A fence hack: get some 4’ pieces of rebar, spray paint them black & hammer into the ground in between each fence panel (after hooked together) & buy black zip ties & zip tie the fence panels to the rebar…that thing will not blow down… it will be solid. That wisteria will get very woodie it will take something like heavy duty iron to hold it up. It is a plant that roots continuously under ground. You will have it all over the place within a few years. I had mines for 10 year or better and had to dig them up. All over my just about an acre of property.. it’s beautiful but will smother other plants out. Just a little info for you. After digging it still took a while before I was able to get rid of all of it.
Hi Cathy👋 Thanks for your feedback. What variety type of Wisteria did you have? I’m curious. Sounds like Chinese or Japanese, the more invasive species. Fortunately my Amethyst Falls Wisteria Vines is perfect for smaller gardens. This gorgeous flowering vine grows slightly slower than the Asian wisteria. It’s considered as a non-invasive vine. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I will keep an eye on it for sure!
I love your garden and all of the beautiful plants. I love wisteria but I’m my zone 6 it is quite destructive and invasive. So I enjoy others vines from afar. New subscriber!
Wisteria is invasive and must be pruned to avoid affecting the rest of garden. My sister regretting planting. Buyer beware plant. Vines get thick, Tarzan would love!

@@PlantingLifeMatters really don’t remember, but this was over 30 years when I planted it. I wanted lots of pretty stuff in my yard. Well I love 💕 the grape like flowers so I purchased it. It was really beautiful for the first five years and like you I purchased a metal trellis but after a year or so it started bending and after about three years it had destroyed it. And the wisteria had started spreading all over the red tips. Well my husband stared digging one vine after another. After hurricane Rita it tore some of the trees and some of the plants also. But they slowly made their way back. But our last hurricane nearly 3 years ago took all the trees and a lot of the soil, so now we don’t have anymore. And my dear was happy to be rid of it. Just keep you eyes on them so they don’t destroy your beautiful garden. It is lovely.
