I gotta be honest this is my opinion but I think the test is unfair the reason is is because the Jetta is bigger and heavier than the Corolla that means the Jetta will fair better in a crash, it’s called the laws of physics anything larger will outweigh something smaller.

test are inaccurate cause in a real case situations, a human would see a crash coming and automatically brace. dummies do not brace so they get rag-dolled
They're not destroying it for funsies, it's to see how safe the car really is in case of a crash, so that customers can choose their choice of vehicle according to how safe it is, some cars can save you from a rollover from a hill and others will leave you dead after a normal 50mph crash
I think you should watch it again and look closer this time because you are making assumptions. Or I could explain what is happening in the video if you'd prefer (Hint, the crash test dummy shown is in the back seat and the corresponding side curtain airbag seems to deploy just fine).
The passenger airbag didn’t deploy bc Toyotas have weight sensors and if nobody is in the seat the airbag is turned off. So it did exactly what it was supposed to do. The car sacrificed itself and all passengers walked away with light bruising.
