The Steinbergers with the modified full Strat-style body were created by Mike Rutherford and his guitar tech. That's why they were called the M-Series - for "Mike." Rutherford created them because as amazingly tall as he is, he looked goofy playing the original L-Series.
Geddy isnt trashing the Steinbergers, what he's saying is that ultimately he wasn't happy with their sound, so he moved on (to a beautiful set of WAL basses, mind you) Though he does mention that they tend to sound rather dry. I don't know about this for sure, but I plan on buying a Spirit XT2 Bass soon, so we'll find out.
I was given a synsonic one, a copy of the steinberger and I'm actually impressed! It sounds great and stays in tune really well. I figured it was some weird Korean pawn shop job, but they're selling on eBay for $100-180, n honestly I think they're worth it! Idk how much the old steinbergers sell for, but I truly am impressed with the synsonic though I really don't know if it still has the original pickup (s. Duncan??). Anyone know what they came with, by chance? I can't seem to find the specs anywhere.
The host’s name is Christian Roebling. Is he the same Christian who is descended from Brooklyn Bridge builder Washington A. Roebling and (his father) Bridge designer John A. Roebling?
Does anyone know why Ned sold Steinberger to Gibson? Surley he didn't do it for the money. I'm guessing it's because after the 80's hardly anyone was using anymore.
I will sell every single other guitar I own before ever sell a Steinberger. What amazes me is that so many young guitarists have never seen a real Steinberger before.
I bought it for the balance, feel and sound. I don't think I will ever get a diff brand. I find it redicilously comfortable. So obviously you're not correct in your statement.
I used to laugh at these, right? Well, about a week ago, I borrowed one from my singer, and he'll have to fight me to get it back! LOL!!! Seriously GREAT Instruments.
I never had problems with unbalanced guitars... And even if the steinberger guitars are pretty good, they are ugly as hell and I would never play it on stage...
Awesome Video! Thanks for posting it!

Steinberger guitars and basses became very popular in the 1980" s and the headless design was widely copied too .
I'd love a Steinberger bass, but i can only afford a Hohner remake which is all wood, i'd rather have a synthetic one.
Here's a useless bit of trivia. Ned Steinberger can't play a note on a guitar, which he says helped him to design a kickass
CountryHouseGent how useless is that info?
i think most plane-engis cant fly a plane :D
I find that interesting. Thx.
Leo Fender couldn't play either. . .
Steinberger is WAY WAY > than PRS..
no u dont, it feels fake, wood has a much better feel, and a more natural sound if u ask me

They don't do the real thing anymore
(the G model Total composite construction) Gibson suck!
