Hello everyone,🤗 This video takes you through a step by step tutorial on how you can create two different base burlap wreaths. The bubble method and the ruffle method. Each wreath can be decorated for whatever season you wish or just hang it on it's own. I hope you enjoyed this video and I hope it gave you some inspiration to try one of your very own.
I hope you got what you needed to make your burlap wreath. And if you have any questions, you can always ask me, I'm here to help. Happy wreath making. 😊😊😊
I like this thanks for the tutorial I have been struggling with this now I think I can get it but I have one question I am using a square root and I wanted to do the second method that you demonstrated. Do you have any tips for the square wreaths
Hi Lora, yes, I love these two methods for burlap wreaths...I would have a hard time deciding which one as well, that's why I made two...haha....thanks so much and take care. 😊
I have always been a little intimidated with making a wreath because of not being very crafty. You made this seem super easy, and I’m gonna try it over the weekend… Maybe, lol

I love how you did both, back to back! I love them both but I think I like the ruffles better! It’s just so RUFFLY!!! I have got to get some burlap!! Oh the ways you can decorate it! So easy--I can’t wait to make mine!!!! Way to go! Another successful tutorial!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Very clever, I watched other videos about both methods and none explained it as fast, simple and easy to do like this one, great job! thanks for making my life easier.
Hi Dave, I made the for wreath last week. I did one orange and one blue. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work! I’ll be making the second one over the weekend and I am currently working on the cannoli wreath. Blessings
That is great that you're making all those wreaths. YAY. I love hearing fellow wreath makers ideas and stories of their wreaths. Thanks for sharing yours!!!! Blue and orange, love those colours. And a cannoli wreath....YAY!!! Have fun with it and take care. 😊

If you have any questions, just ask away. Happy wreath making!!! Take care.
Your presentation is excellent & relaxing... lol. I think there's a "twist" in 1st wreath, but I actually like the 2nd one better. I never knew the difference until today. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Yes th here normally is a twist with that method, but I don’t use it as I find it is too bulky in the back…and I find it works just as well without the twist. Thanks again 😊

Hi Dave loving your tutorials . Question please how do u stop the poly mesh form fraying when you wind round your 7 inch cutting board and cut all together . It certainly would be a great time saver
Hi Clarissa. Thank you so much. I am so glad to hear your are liking my videos. Deco mesh tends to fray, that is the nature of the beast when working with deco mesh. That is just something that will always happen. When I do my little "trick" to cutting, it does fray, it's not a perfect method of cutting, but it does cut down on time. Usually I do this trick when I'm doing a curly loop wreath, that way the frayed edges are concealed when you roll up the mesh to make the curls. Other ways that you can reduce the amount of fraying is to use a burning tool when you cut your mesh - this comes with some warning though, best in a well ventilated area and use extreme caution as this is a hot tool. Some people use hairspray or a spray varathane to hold the mesh in place - I have never done this as I would think this may add a yellow hue to the finished product. For me, the best way is to use a base wreath method that hides the fraying, like he curly loop, ruffle, or bubble methods all work really well. I don't mind the fraying, it's something I just got used to when working with deco mesh. I hope that helps a bit....thanks so much and take care.
Thankyou Dave yes I do have a wood burning pen . But burning through that much I’m a bit nervous I will burn myself . Thankyou for the tip for good ventilation . I used yesterday for 4 hours and didn’t realise I needed well ventilation .it was the curly loop one I wanted to have a crack at. I’m in New Zealand and don’t have access to a lot of the materials needed so it’s challenging .But I am enjoying your tutorials and very easy to understand . So Thankyou
Can you use burlap for an outdoor wreath for cemetery decor? If so would a UV resistant spray work for weather proofing in addition to fade protection? And would you treat the burlap before making the wreath or after it’s completed? Thank you! I’m excited to try the ruffle method.
Hi Kimberly, thank you so much. I have not tried using UV resistant spray on burlap wreaths before. Sorry, I'm not sure how that would react/work. I usually only put my burlap wreaths on my front door, which is under a porch and no sunlight directly hits it. So it's been safe. However, I am not sure whether burlap would be able to withstand the elements in a cemetery. Burlap does fade with sunlight. I haven't tested it outside yet. If you're going to use a UV resistant spray, I would maybe contact the manufacturer and see if it has any effects on the burlap, or do a test piece and see how that works. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Take care.
Hi Dave Do you twist the burlap after each column or just the 1st one? BTW I just made my 1st wreath using your video for deco mesh. I must say it came out better than I thought. Your videos are great. Thank you so much.
Hi Bernadette, thank you so much. I am soooo happy to hear your first wreath come out looking good. YAY!!! Congrats on your first one!!! I showed how to do the twist as some people do like the twist to hold the burlap in place. Personally, I twist on the first and last ones, and that is it. I find that when the burlap is squished together tightly, like I have in my wreaths, it doesn't move or come out. If you do a looser ruffle, then I would suggest adding the twist. Hope that helps.
Hi Mr Dave, I love your tutorials. You are just the sweetest. I will wear a mask, however, do the fibers get on your clothes or effect your eyes? Does the fiber float in the air? Thank you 😉
Hi JoAnne. Thank you so much for such kind words. Yes, the fibres do get everywhere, that is why I wear a mask and clean up thoroughly after I make a burlap wreath or use burlap for my projects. It's a little bit in the air as well, but if you take precautions, you should be okay. Thanks again and take care.
Hi Lou-Ann, thank you so much. I am thinking you're asking me how many 'rolls' I'm using? If that is the case, then I used 2 x 10yrd rolls of the burlap for each of the methods shown in this video. Hope that helps. Take care. 😊
Dave… I’m new here and am excited to try my first burlap wreath. I’ve been trying to figure out what size burlap to get. Is it 5.5 or 6 inch and where do you get yours?
Hi Nancy...I had used 5" width by 10yrd rolls for these burlap wreaths. You should be totally fine with your couple of 5 yards rolls. Plus, if the burlap is fairly thick, you can get away with doing a looser ruffle or bubble and use less. 🤗 The yellow sounds amazing...I'm jealous!! LOL. Thank you so much and have a great day.
Hi there, you can twist after each one. I tend to do it for the first couple ones and then no twisting after that and it stays together. It's up to you. Thanks.
@@DavesWreaths I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly! I just found your channel a few days ago and I find it so easy to follow along with your instructions. The tone of your voice and the pace at which you speak for some reason is very relaxing but not in a boring way….. and for someone who is a beginner and who also has anxiety I really appreciate it.
You make this look so easy. I watched another video on ho to make th bubble look and I wish I had seen yours first. It was much easier to follow because she seemed to make it a little more difficult than ho you explained it. She used wire and y burlap just wouldn’t hold that well. Mine didn’t look right, I seemed to have it a little tighter and fuller in different areas. I am going to follow your video when I make my next one and I’m so excited to try to make the ruffle one. I’m going to try that one before I do another bubble one. Thank you for your video. I can’t wait to try it.
Hi Melissa. I'm sorry the other one didn't turn out the way you wanted it too. I hope when you do try it again you will get it to where you are happy. Have fun with it and enjoy wreath making. 😁
Hi Laurel, yes, I twisted it the once to show that method. I don't twist my burlap usually for this method as I find it adds a lot of bulk to the back of the wreath and when I do mine, I fill it to capacity so the bundles don't fall out. If you're doing less bundles, then I would twist at each turn to make sure it stays put. 😊
Hi Felicia....for each roll of burlap it is 5" wide and 10 yards long. I usually have two bundles on hand just in case I need it. I tend to use about one and a half rolls to make the wreath full. If you wanted to make the wreath less dense, then one roll would work. It's a personal preference. Hope that helps. 😁

I love your voice
