Angel beats is GOAT and in my top 5. I’ve only watched it once 100% 10 years ago and for some reason tell myself that I will one day rewatch it completely when a significant event happens in my life; what that event is I don’t know. Still love it to pieces and I was ecstatic when 3 new songs were recently released within the past year under the characters personas. Didn’t know how much I missed Iwasawa voice until it hit and gave me major chills. GirlDeMo rules.

this show is genuinely something special. I've never felt a closer connection with a cast of characters, and never felt such emotional impact as i did in the final few episodes. I seriously don't cry easily, or almost ever, but episodes 10 and 13 made me completely break down. so many shows try, but almost none can actually strike the balance of comedy and seriousness that this show does - it switches on a dime between really fun and good times with funny characters and typical anime shenanigans, and the most heart-wrenching, soul-crushing emotional weight that's ever been written in media. I never really thought my favorite show would change, until I watched this one. if anyone's watching this video to see whether they should give this show a chance, please do, you won't regret it
I'm not gonna lie after I watched Angel Beat (stayed up till like 4 in the morning), and I had a whole emotional breakdown. My body was cold. I was in tears, I was just destroyed. Also, that ending is basically supposed to say they all reincarnated close to each other, and the song girl probably made the song and became an artist. kanaede and Yuzuru still held the feelings from the afterlife, and it gave him a dejavu feeling, causing him to reach out to her.
Yo it’s the same for me, I just finished the anime and I don’t really know what hat to think. I guess I’m just looking for other people that have the same feeling. Yo I’m crying the ending is so sad.
One of the first anime that left me emotionally broken I had such fond memories of Angel Beats which made me wish I could forget it and rewatch it for the first time just to cry all over again
I just finished watching it. It was beautiful, and sad, and wonderful all at the same time, so glad you mentioned the Graduation from Assassination Classroom as I finished that one later last year and it got me emotional. Both of those fictitious graduations moved me more than my actual graduation, though that's not saying much. I love how well everything came to full circle in Angel Beats. This was truly a wonderful anime, and I love all that went into it.
I watched 3 episodes and dropped this show originally, thought it was too goofy for me. But after this video, I went and watched the whole show. Man, episode 10 got me hard, I am not disabled, but can relate to the feeling of not able to do the things I want in life. And after playing soccer and baseball, being able to have a whatif marriage ending and finally got closure, how beautiful! The empty baseball helmet, the ending song with Yui in a wheelchair being pushed by Hinata, my tears just won't stop!!!
Episode 10 ending is my favorite. I can relate to her saying about herself “how could someone marry me?..” listing all of her disabilities and that she “drags everyone down”, and Hinata kept saying that he would marry her regardless. It just broke me to pieces.
When this came out, it was also my 1st anime and boy, what a mistake I made. Out of all the recommendation from Animelist, I some how picked this one first. The only anime that every time I listened to songs, still hit the feel like a truck after all those years.
I will forever remember this anime, I watched it back in 2020 during lockdown. It was one of the last animes I watched before I became more interested in netflix shows but this is one that stuck with me. Im still looking for a good time to rewatch it.
first and kinda only anime i ever cried to. yea i tearerd up at anohana and your lie in april, but angel beats was only one who straight made me bawl. it was just that timing when i watched it was too god damn awful, my father just pased away and i thouth the comedy will help me cheer up a bit, only to get caught by the feels in the next episode
When I tried to watch this a few months earlier, my level of empathy was like Angel's, which means, almost non-existent if it meant the fulfillment of duty and purpose: -I saw Yuri as a mere warmonger, as she would risk the universe's integrity by facing God, even though it could have been the Devil who arranged for the unfairness that befell her life and family; -I did not judge Angel's attack on the Ootanashi. He was dead and he asked for proof of it. She delivered, because that's her job; -I'm not sure I can be so forgiving towards the hypnotist. He was neglected, I get it. But steal someone's identity like that just to get the love of someone who probably doesn't even deserve it... This one I'll admit I refrain from passing on active judgement. It feels too unfair for me to do it, given I do not know that kind of neglect; -And, I saw the humans' actions in resisting erasure as futile. That was the purgatory. They would either be reincarnated or ascend. That's how it works both in the East and West. All they had to do was to either follow rules or fulfill their final wish. Yuri I might even understand why she couldn't do neither, because even in my scenario, I imagine she would need not to be at peace if she hoped to one day face the Devil. My final veredict... This show was perfect. And I, am an idiot who could never deserve to have my sinful eyes gaze upon this wholesome beauty. Because, I spent too much time with my routine of overseeing. My level of human concern and care is very minimal at worst and lowly average at best. I do have one complaint though. It should have been longer. Seriously ? 12 episodes ? For a show this complex with such 3 dimensional characters ?
