your X,and don't ask Y
Ning Ngi Ning Ok!!! Getting a lil old ya think!!!?
Copy cat
ok how old
Where was this guy 40 years ago? TH-cam would have been nice back then! Better late than never though! Thanks!
I am 18 years late to this video but thank you. This is the first time I've experienced joy learning algebra. Why didn't we learn this method in school? If I have kids in the future, I will definitely pass this on.
I really hate algebra it's cause of my stress and give me alots of problems with every day.
THIS IS MORE EASIER THAN GETTING THE LCD
I really don't see the problem? You just need to bring both sides to a common denominator ( (3x+5):7 = 14:7 ) then just throw it away ( 3x+5 = 14 ) and you get the usual linear equation -> 3x = 14-5 -> 3x = 9 -> x = 9:3 -> x = 3
This is very easy and takes no more than 5 sec to solve. Maybe in US you people were taught a different way of solving this?
Because its less efficient with numbers that aren't integers
Solving Backwards
Im from India and i solve it your way... some people i the comment section said he needed 4 months just to learn this., lmao
I think you made these easier to understand than how my public school teachers taught me. Sometimes it's just the way you are taught... I went from remedial Algebra to the top of my class in Calculus in college. 🤷♀
I mean, this is how 100% of teachers teach this. The only difference is doing it all at once instead of in steps.
i have a maths test tomorow and this helped me so much thank you techmath.
Dear algebra
Stop telling us to find x
She not coming back
