FIRST TIME LISTENER | WISH YOU WERE HERE PINK FLOYD MUSIC REACTION
    • FIRST TIME LISTENER | ...
    _____________________________________
Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished by their extended compositions, sonic experiments, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.
Pink Floyd were founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass guitar, vocals) and Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals). Under Barrett's leadership, they released two hit singles, "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play", and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). The guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the primary lyricist and thematic leader, devising the concepts behind Pink Floyd's most successful albums, The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979). The musical film based on The Wall, Pink Floyd - The Wall (1982), won two BAFTA Awards. Pink Floyd also composed several film scores.

Yes, as someone already suggested, you should losten to next track on this album called The Great Gig in the Sky. It's not only musically flows from one to another, but thematically too. Time song ends with an old man hearing a bell of probably a funeral, ant the next song is about the death but in a different way that you can expect.... you'll see, I won't spoil :)

You're obviously a younger person who has recently discovered that classic rock music from the early 70's can be unexpectedly stunning. (Although the PF pulse concert was 1994, this song originated back in the early 70's.)
So I'll give you the *same* hot tip I gave a few minutes ago to a similarly young-ish youtuber (who also recently discovered PF) ...
Have a listen to Deep Purple's "Child in Time". But *don't* do what most other reactors do (they watch a live version from the BBC). Instead, find the video titled "Deep purple - Child in time 2022, (Lyrically)A-I-llustrated", posted by "Soldesign72". You could well be the first youtuber to react to this superb remastering of the original studio version, accompanied by an "interesting" montage of surreal images.
And btw, if you're wondering where to pause that song (to avoid angering the copyright gods), do it when the "machine gun" section starts -- you'll know it when you hear it!
Even if you don't start listening to Deep Purple immediately, try to keep this comment in the back of your mind for when you eventually, inevitably, do so. 🙂

You really must ( if you haven’t already) check out “ Great gig in the sky” there is a studio version and a live version, personally I prefer the live from the pulse concert but under ideal circumstances it should be experienced straight after “Time” as that track follows on. PF probably the best, but in their era many nipping at their heals - often with very, very different sounds but at that quality level. ELP, ELO, Genesis, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull... must be many others! And that batton has not been dropped. We have the likes of Porcupine Tree, The Pineapple Thief, DreamTheater, Spock's Beard and many others in the same space creating new excellent material today!
With, of course, The Beatles who still drop jaws... going from "She Loves You" c. 1963 then rapidly developing in every direction each with a new sound - so by 1966 we get "Tomorrow Never Knows" which is the precursor to prog and PF. Way awesome progression! :)

24 and there's so much more.... xxx good one bro, try out "Echoes" Live in Pompeii October 1971. its gotta be one of the best live gigs ever!!
also if you want to try the black hash of progressive rock.... check out early (1969) then mid era (1975-80) King Crimson. for starters try "Starless"from the album "Red" 1975 or "Starless Live" 2015 or from the very start with "In the court of the Crimson King" that album and song, set a new benchmark of musicality that lasted for years and inspired many of the upcoming progressive bands at the time. Remember Floyd were a completely progressive rock band until they became so popular that it was bent into the main stream.

You need to listen to this album from start to finish, it is a journey, and tells a story about the human condition. There is a reason it is one of the highest selling albums of all time. Just before the alarm clocks, is a song about a nightmare depicting fear of flying and at the end the plane crashes, then the clocks wake you up from that nightmare. Likewise this song's end chord, flows seamlessly into The Great Gig in the Sky which is a song about facing death, with anger, fear, resentment and then acceptance. And yes, David Gilmour "speaks" with the guitar. He strikes a resonant chord in your soul with his mastery. He is still going strong and just put out a single from his new solo album - note he is 78:
    th-cam.com/video/gMr5GpCpKyA/w-d-xo.html ( David Gilmour - The Piper's Call (Official Music Video) )
His daughter is musically inclined too, and looks amazingly like a young David:
