You might as well only have two multiplayer factions, one called "My Team" and the other called "Enemy Team." That way, nobody will get offended for seeing specific nationalities getting killed.
It really pisses me off that jets only have 5 weapons to choose from and only 1 option to do air to ground attacks. This is absolutely ridiculous, needless to mention that jets movement is garbage as well.

The frustrating thing is that when you're working on a project, you want to hear the criticism so long as it's constructive. When a feature is bad and you know it, having people compliment it even as you're trying to fix it makes you feel like you might be crazy, and even worse, if a feature you think is fine turns out to be bad or broken and nobody told you it really hurts.
The thing is - I am sure the boots on the grounds guys already are well aware of most of those issues. I mean think about it, who gets into game development in the first place? Harsh working conditions are well known, most of the coders will probably be paid reasonably well but it is not a job that will make you rich. So I assume most people getting into it at least at the start have a genuine passion for the craft. Furthermore, people who don't know what the doing mostly won't get into those jobs either, at least for the most part. I mean there is always company politics and shit, but that doesn't matter that much until you get to mid management level and above. So you have people that have a certain level of skill and expertise and at least initially have a high motivation too. I don't think any of them will be happy about the state of the game...and I am sure they also didn't say "Ah, screw this, I don't care I could fix it but I won't" Usually it's gonna be unrealistic expectations by superiors, deadlines that are too tight, not enough people/too many involved parties or whatever - people in positions to make decisions making bad decisions, essentially.
I'm surprised nobody's talking about dice putting objectives on rooftops. I want them to stop doing this. It runs the flow of the game and it makes people want to camp there. Not to mention being able to call in vehicles there.
My friend keeps telling me to get it. He says “we all found exploits that let you max out weapons and vehicles super quick by using game breaking weapons and stuff. You should get it!” So your selling point for me to buy this game to play with you is that “it’s broken to the point of complete exploitation? No, thank you!” Haha

Jumped right back on that horse (literally and figuratively) and it was so much fun dropping kits to the front line and poking in and out with sabers. Just go play that until this one gets into a better state. It's not going anywhere.

2021 was the year of constant broken game releases. Ladies and gents, I have been playing video games for over 3 decades....if you keep buying and supporting companies that release games in such a state, it will never end, in fact, we see it happening more frequently now. I miss the old days of gaming, before patches and DLC.
I have sympathy for game developers struggling to meet deadlines during the pandemic, but outright false advertising and taking away core mechanics of your previous games is just garbage and unacceptable.
It's sad that this game supposedly spent more time in the oven with taking a year off to develop and it doesn't show at all. It's a matter of if there was actual care during development because cutting so many corners despite taking more time seems like they pulled a rush job.
IKR? For all the negatives surrounding Activision, their games at least work. I'm not defending them in general, from a morality perspective, they're worse than EA, but every Activision game I've bought was mostly what was advertised and it functioned.

I remember when EA games released an awesome Harry Potter Quidditch game for the Gamecube, and sure, it was gamecube graphics, but it never lagged, had zero gameplay issues that I could find, had neat collectibles that actually did something, at least one free unlockable team, unlocked with those collectibles, and was all around a really great game! It even had good tutorials and button combos! "EA GAMES: _CHALLENGE EVERYTHING."_ The game's called "Quidditch: World Cup" and there were several difficulties of world cup you could actually win, it's a great skill-based one that saps up tons of time. And now EA is this.
Honestly, Covid fucked up alot of companies. Bioware I think, lost their b team and EA downsized. I mean shit, WWE is in the same boat. There is alot of companies that have been suffering trying to force games out when there no where near ready for launch. Companies want money. That's what it comes down to now a days. What I think. EA used to be an actually good game company, if overshadowed by nintendo, but then it gained its infamous reputation for pricegouging and Horrid dlc's, by earning that reputation through repetitive practice. The new trend for some of these "AAA" companies 1. Create a single A quality game 2. Spin the advertisements to get folks to think its a triple A or even quadruple A. 3. Charge $70.00 4. Act like everything is fine when people call out issues.

From the awful specialist system, to the lack of content, to the absence of basic features such as a scoreboard. Lackluster destruction, trash hit registration, vehicle/weapon imbalances. Yeah, they killed it. I didn’t buy the last one because they told me not to. It feels like this one was just blatant false advertisement with the trailer trying to bait old school bf fans into pre ordering…which I did…then canceled during the beta. They lost me forever this time.
My interest in this title ended when they decided to scrap the class system. As soon as I heard about the specialists, it wasn't Battlefield 2042, it was Black Ops 3 with vehicles. As if BFV wasn't a warning to future iterations of this series. My condolences to the players that bought this and have to deal with this madness.
i bought the game and barely play it. Its frustrating to play on so many levels. I have a long list of gripes. I wasted my money on the game but its not the first time i have done so. Good thing i have plenty of disposable income.

DICE calling a scoreboard a "legacy feature" implies they intentionally didn't include it... Why? Like, I can't even fathom the motivation behind that design logic.
It was already obvious monetization was their main focus the moment the specialists were introduced. Noone in the community asked for these, and pretty much everyone wants the class-system back. DICE is going the way of so many other good studios that were purchased by EA and it's just mindboggling how they themselves, through sheer incompetence and bloated egos, are killing one of the greatest MP shooter franchises that has existed thus far in the history of gaming.

in the second half, bullet spread is brought up a lot. Its not even bullet spread, its plain old bad hit reg, bf3 and 4 had spread, wasnt like this. Its probably caused by 128 players, we need a mode where the maps are cut down and the player count is returned to 64
Is it a KIND of bullet spread though, its just really badly implemented spread if it is. Tbh, I don't think the spread is even intentionally implemented its just that broken and how it somehow impacts weapons with recoil more than weapons without. Day 1 I was prone firing the M5A3 down the first magnified sight you got for it and i could literally see bullets flying off left and right a good 20-30 degrees either way. Hell, it might not even actually BE spread, but rather just aim assist going fucky when it shouldn't even be active/disabled, because I've had times when aiming at someone basically turned off all recoil for the M5A3, whereas other times I can barely control the thing.

I feel sorry for all those kids who will open this on Christmas day, it's sick that they would charge £60+ for this in this state. Battlefield 1 remains my favourite and the servers are still going strong luckily.
11:49 i'll say 128 is a GREAT idea. the only thing wrong is the map design. it is too large, too open, to DEVOIDED, combine that this 7,8,9 capture flags, it is just terrible. it should have been the same size map as previous titles but double the players for more action
I'm going to make a point here, EA demanded game prices to rise to 70 bucks and it did yet they released a more buggy broken mess than their previous titles that where only 50 or 60 dollars. It's like they basically said gimme more money so I can rip you off even harder.
At that point, the investment is no longer commensurate towards the consumers and should be dealt with accountability towards their bottom line. Or in other words, SUE THE FUCK OUTTA THEM.

Dwarf Fortress has endless content and an ancient community. Unreal World is the most realistic survival simulator and longest-supported game (according to Guiness) ever. Do I have to tell you how genius Dominions 5 is as a strategy game? And there's even more! Why bother with these fools??
DICE and EA threw this game together into a “playable” state, and released it to market for consumers to play test, instead of dedicated QA they would have to pay for. This is the norm from here on in.

A source I spoke with within a studio under Electronic Arts told me that the number one reason for the erosion of these games is that more and more, Producers or Leads, basically positions where experience and instinct are necessary, are given to people who're not only woefully underskilled/unsuitable but that these people possess sickening levels of sycophancy and are constantly firming up the stupid ideas that lead only to dollars, the choices that are ANTI, this whole phylum of the corporate world is a growing and influential one but is utterly indifferent to the emotions you feel when playing any game of theirs, or any game at all. The only time they stop to pay attention to us is when they look down to see what they've stepped in. We are addicts, and they know you can't get their stuff anywhere else. Madden. Battlefield. Star Wars. Etc etc. This is why they've yet to say sorry - not DiCE alone, but the ranks of this legion of fall-down douchebags that cause this hurricane of piss to rain down on us and also their bosses, overlords, grand masters, whatever. Someone will write a book on how the infiltration of these cretins eventually brought about the destruction of so many universes, lives and careers. Whether or not that book goes on to mention the Second Videogame Crash that I fear is building potential with all the reckless WASTE of time and effort spent scheming rather than coding. NFT's and whatever comes next - these people are playing with fire and everyone who isn't lucky or a scumbag is going to be immolated. Leaving us with nothing except some expensive lessons that we will never repe- HEY, will never repeat - no not allow them to inflate their own budgets and drag the rest of us along. The bugs are the least of this games problems, they removed ALMOST EVERYTHING that makes a Battlefield game. It feels like COD and Apex Legends had a love child. They could fix every bug/glitch in this game and it would still be a terrible Battlefield game.
This is what terrifies me. They could fix all those bugs in a longer span, and people would be once again on board with the game. And any further criticism is just "crying" and not appreciating their efforts, when in reality they just successfully removed the basic bread and butter which made the older games so fun. The fact they refer to scoreboards as a "legacy feature" says to me they are trying (badly) to get rid of the sense of individual contributions and want players to focus on the team. Good luck with that, especially since at the same time they remove lobbies and didn't include voice chat so teamwork is pretty much right out.
The huge problem with battlefield 5 is players not playing the objective. It leads to very unbalanced games where some play the game and others go for personal scores. But I think th eproblem is too deep to fix by hiding scoreboards.
This and many other stories lately have highlighted the need for an indie game development guild. Indie devs should be working together to overtake these decrepit cycorpses. Imagine a bunch of indie visual artists working together on the visuals for a variety of games, indie game designers laying out mechanics to fit the parameters of a variety of games, indie programmers coding out those mechanics, and indie studios coordinating with all of the above to bring together a vision. The public market can and should learn from the organizational tactics of these hollow machines, and breathe new life into them.

I still don’t understand how or why this happened with an extra year, two additional studios, raised the price $10, and cut the single player to focus on multiplayer and this is what they came up with? Like they weren’t even trying to half ass it because if they half assed it then it would’ve turned out miles better. It’s like they just started making it 3 months before launch.

The revolver bit reminds me of BF1. Does anyone here remember how that one gun would eject the right amount of unused rounds through the open slide? Or how the reload for the Nagant revolver was an entirely different animation when you completely emptied the cylinder? Or how the Lebel rifle featured the double bolt-pull? Or how the MG08 had a different animation for how much of the belt you'd used? Or how the pan magazine on the Lewis gun revolved and rattled? Or how the Mars Pistol practically exploded every time you fired? Or how some rifles would be fed from strip clips and individual rounds depending on how much ammo you added? Because I remember.
@@ink4852 I never uses the Mosin Nagant that much, but I'll have to look into that. My favourite one is that the guns that use black powder like the Carcano carbine and the Gasser actually have more smoke come out of the gun.
I'm starting to miss BF1 right now. Here I was hoping that this would at least be better than 5. The Mosin Nagant is one of my favorite rifles in BF1 and the Sniper Elite games. Part of me does wish I could shoot my own irl like I do in games.
Scoreboard, Game Chat etc were called "Legacy features" by DICE and they "promise" they'll bring them back. That fact that these basic features that are in every FPS multiplayer game are considered "Legacy features" is completely brain dead.

I’ve been a hardcore BF fan since Bad Company 2. I can remember going to wal mart at midnight to buy BF3, BF4, and Battlefield 1 because I literally couldn’t wait to play it. I’m dissappointed that this is the state of BF right now.. I played BF4 for a few hours the other day and was blown away by the amount of guns, sounds, and graphics. BF4 came out in 2013!!! We are going backwards!!

As a Swede and Battlefield fan, and sharing office with DICE in Stockholm, I'm extremely sad that this is the state of BF. Luckily I didn't expect much this time around and never bought it. I knew when EA bought them it would go to shit like everything else that has been suffocated under the EA umbrella.

People are using the "but me have fun" card as if it were an argument against the criticism, which only enables developers to keep putting out borked, unfinished messes of videogames because of people who applaud mediocrity. Whether or not you have fun with a game, you should always be pressing the developers to deliver the best product possible and be aware and acknowledging of flaws in things you play. Never, ever ever ever, allow devs to get away with things like BF2042 because "well but i had fun", or you'll keep getting more catastrophes like this, and it will get worse every single time. What we're seeing now is a result of players getting complacent years ago. In short, defending a poorly made product will only serve to bite you in the ass in the future. Subjective enjoyment and objective criticism can and do exist together; even if you like something, you can, and should, understand its flaws and criticise them, or the creators will never improve because they'll understand that they can keep putting in less and less effort, since people still buy it in troves and clap at it.
How hard is it to refine and improve ideas. Battlefield has its own identity and it doesn't need to be another game. As always blame the management because they areeople who will never know what actual work is like.
The sad part is when I go on Steam it's still on the 4th spot on the list of the top-selling games. It's rated as mostly negative, there's all of this negative coverage... and people are still buying it. I just don't get it. "This is stuff that is unprecedented in a Battlefield launch." Battlefield 4 says hello.
Because besides this guy trying to post negative videos 24/7 people will still buy have fun. I play on console it's there's a lot of bugs but the fun I'm having outweighs the bugs, now you think I'm going to let a TH-camr or anyone choose how I have fun.
The problem is, it's still fun, especially if you play with cool friends. Basically, it's like the worst, most unhealthy bag of cocaine-seasoned synthetic chips. The bag is 60% empty, it's horrific for your body, addictive in a way that'll empty your wallet, has zero production value, but despite it all, it's still chips. Buy em for the gang, and you can still have a laugh. It might be a dumpster fire, but even a dumpster fire is still warm enough for some.
BF4 was UNPLAYABLE at launch on PS4, but nearly all it's issues were server-related. Planes and helicopters crashed on impact in that game, and there weren't stupid specialists with custom class setups to ensure no one actually worked together.
I read a steam review yesterday where one wrote; I’ve had fun. Sure, it’s not perfect, but having fun is the important part. Don’t listen to the haters. Another one wrote; It’s got flaws, but there is this thing called updates! This game got potential With people like this buying every game while not seeing a problem with the broken games at launch trend we’re doomed and this scam will continue from the likes of EA. Why are we seen as haters because we demand that a game we pay 70-100$ for to work when we pay for it? Would anyone here be fine with a broken phone at launch and having to wait weeks and months for the company to patch it up? No. And neither would these hypocrites.

I only bought DOOM Eternal 1 year and a half after release, and I would say it's hard to argue that it's a bad game. People should absolutely be holding off from buying games this early, but hype and depression does wonders for capitalism.
People are just morons in general. I would get this kind of review for a 20 dollar game from an indie company, but a 60 dollar game from a multimillion one? There is simply no excuse, they just dont care , they will release the same game , with a skin, with somehow less things than the previous one and call it a day, and morons will still preorder the legendary edition.

I remember when you could buy a game disc and get the full game, fully playable, with optional DLC. Now a days, you get broken games, that then take half a year or more to be playable, content that is either restricted to a paywall or were removed only to add back later to sell to you. I despise with all my being day one updates. Make the game playable before the release date! I agree, gaming should not look to being the next Netflix or Amazon Prime with MFERING seasons, should've remained true to a solid release and possible expansions if successful. I also love how they fucked up Heli balancing, as Heli's have same height cap as Jets meaning 95% of time a Heli outplays a jet which is ass backwards, and you can literally solo dual seat an attack heli 100 miles in sky as the secondary gun is so damn strong and long range.

I don't get it either, I like to think they're new fans or uninformed consumers... but the number of people defending this game during the terrible beta had me concerned and confused. Many of them were longtime fans of the series and all they had to see was one brief trailer and their eyes glossed over with hype, even while participating in a clearly broken beta. I don't know, the Battlefield games are very close to my heart but I'm not insane enough to pre order stuff like this these days. The writing is on the wall and all these studios sell nostalgia instead of new and improved games these days. Hey, at least the average Steam user could see what's up, and with any luck a large chunk of them refunded this mess.

Battlefield with either get the BF5 OR BF4 treatment. I see it getting the BF5 treatment from fans and being forgotten as a mistake of a game compared to BF4 which had an awful launch but is remembered as one of the greatest FPS games in the 2010's
From all the trailers it looked like the wingsuit was standard kit, like the parachute, everyone had it. But that was from an earlier build, one from before they added 'specialists', when your character was just a generic grunt, like in every previous iteration of the series.
@Overlord Just rewatched the first reveal trailer and the first gameplay trailer. There is no indication in either that 'specialists' are a thing. I suppose I was seeing what I wanted to see, you know, a battlefield game rather than a hero shooter.

Gamers need to take accountability of their own actions. Sure, EA and other big companies have had very questionable policies and released sub-par products, but it is ultimately gamers that vote with their wallets. If they continue to financially support companies that have screwed them over and over again, it's really on them. Corporations will almost never react to your complaints, only their bottom line.

Honestly, the end of round voice lines are a non issue, its outside of gameplay, whats more important is the ingame voicelines, they used to be perfect in BF3/4 (and are present in portal mode), but are sorely missed in 2042

I'd really like to know why there's such a disparity between "official" reviews and "user" reviews, and how professional reviewers seemingly missed all these issues, largely saying it's just another great entry in the battlefield series. Even doing some looks at TH-cam reviews, official reviews from known outlets tend to say everything is fine, while independent "amateur" review channels pretty much all outright say don't waste your money on it. I'm always a bit suspicious of people's motives, but to me that screams industry payoffs or outright threats to influence review sources to give at least a passing score.

Yknow, there's something that's been bugging me about BF for years now, so this release prompted me to try an experiment: the goal was to try & find the exact entry for which BF stopped being fun for me, so I went back and reinstalled some old titles through steam/origin. For each game, I wanted to start with a fresh slate - only vanilla weapons and gadgets, no perks or anything unlocked...now bear in mind that I'd never call myself super skilled or even competent at playing online shooters, but to me that's one of the draws of BF: you don't have to be the best at killing people in order to make a difference. Anyway, here are some key stats (all estimated averages): BFBC2 number of times I shot an enemy first and was then killed by the same enemy: maybe 1/10? Average end of round scoreboard position: top 25% Fun factor (I.e. how much of an impact I felt like I was having on the outcome of a match): 8/10 BF3 number of times....: 4/10 Average EOR scoreboard: between top 20% - bottom 60% range Fun factor: 6/10 BF1 number of times...: 9/10 Average EOR scoreboard: dead last Fun factor: uninstall No intention of invalidating anyone else's opinion of a good time - just curious to see if anyone else can relate?
One of the most baffling things that I've seen regarding BF2042 is the review number on Steam going up by 10 000 daily. There is at least 32K new reviews since the game was already rated as Mostly negative, meaning all those people bought the game just to leave a negative review. I am amazed people waste money just to confirm that "yup, the game is bad."
It makes me really conflicted. On one hand, hey, it's their money to spend and if they can manage to have fun with this junk, good for them. On the other hand, it sends the message that EA can just keep putting out these unfinished products and keep getting away with it, and therefore there's really no way the situation is ever going to improve - Every following BF game is going to be on this same approximate level of quality or lower.

Learned my lesson from bfv not to trust 2042. Battlefield WAS my favorite fps franchise but I think those days are done. I realize bf4 had a terrible launch, but this feels different. Even without the bugs there's too many core gameplay mechanics that ruin the game. Bf1 will continue to reign supreme.
BF1 is and will always be garbage. As far as I am concerned there's old BFs, BF3, BF4, BFV and BF2042. 61 hours into BF 2042 and pretty sure the game is only going to get better. It actually feels a lot like BF2.
I think the main difference between BF4's launch and 2042's launch is that, while both games are in a similarly horribly buggy state, BF4 at least didn't also have a ton of just baffling design and balance decisions. It was basically just taking what BF3 did great and adding a few new features. 2042 completely turns the Battlefield formula on its head with all these awful design ideas that are totally antithetical to what makes Battlefield special, there are so many tonal inconsistencies that this supposedly distopian nightmare world where mercenaries are having to fight for dwindling resources has these dumb hero shooter characters and quips is just baffling.

People are starting to wisen up to what they are buying, gamers are getting older and soon they will feel the financial burden placed onto themselves spending on microtransactions every year, to catch back up to what they had last year. Between interventions towards addiction, wiser parents who know what their kids are getting exposed to, and government regulations towards these practises. The signs are there, and by EA themselves nonetheless. Why do you think they are fighting to their last breath against lootboxes being classified as gambling? They will literally be unable to adapt to a world where repeated microtransactions don't make up the bulk of their income, and instead of making good games, they will keep trying the same old standard, but with only sales to cover their costs. Without knowing how to innovate anymore, or even making good products at launch that will sell on their own merits: profits will fall, investors will sell, and it will snowball out of control and break the back of the AAA industry all on its own. Essentially, the upcoming regulations are what is going to cause the crash. They have become so comfortable relying on whales rather than sales that once you take the whales away, they will not remember how they used to make money and will stumble themselves into a pit of spikes trying to find their footing again.
2042 started out as an action-focused low-budget mobile port outsourced to EA Shanghai, then was reworked into becoming The Big Battlefield, quickly, and just as low-budget. CHANGE MY MIND.

Compare the dialog in this game to Halo Infinites, where even I'm PvP someone doesn't even have to place a marker to tell where an enemy is I noticed sometimes the other players Spartans are just like "Enemy below us!" Or "watch that Sniper" and it's incredible how many times it's saved my ass.

With the addition of operators into a game that doesn't really need them, I knew the game was aimed at monitization. I am 100% that operators will be sold in the future. This Bf game is clearly meant to squeeze as much money out of player as possible.
A classic example of the tail wagging the dog. This is what happens whenever the corporate entities within publishers get too much control over development teams and game direction. It must be so frustrating as a developer raising all of these issues about the game, issues and it's identity only to be told to pipe down and do as you're told. We've seen this so many times now with multiple different development teams and publishers. Developers should be making games for what the consumers want and not for what the publishers want. If you want to make an amazing Battlefield game, all you would have to do is go to the subreddit and look at the posts.
Halo Infinite is a great example of this idea of giving something a little extra love. 343 was like "Okay we screwed up 4 and 5. What did we do wrong" And rebuilt everything, reimagined everything. compared new to old. And created a healthy hybrid. Does it suck that cosmetics are paylocked. Yeah. Is it impressive that it's the number one complaint? yeah. (Second complaint being that the controller users have an edge with it's wacking aim assist which I believe they will tone down a tad)

I made a mistake at work last week and it was brought to my attention later. It wasn't a big deal and didn't affect anything but I still felt bad that I made the mistake. Now that I'm aware of it, will never happen again. We NEED to communicate in order to improve ourselves, both at work and in life.

When a feature is bad and you know it, having people compliment it even as you're trying to fix it makes you feel like you might be crazy, and even worse, if a feature you think is fine turns out to be bad or broken and nobody told you it really hurts.
The thing is - I am sure the boots on the grounds guys already are well aware of most of those issues.
I mean think about it, who gets into game development in the first place? Harsh working conditions are well known, most of the coders will probably be paid reasonably well but it is not a job that will make you rich.
So I assume most people getting into it at least at the start have a genuine passion for the craft.
Furthermore, people who don't know what the doing mostly won't get into those jobs either, at least for the most part. I mean there is always company politics and shit, but that doesn't matter that much until you get to mid management level and above.
So you have people that have a certain level of skill and expertise and at least initially have a high motivation too.
I don't think any of them will be happy about the state of the game...and I am sure they also didn't say "Ah, screw this, I don't care I could fix it but I won't"
Usually it's gonna be unrealistic expectations by superiors, deadlines that are too tight, not enough people/too many involved parties or whatever - people in positions to make decisions making bad decisions, essentially.

Bf5 is actually in a really solid place right now. Gun play, character movement, graphics, are all top tier.
I'm surprised nobody's talking about dice putting objectives on rooftops. I want them to stop doing this. It runs the flow of the game and it makes people want to camp there. Not to mention being able to call in vehicles there.
My friend keeps telling me to get it. He says “we all found exploits that let you max out weapons and vehicles super quick by using game breaking weapons and stuff. You should get it!”
So your selling point for me to buy this game to play with you is that “it’s broken to the point of complete exploitation? No, thank you!” Haha

Jumped right back on that horse (literally and figuratively) and it was so much fun dropping kits to the front line and poking in and out with sabers. Just go play that until this one gets into a better state. It's not going anywhere.

In a game I had this gem of a highlight: "throwables thrown 10" because I used 10 smoke granades. What else are you suppose to do with throwables.
They are the type of company that would make these features exclusive and make them cost money.
At this rate, being able to fire your weapon is going to become a legacy feature they'll have to add in.

I have sympathy for game developers struggling to meet deadlines during the pandemic, but outright false advertising and taking away core mechanics of your previous games is just garbage and unacceptable.
It's sad that this game supposedly spent more time in the oven with taking a year off to develop and it doesn't show at all. It's a matter of if there was actual care during development because cutting so many corners despite taking more time seems like they pulled a rush job.

I remember when EA games released an awesome Harry Potter Quidditch game for the Gamecube, and sure, it was gamecube graphics, but it never lagged, had zero gameplay issues that I could find, had neat collectibles that actually did something, at least one free unlockable team, unlocked with those collectibles, and was all around a really great game! It even had good tutorials and button combos! "EA GAMES: _CHALLENGE EVERYTHING."_ The game's called "Quidditch: World Cup" and there were several difficulties of world cup you could actually win, it's a great skill-based one that saps up tons of time.
And now EA is this.
Honestly, Covid fucked up alot of companies. Bioware I think, lost their b team and EA downsized. I mean shit, WWE is in the same boat. There is alot of companies that have been suffering trying to force games out when there no where near ready for launch. Companies want money. That's what it comes down to now a days.

EA used to be an actually good game company, if overshadowed by nintendo, but then it gained its infamous reputation for pricegouging and Horrid dlc's, by earning that reputation through repetitive practice. Luckily we still have the wondrous hidden gem indie devs coming around, like Team Cherry who made Hollow Knight _with four people._ *Four. people.* can make an AWESOME metroidvania with amazing art, cool upgrades, tons of content to explore, hundreds of secrets, amazing lore that goes deeper than the worldmap, and beautifully unique characters, most of which have their own stories and lives alongside your own, and just an amazing game whose final bosses are tough enough to frustrate the thumbsticks off your controllers and break you wasd keys. FOUR. PEOPLE. made that masterpiece; the big names have no excuse.

Now. That's the beauty of Hollow Knight, that's really EA's problem. TOO much EA. If Bioware and co, had no time limit, and make the game how THEY want, instead of that shity Frostbite engine, (which at one point state of the art. Now, not so much.) From the awful specialist system, to the lack of content, to the absence of basic features such as a scoreboard. Lackluster destruction, trash hit registration, vehicle/weapon imbalances. Yeah, they killed it. I didn’t buy the last one because they told me not to. It feels like this one was just blatant false advertisement with the trailer trying to bait old school bf fans into pre ordering…which I did…then canceled during the beta. They lost me forever this time.
My interest in this title ended when they decided to scrap the class system. As soon as I heard about the specialists, it wasn't Battlefield 2042, it was Black Ops 3 with vehicles. As if BFV wasn't a warning to future iterations of this series. My condolences to the players that bought this and have to deal with this madness.
i bought the game and barely play it. Its frustrating to play on so many levels. I have a long list of gripes. I wasted my money on the game but its not the first time i have done so. Good thing i have plenty of disposable income.

Modern day players can't handle seeing themselves in the middle or bottom of a scoreboard. It would be too offensive/ racist or something.
It was already obvious monetization was their main focus the moment the specialists were introduced. Noone in the community asked for these, and pretty much everyone wants the class-system back.
DICE is going the way of so many other good studios that were purchased by EA and it's just mindboggling how they themselves, through sheer incompetence and bloated egos, are killing one of the greatest MP shooter franchises that has existed thus far in the history of gaming.

in the second half, bullet spread is brought up a lot. Its not even bullet spread, its plain old bad hit reg, bf3 and 4 had spread, wasnt like this. Its probably caused by 128 players, we need a mode where the maps are cut down and the player count is returned to 64

Is it a KIND of bullet spread though, its just really badly implemented spread if it is. Tbh, I don't think the spread is even intentionally implemented its just that broken and how it somehow impacts weapons with recoil more than weapons without.
Day 1 I was prone firing the M5A3 down the first magnified sight you got for it and i could literally see bullets flying off left and right a good 20-30 degrees either way.
Hell, it might not even actually BE spread, but rather just aim assist going fucky when it shouldn't even be active/disabled, because I've had times when aiming at someone basically turned off all recoil for the M5A3, whereas other times I can barely control the thing.
I got the PS5 version and I can’t believe I’m wishing it got the console treatment of halfing the maps and player count 😂

I feel sorry for all those kids who will open this on Christmas day, it's sick that they would charge £60+ for this in this state. Battlefield 1 remains my favourite and the servers are still going strong luckily.

@@Mitchery I play it every night and always get a full server. If you select Conquest and base maps you 99% get into a full server.
Perhaps it was a timing or European server thing but I picked the game last year for 5 bucks and I struggled to find people to play with.

I'm going to make a point here, EA demanded game prices to rise to 70 bucks and it did yet they released a more buggy broken mess than their previous titles that where only 50 or 60 dollars. It's like they basically said gimme more money so I can rip you off even harder.
At that point, the investment is no longer commensurate towards the consumers and should be dealt with accountability towards their bottom line.

Dwarf Fortress has endless content and an ancient community. Unreal World is the most realistic survival simulator and longest-supported game (according to Guiness) ever. Do I have to tell you how genius Dominions 5 is as a strategy game? And there's even more! Why bother with these fools??

A source I spoke with within a studio under Electronic Arts told me that the number one reason for the erosion of these games is that more and more, Producers or Leads, basically positions where experience and instinct are necessary, are given to people who're not only woefully underskilled/unsuitable but that these people possess sickening levels of sycophancy and are constantly firming up the stupid ideas that lead only to dollars, the choices that are ANTI, this whole phylum of the corporate world is a growing and influential one but is utterly indifferent to the emotions you feel when playing any game of theirs, or any game at all.
The only time they stop to pay attention to us is when they look down to see what they've stepped in. We are addicts, and they know you can't get their stuff anywhere else. Madden. Battlefield. Star Wars. Etc etc.
This is why they've yet to say sorry - not DiCE alone, but the ranks of this legion of fall-down douchebags that cause this hurricane of piss to rain down on us and also their bosses, overlords, grand masters, whatever.
Someone will write a book on how the infiltration of these cretins eventually brought about the destruction of so many universes, lives and careers. Whether or not that book goes on to mention the Second Videogame Crash that I fear is building potential with all the reckless WASTE of time and effort spent scheming rather than coding. NFT's and whatever comes next - these people are playing with fire and everyone who isn't lucky or a scumbag is going to be immolated.

The bugs are the least of this games problems, they removed ALMOST EVERYTHING that makes a Battlefield game. It feels like COD and Apex Legends had a love child. They could fix every bug/glitch in this game and it would still be a terrible Battlefield game.
This is what terrifies me. They could fix all those bugs in a longer span, and people would be once again on board with the game. And any further criticism is just "crying" and not appreciating their efforts, when in reality they just successfully removed the basic bread and butter which made the older games so fun. The fact they refer to scoreboards as a "legacy feature" says to me they are trying (badly) to get rid of the sense of individual contributions and want players to focus on the team. Good luck with that, especially since at the same time they remove lobbies and didn't include voice chat so teamwork is pretty much right out.
How can you ask for teamplay when you remove the dedicated team roles of medics, engineers and demolition/ammonition classes.
The huge problem with battlefield 5 is players not playing the objective. It leads to very unbalanced games where some play the game and others go for personal scores. But I think th eproblem is too deep to fix by hiding scoreboards.
That's our current society with "everyone deserves a medal" even last place stance

This and many other stories lately have highlighted the need for an indie game development guild. Indie devs should be working together to overtake these decrepit cycorpses. Imagine a bunch of indie visual artists working together on the visuals for a variety of games, indie game designers laying out mechanics to fit the parameters of a variety of games, indie programmers coding out those mechanics, and indie studios coordinating with all of the above to bring together a vision. The public market can and should learn from the organizational tactics of these hollow machines, and breathe new life into them.

It's not even necessary, suits would just kill the business themselves. What indie should do is to learn from these disasters and to NOT hire those clowns, and to make Uniom/Syndicates so crunch is not that common

The revolver bit reminds me of BF1. Does anyone here remember how that one gun would eject the right amount of unused rounds through the open slide? Or how the reload for the Nagant revolver was an entirely different animation when you completely emptied the cylinder? Or how the Lebel rifle featured the double bolt-pull? Or how the MG08 had a different animation for how much of the belt you'd used? Or how the pan magazine on the Lewis gun revolved and rattled? Or how the Mars Pistol practically exploded every time you fired? Or how some rifles would be fed from strip clips and individual rounds depending on how much ammo you added? Because I remember.
I LOVED stuff like that!

@@ink4852 I never uses the Mosin Nagant that much, but I'll have to look into that. My favourite one is that the guns that use black powder like the Carcano carbine and the Gasser actually have more smoke come out of the gun.
I'm starting to miss BF1 right now. Here I was hoping that this would at least be better than 5. The Mosin Nagant is one of my favorite rifles in BF1 and the Sniper Elite games. Part of me does wish I could shoot my own irl like I do in games.
Scoreboard, Game Chat etc were called "Legacy features" by DICE and they "promise" they'll bring them back. That fact that these basic features that are in every FPS multiplayer game are considered "Legacy features" is completely brain dead.
It sounds like a good idea to tone down the toxicity on these games.

I’ve been a hardcore BF fan since Bad Company 2. I can remember going to wal mart at midnight to buy BF3, BF4, and Battlefield 1 because I literally couldn’t wait to play it. I’m dissappointed that this is the state of BF right now.. I played BF4 for a few hours the other day and was blown away by the amount of guns, sounds, and graphics. BF4 came out in 2013!!! We are going backwards!!

As a Swede and Battlefield fan, and sharing office with DICE in Stockholm, I'm extremely sad that this is the state of BF. Luckily I didn't expect much this time around and never bought it. I knew when EA bought them it would go to shit like everything else that has been suffocated under the EA umbrella.

People are using the "but me have fun" card as if it were an argument against the criticism, which only enables developers to keep putting out borked, unfinished messes of videogames because of people who applaud mediocrity.
Whether or not you have fun with a game, you should always be pressing the developers to deliver the best product possible and be aware and acknowledging of flaws in things you play. Never, ever ever ever, allow devs to get away with things like BF2042 because "well but i had fun", or you'll keep getting more catastrophes like this, and it will get worse every single time. What we're seeing now is a result of players getting complacent years ago.
In short, defending a poorly made product will only serve to bite you in the ass in the future. Subjective enjoyment and objective criticism can and do exist together; even if you like something, you can, and should, understand its flaws and criticise them, or the creators will never improve because they'll understand that they can keep putting in less and less effort, since people still buy it in troves and clap at it.

The sad part is when I go on Steam it's still on the 4th spot on the list of the top-selling games. It's rated as mostly negative, there's all of this negative coverage... and people are still buying it. I just don't get it. "This is stuff that is unprecedented in a Battlefield launch." Buy em for the gang, and you can still have a laugh. It might be a dumpster fire, but even a dumpster fire is still warm enough for some.

BF4 was UNPLAYABLE at launch on PS4, but nearly all it's issues were server-related. Planes and helicopters crashed on impact in that game, and there weren't stupid specialists with custom class setups to ensure no one actually worked together.

I only bought DOOM Eternal 1 year and a half after release, and I would say it's hard to argue that it's a bad game. People should absolutely be holding off from buying games this early, but hype and depression does wonders for capitalism.

I despise with all my being day one updates. Make the game playable before the release date! I agree, gaming should not look to being the next Netflix or Amazon Prime with MFERING seasons, should've remained true to a solid release and possible expansions if successful. I don't get it either, I like to think they're new fans or uninformed consumers... but the number of people defending this game during the terrible beta had me concerned and confused. Many of them were longtime fans of the series and all they had to see was one brief trailer and their eyes glossed over with hype, even while participating in a clearly broken beta.
I don't know, the Battlefield games are very close to my heart but I'm not insane enough to pre order stuff like this these days. The writing is on the wall and all these studios sell nostalgia instead of new and improved games these days.

Having only played BF1, the lack of class difference is extremely upsetting. I loved playing medic because i got to do medic things. Revives and healing. Its very underwhelming with how everyone can do everything

From all the trailers it looked like the wingsuit was standard kit, like the parachute, everyone had it. But that was from an earlier build, one from before they added 'specialists', when your character was just a generic grunt, like in every previous iteration of the series.

Gamers need to take accountability of their own actions. Sure, EA and other big companies have had very questionable policies and released sub-par products, but it is ultimately gamers that vote with their wallets. If they continue to financially support companies that have screwed them over and over again, it's really on them. Corporations will almost never react to your complaints, only their bottom line.

Honestly, the end of round voice lines are a non issue, its outside of gameplay, whats more important is the ingame voicelines, they used to be perfect in BF3/4 (and are present in portal mode), but are sorely missed in 2042

I'd really like to know why there's such a disparity between "official" reviews and "user" reviews, and how professional reviewers seemingly missed all these issues, largely saying it's just another great entry in the battlefield series. Even doing some looks at TH-cam reviews, official reviews from known outlets tend to say everything is fine, while independent "amateur" review channels pretty much all outright say don't waste your money on it.
I'm always a bit suspicious of people's motives, but to me that screams industry payoffs or outright threats to influence review sources to give at least a passing score.

It's really simple. Official reviews get payed off to give good reviews. User reviewers realize the official reviews are nowhere near accurate and then review bomb the heck out of it because they(justifiably) felt scammed

Yknow, there's something that's been bugging me about BF for years now, so this release prompted me to try an experiment: the goal was to try & find the exact entry for which BF stopped being fun for me, so I went back and reinstalled some old titles through steam/origin. For each game, I wanted to start with a fresh slate - only vanilla weapons and gadgets, no perks or anything unlocked...now bear in mind that I'd never call myself super skilled or even competent at playing online shooters, but to me that's one of the draws of BF: you don't have to be the best at killing people in order to make a difference. Anyway, here are some key stats (all estimated averages):

number of times I shot an enemy first and was then killed by the same enemy: maybe 1/10?
Average end of round scoreboard position: top 25%
Fun factor (I.e. how much of an impact I felt like I was having on the outcome of a match): 8/10

One of the most baffling things that I've seen regarding BF2042 is the review number on Steam going up by 10 000 daily. There is at least 32K new reviews since the game was already rated as Mostly negative, meaning all those people bought the game just to leave a negative review. I am amazed people waste money just to confirm that "yup, the game is bad."

Learned my lesson from bfv not to trust 2042. Battlefield WAS my favorite fps franchise but I think those days are done. I realize bf4 had a terrible launch, but this feels different. Even without the bugs there's too many core gameplay mechanics that ruin the game. Bf1 will continue to reign supreme.

BF1 is and will always be garbage. As far as I am concerned there's old BFs, BF3, BF4, BFV and BF2042. 61 hours into BF 2042 and pretty sure the game is only going to get better. It actually feels a lot like BF2.
I think the main difference between BF4's launch and 2042's launch is that, while both games are in a similarly horribly buggy state, BF4 at least didn't also have a ton of just baffling design and balance decisions. It was basically just taking what BF3 did great and adding a few new features. 2042 completely turns the Battlefield formula on its head with all these awful design ideas that are totally antithetical to what makes Battlefield special, there are so many tonal inconsistencies that this supposedly distopian nightmare world where mercenaries are having to fight for dwindling resources has these dumb hero shooter characters and quips is just baffling.

People are starting to wisen up to what they are buying, gamers are getting older and soon they will feel the financial burden placed onto themselves spending on microtransactions every year, to catch back up to what they had last year. Between interventions towards addiction, wiser parents who know what their kids are getting exposed to, and government regulations towards these practises. The signs are there, and by EA themselves nonetheless.
Why do you think they are fighting to their last breath against lootboxes being classified as gambling? They will literally be unable to adapt to a world where repeated microtransactions don't make up the bulk of their income, and instead of making good games, they will keep trying the same old standard, but with only sales to cover their costs. Without knowing how to innovate anymore, or even making good products at launch that will sell on their own merits: profits will fall, investors will sell, and it will snowball out of control and break the back of the AAA industry all on its own.
Essentially, the upcoming regulations are what is going to cause the crash. They have become so comfortable relying on whales rather than sales that once you take the whales away, they will not remember how they used to make money and will stumble themselves into a pit of spikes trying to find their footing again.
2042 started out as an action-focused low-budget mobile port outsourced to EA Shanghai, then was reworked into becoming The Big Battlefield, quickly, and just as low-budget.

Compare the dialog in this game to Halo Infinites, where even I'm PvP someone doesn't even have to place a marker to tell where an enemy is I noticed sometimes the other players Spartans are just like "Enemy below us!" Or "watch that Sniper" and it's incredible how many times it's saved my ass.
My last BF was BF2, it was life
I bought BF2 the day it came out in 2005, and it too was the last BF game I played before I picked up 2042. What an absolute hunk of dog shit this game is. I'm going to go back to playing on community server of BF2
With the addition of operators into a game that doesn't really need them, I knew the game was aimed at monitization. I am 100% that operators will be sold in the future. This Bf game is clearly meant to squeeze as much money out of player as possible.

A classic example of the tail wagging the dog. This is what happens whenever the corporate entities within publishers get too much control over development teams and game direction. It must be so frustrating as a developer raising all of these issues about the game, issues and it's identity only to be told to pipe down and do as you're told. We've seen this so many times now with multiple different development teams and publishers. Developers should be making games for what the consumers want and not for what the publishers want. If you want to make an amazing Battlefield game, all you would have to do is go to the subreddit and look at the posts.
Halo Infinite is a great example of this idea of giving something a little extra love. 343 was like "Okay we screwed up 4 and 5. What did we do wrong" And rebuilt everything, reimagined everything. compared new to old. And created a healthy hybrid. Does it suck that cosmetics are paylocked. Yeah. Is it impressive that it's the number one complaint? yeah. (Second complaint being that the controller users have an edge with it's wacking aim assist which I believe they will tone down a tad)

I made a mistake at work last week and it was brought to my attention later. It wasn't a big deal and didn't affect anything but I still felt bad that I made the mistake. Now that I'm aware of it, will never happen again. We NEED to communicate in order to improve ourselves, both at work and in life.

It’s almost as if AAA Devs are predatory content factories with a high turn of staff that make rookie mistakes because they are in fact rookies.
The fact that they continue to sell this game at such high prices absolutely baffles me… Thank god for channels like yours, AngryJoe, SkillUp, Actman for calling EA/Dice out and shame on Westie, LevelCap, JackFrags and other Battlefield TH-camrs for acting like everything is fine…
Some of my favourite youtubers like Charlie and Muta also seem to enjoy BF 2042 and somehow it does seem like everything's fine for them. It's as if EA doesn't need to try anymore
