I got chills with Frieren breaking the barrier. Man I was not expecting Denkin to be as cool as he is. He’s not in it for power or wealth (though he does have that), just for the love of magic. If he does become a first class mage he might be the second person ever to just turn down getting a spell. But that’s because he already knows the the most powerful spell of all… “fist to the face”.
ngl they got me good with Denken. He was introduced as someone with power and plotting something but in the end he just wants to find new spells and go back home. He's ready to fight Frieren knowing who she is and even without mana he's ready for a fist fight. He's a fucking badass!!! - Frieren meeting Serie is amazing, it shows Frieren is even younger than Serie. - Frieren destroying Denken and the barrier was so good, with the proctor repeating the barrier cannot be destroyed lol - Sense sensing Frieren analysing the barrier and knowing it's going to break makes me think she's more powerful than the proctor. - WE MUST RESIST THE URGE TO READ THE MANGA I'M WITH YOU FAROH!!! This anime definitely is also my favorite. Each episode is a treat!
If you notice, most of the experienced mages are stoic and never show much emotion. This is because their fluctuating emotions affect their mana and how it's read by the enemy like what Lawine did when the barrier broke, giving them an opening.
I think it's the only show that makes you this emotional and you have a genuinely strong emotional connection with, it's so touching your voice shakes it's beautiful
I really like the theme of the magic. “You can only accomplish what you can visualize.” Unlike Flamme or the that head elf, Frieren could visualize a peaceful era making her the only one capable of defeating the demon king and achieving it. Idk I just really like that
@@farohreactsto be honest current era Frieren is definitely stronger than flamme but serie is definitely alot more stronger as it is stated that frieren will need to train for thousands of years to even stand a chance against serie.....
I totally agree, Frieren will be, for sure, one of my favorite shows ever. This episode was so good, it had emotion, nostalgia, great dialogue and character building, but also awesome action. She's definitely one of the coolest characters ever 🙂
Having Frieren refuse Serie's privilege is amazing storytelling. It was so easy to assume after hearing about it and having Serie referred to as a "living Grimoire" that of course Frieren would absolutely want it, given her established love for finding Grimoires and new magic spells. But having Frieren refuse it, and for this reason, not only subverts audience expectation in a rather delightful way, it adds a great deal of additional nuance to Frieren's characterization.
no it doesn't. We expect Frieren to not accept it. Her characterization and early love for magic and conviction of finding spells way before Flamme, means so much because this show is so good a letting you know that characters are their own already. Frieren has only gone through character development during her adventure with Himmel and now Fern and Stark. We consistently see her make selfish but conscientious decisions. She does things for herself. Even wanting to help people because Himmel helped her. All of these things are her choices. There is no subverting expectations but it reinforces all the times Frieren does things for herself.
The one thing this show is that it is honest. There's no plot twists or hidden meaning. Every new episode adds depth to previous ones but I wouldn't go so far as to say subverting.
For some oddly reason, everytime Frieren with Flamme bring tears to my eyes... Every freaking time 🤌 The way Flamme stand so proud of Frieren... I want more Frieren with Flamme 😭😭 also the way Frieren break the barrier and Denken start to fist fight is chef kiss for me.. *Hi, it's my first time (might be the last one too, I'm not good with leaving comments. I kind of hope that the élf extinction is just false news to defend against the demon's campaign to kill them all. After a while I would expect them to retaliate or just hide as best they can, scatter, and be hard to find even for other elves.
The thing that stood out to me (as an online fan-translation manga reader who knows where the story is going) is the editing to the introduction of this episode. when the narrative gets back to Frieren and her team, it begins with Genau unleashing his earth-bending powers in a quick recap of where the last episode ended (which is not unusual). What did surprise me, however, was that they entirely reanimated the scene from Genau's perspective! and it wasn't a cheap or easy reanimation either, it was frickin' incredible... and the episode only got better from there. I agree with every reviewer I've watched regarding this show: there isn't a thing I would change.
What I love about this show is their realistic representation of magic like how magic can evolve and how some that was considered strong in the past can be weak in the future. Another thing is i love that they showing how Frieren is growing and how she has a clumsy side to her as well because in elf years shes basically a teen going to adulthood now and how she’s showing more compassion. ughhhh i just love this masterpiece so much
There is 0%%%% chance I can last and wait to watch the entire anime. As soon as this season is done, I'm diving head first into the manga like i've never done before lol. This is also my favorite anime of all time now. It's just perfect.

Apparently the Continental Magic Association doesn't believe in honorary certifications. Killing the demon king doesn't matter - Frieren still has to pass the test.
This show is full of surprises. I was not expecting it to become one of my favorites shows ever, it did. I was not expecting to cry so much watching this anime, I did. And last but not least, I was not expecting to like Denken so much, and I do! To be fair, one of the rules of anime is "old men are cool and wise". Frieren's and Denken's mentality of: "the joy of magic is in sesrching for new spells to learn" (or something like that) reminded me so much of the way I'm always looking for new skills to learn. I couldn't stop smiling during that scene.
This anime series is so hyped, and I'm really enjoying your reactions to it, #farohreacts. I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this episode, and I'm still supporting you because your anime content is absolutely amazing.
Stark basically being married to Fern has me laughing. And with Grandma Frieren on their heels. Seriously though this episode was awesome. The barrier break was great and Sierie being upset this is how she comes to say hello ... lol. I do like how Denken and Frieren think about spells. But to throw hands is going to be fun to see!!

I don't think most women are able to understand. Stark can be missing them, but at the same time can be so happy they are not there. Or maybe they can. A mother can love and miss her children, but be overjoyed with getting a few days to herself without them.
That was my thoughts too with this episode. Is frieren looking for all of those spells because she looked up to that elf’s ambitions or wtv? I’m very curious, and flamme also said that elf couldn’t defeat the demon king because they seek battle/war? I hope we get a few more episodes. I don’t want to have to wait until season 2 so soon (I’d assume there would be a second season?)
As someone who has read the manga, I can only say there is a reason Frieren isn't being fast-tracked to First Class Mage status, and in hindsight it's such a great bit of storytelling.
It's not really a spoiler, though. People who think Frieren should just be made 1st Class immediately say that because they think she's so great and impressive, which she is, but not to Serie. And since Serie's opinion is the one who matters most (if not the only one who actually matters), Frieren is just going to have to go through the process like everyone else 🤷🏾♀️
