  • A PSONE with no power and a cold solder joint on the power jack connector. Should be an easy fix right? Famous last words.
    Enjoy the video? Can you help out with a small tip?

    Ha ha I was screaming the amps weren't set high enough on the PSU shut down, glad you sussed it out though nice fix Phil.

      Ha ha. I had another console on the PSU pulling a lot more than I expected recently, which helped me realise what was happening. I can't imagine the amount of time and effort I would have wasted looking for an imaginary short on the board if I hadn't worked out it was being under powered. Good times.

    Watched this in the live stream, and now a condensed version. I can recommend both. People that like long form, check out Phil's live stream, and if shorter content is your thing, you're in the right place. Keeping track of what you did on a device over a two month wait time is no easy task, good work Phil ! Famous last words, lol, if only that easy!

      Recording the repair how I kept track. Despite messing it up with missing resistors and blowing caps, i really enjoyed this one. Even tho it's just a PSone, I was very happy when the disc spun up.

    Hello friend. From what I saw in your video, what is the frequency in volts that would need to be in this ps601 capacitor? Mine has the same problem. However, my motherboard is the PM41(2). Thanks!

    Oh man im really hoping you have some advice for a novice here! So my psone had no image on screen but soon as i turned it on the psones optical drive would spin very fast and constant even without a cd, i bought a part put it in and nothing... Put the old one back in and nothing.. both parts work fine in my new donor. I was told to replace the caps which i did, i now have a picture but still no life in the optical drives, i followed your video and i appear to have the correct voltages so the drives are getting power... I dont know where to go from here...

    • @TheCheekyhalfling
      @TheCheekyhalfling ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooo I was using my multimeter wrong... I had it on ac not DC. On DC that same chip as yours is putting out 1.3...

    • @PhilipBryden
      @PhilipBryden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check for short around the chip like I did in the video. The chip could be faulty too.

      @@PhilipBrydenI have ordered from fuses, which were not easy to find! Couldn't find any with the 20 on the top which bothers me more than it should. 😂

    i have an issue on mine where the laser dosent move or spin at all it does nothing . i wonder what can it be

    • @PhilipBryden
      @PhilipBryden  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could be the lid switch not working properly. Test the fuses on the main board near to the power supply connector. Please be careful, the power supply can give an electric shock, even if it's not plugged in.

    I used to play the hell out of that game over 25 years ago. I have a few rare! PS1 games on the shelf along with some 40+ PS3 games that never get used.

      @PhilipBryden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I knew someone wouldn't be able to resist mentioning it lol. I deserve it ha ha.
      What are a few rare PS1 games I should look out for. The only rare game I have is a bootleg DS Digimon game.

    • @Ratchet_effect
      @Ratchet_effect 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Adventures of Lomax is an awesome game for PS1 and very rare! your basically a grown up Lemming! its a scrolling, platform game. Not a cheap game even today & the' Syphon Filter collection especially #3 is sort of rare too! Also' Metal Gear Solid the Special Missions edition, Toy story 2 can be expensive its addictive and fun to play, along with Toy story racer & Buzz light-year of star command. That's to name a few, the better the condition the higher the price, obviously, also some of the 'extreme rare' ones are imports but still very collectable in the UK yes you can get copies and dumped files but its not the 'Original' cased with booklet, sometimes sealed etc..

    • @PhilipBryden
      @PhilipBryden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blimey those are expensive. Something to keep an eye out for. I remember Tomb Raider, Soul Reaver and FF7 being my most played games.

    • @Ratchet_effect
      @Ratchet_effect 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The prices can be good if you find them in places like (car boot sales) Oh I like those and have those too! Tomb raider and FF games are in a lot of peoples collections :)

      @@Ratchet_effect I managed to pick up some free PS1 games today. Rayman 2, Blade, Duke Nukem, Time Crises, Tomb Raider 2, Theme Park,Tekken 3, Harry Potter, Sorcerers Maze,Fifa 97, VR Baseball 97, Soul Blade, M&M Shell Shocked,Spice World and Airboat Racing. So that's plenty of games to test any Playstations I fix in the future.
