As 2024 reaches its final month, Tashs Movement Recordings welcomes Shayan Pasha back to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Iran, Shayan Pasha first emerged as a DJ in 2010 where he quickly became a fixture of his countrys nightlife, performing alongside some of the worlds top progressive house talents. A production career would follow shortly thereafter, where early releases via Area Verde, Massive Harmony Records and his own Wander Nation imprint would establish Shayan as a name to watch. 2024 has proved to be Shayans most prolific and successful year to date, notching key projects for Deep Down Music, inU, RKP, The Soundgarden and UV, while also receiving play from progressive house icon Hernan Cattaneo on multiple occasions. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings in 2024, Shayan would make his label debut with a contribution to the Technical Progress, Vol. 14 collection, a project which was followed by a groovy interpretation of Butterflys Ball by Daniel Testa in August, marking his first remix for the label. Now, following a remix for Mir Omar and UV Recordings, Shayan returns to Movement for his first artist EP Seraphim, alongside a remix from Forty Cats. The deep progressive vibes of Seraphim sets the pace for Shayans sprawling three track collection. Beefy kick drums, rolling grooves and precise percussive arrangements lay the foundation for deconstructed vocals and orbiting effects to paint a prophetic storyboard, while acid-inspired synth mutations deliver a memorable main theme throughout. Selection two Reflections lands with equal dancefloor vigor, as Shayan flexes his groove crafting prowess across the eight-minute piece. Mystical textures and emerging melodies highlight a misty top line, as evolving percussive arrangements create a club energy that is both confident and unpredictable. The third and final selection Alien Flu arrives in thunderous fashion with rough rumbling basslines and dark monochromes creating a foreboding mood early on. Carrying this mesmerizing hypnotism forward, Shayans masterstroke is to melt the proceedings down into a cavernous break, one where tension filled tones and textural drifts eventually give way to a finale of meandering musical co-actions. The release concludes with Forty Cats making her label debut with the lone interpretation of Alien Flu. Forty Cats has made a significant mark in the global progressive house scene. Her first milestone came with Highway via Lane 8s This Never Happened imprint in 2019. Two years later Forty Cats would make a dramatic shift in the direction of her sound, releasing on esteemed progressive house labels such as Sudbeat, Mango Alley, The Soundgarden and her own PURRFECTION imprint, in turning earning support from industry legends Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, D-Nox, Lane 8, Above & Beyond and more. Now, continuing on this explorative path, Forty Cats debuts on Movement Recordings with a peak time interpretation of Alien Flu. Taking a more direct dancefloor approach, Forty Cats toughens up the framework with punchy kick drums, rhythmic pulses and dynamic claps. Hypnotic and energetic in equal measure, its an evolving melodic narrative which delights across the break, tastefully creating a wall of progressive-tech radiance, as effects melt down into a chugging groove-centric conclusion.
