The smc packs ( larger ones) have been a go to in the rc plane (3d aerobatics amd edf sport jets) for years im glad theyre making 1400 amd 1600 packs....finally someone to put quad gas amd r line packs in their places
can you take one apart and show us the inscription on the individual cells? I would like to make sure that if I order some.. they are manufactured with the same cells that you have used in your testing...
I got a try these on my FPV Funjet fixed wing. I hit 242 mph on the Bonka 1800 after seeing your recommendation. I ended up melting the XT60 and so I switched to an XT90. I wonder why these crazy high powered packs are only coming with an XT 60 when that is clearly way higher than there rated for.
Hey chris i have a bonka U2 1580mAh 180C coming from rotor village, what would i need to do to get this shipped to you for a test to compare the the 1600mah
lol i paid $50 for 3 gnb 2200mAh 4s and i get 7 to 9 min flight time on my light 6" for each of them still very impressive i'm somewhat curious how one manages to become a battery designer
useless right. "here's a pack you can only get in canada and im comparing it to packs you can get worldwide" comparison is pretty null and void because of that imo
UK based TH-camr but you don’t start out saying these are NOT available to the UK. Seems a big oversight after raving about the packs and you only considering the US market. But disappointing if I’m honest.
I've spent hundreds of dollars on SMC packs and never had one that didn't puff. I always discharge and storage charge batteries when not in use. They are high performance packs that degrade and don't last. I'd rather fly my tattus that are still good 2 years later.
Consistent with my battery experience, in general, though I haven't used SMCs packs. Mid performance packs, stay mid for much longer. Higher performance packs drop a cell pretty regularly. That's why I recommend GNB to novices and why we use Tattu and Dogcom for racing. Charging a pack in 10 minutes and discharging in 60 seconds or less, all while charging at voltages I shouldn't even mention... They are the most used racing batteries for a reason... Wouldn't mind testing some SMCs though.
@@jakearmor It's well documented online how puff prone SMC's are. You either aren't buying their high performance packs or you haven't had them longer than 6 months or haven't discharged them in a high performance scenario.
I’ve abused mine and never had one puff Only time I even damaged one was jump starting my truck with it, burned the xt60 right off These are great packs.
@@RepEvox Are you talking about the HV packs that puff when users subject them to abuse and overheating? Because I don’t see any “documentation” to support your assertion. On the contrary. If you go to RC Groups and read around you would think they walk on water. That’s a far cry from your experience.
Aren't SMC packs well know for puffing? They perform great but never last very long. Its like a known thing.. you race all day on an SMC and they are toast. Race day packs basically. Not daily packs. They perform, no doubt. But they are known for being basically disposable Also.. no one uses 6s 1800 Rlines, people use 1050s. Same performance less weight. 🤷
@10fantic good to know. SMCs have always been great for race day. Open a new pack the night before and charge them up. Tear up the track. Then any time you got after that was just considered luck or extra. Glad they are able to make them last now.
I love all the conspiracy theories on why they are testing out better. Lol. They are fresher. “Be sure to check the stamping on the cells” in case they use the bait and switch. They have the same color on their site as CNHL. Maybe, just maybe, they are actually better! The best part of this is that in a few days when people will have the packs and get an opportunity to run them, all the excuses and doubt will fade away. These are the real deal.
These packs are insane! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
i have tried them this summer...... no sag until empty
You should try them in another world record attempt!
We need them in EU. Happy flying and Christmas !!!
We need 1S Lipos in this quality 😀 Great work chris!
Just picked up 6 1600! Thanks for all your research!!
The old SMC extreme packs were amazing way back in the day. Nice to see them return.
Only avaliable in USA and Canada? Any way to buy them from EU?
ty for making line graphs easier for my color blind eyes to see
I had some of these for my fixed wing a 2800 ,& I used it for racing quads and got really long flight times. These always have been great batteries.

Thanks Chris. Look good.. But i dont see any store selling it in Europe...
wow, these packs sound amazing 🤩
i don't even fly anymore, but im picking up a couple of these and downloading a sim..
I'm going to buy one right now and test it.

legend! THANKS!
Great info and great presentation like usual!
Thank you Chris for your clean and concise work in advancing our hobby. Just bought 5 through your affiliate links :)

Have you tested the thunder power packs? Thanks for the info on these SMC packs.
Hey chris i have a bonka U2 1580mAh 180C coming from rotor village, what would i need to do to get this shipped to you for a test to compare the the 1600mah
Now you have to add Thunderpower packs to your matrix.
Only in shipping in the usa thought doubles the cost for me in new zealand
6s 1600mha look promise, I wanna try this pack, there are so good test
Best packs for RC planes when they are in stock
Wish they made a 1100mah version
Got a 1400.
So basically only available in Northern America?
Need to expand to 4s and 1s
Can you please ask them to make a 1s whoop battery please please😂
👍👍
I tried getting SMC for my planes and helis, but sadly they have no seller in the EU. Importing and shipping was just not worth it ☹️
Why does their site have the same color palette as CNHL? Coincidence?

still very impressive

I'm in when they make 8S.
OMG, if SMC made some 5s 2200's, street league racers would lose their minds!!!!
Any 8s
Wow..
Jesus. Take my money!
They won’t ship to the uk because of some lipo shipping regulations 🤦♂️
useless right.

comparison is pretty null and void because of that imo
bro i aint got the money fo this
How to for FRANCE !??? US Only, lol
First to buy 10 😜

Thank you, Chris, perfect timing! I was wondering which battery I should pick up today :)
First 😛
Looking forward to when these come into your store

The old gen HV’s yes, I’ve been running the new hv2’s and have yet to see any puffing.

Is it possible that these packs are freshly brand new and the other packs are a little bit older
Nope, but it is possible that these are just BETTER. 😂
There are only so many companies making cells... jussayin
