Agree, for me it's what sets him apart from the other commentary YTers I like. It makes him stand out and bring a level of maturity to the video - not that I'm saying Dylan's videos have to be high-end critical analysis lol, because I know that's not what anyone is here for, but tbh I've been watching for years and I miss his earlier era of where he'd balance the jokes with the film critiques. When it's mostly jokes, it's still fun, but seems catered more towards people a lot younger. But that's just my opinion, it's his channel at the end of the day.

Can I just say, as a film student I really appreciate Dylan's commentaries. People in my circle talk like Dylan a lot in regards to film composition which is how I stumbled upon this channel. Not to gas Dylan up but I really really love and appreciate how Dylan pauses the thing he watches and talks about the shot, it's very interesting and enjoyable to me. I hope he doesn't stop it entirely

I wish he wouldn't cut out different aspects of film composition in his videos. As someone who's studying film, it's so cool to see one of my favs describe why a shot doesn't work, or why the lighting is wack, or why the music is off, it's educational yet hilarious. Also helps me take note of a lot too. I still love Dylan's vids so much tho, can't wait to see what the future holds.

Times when i tried to forget, remember, distract myself, or simply find something to quiet my intrusive thoughts, i came here and i cant thank you enough for saving my life everytime, without even knowing it. It might look stupid for some people for me to write such things to someone i dont even personally know but you helped me more than many people who actually exist in my real life just through a phone screen and i think thats even more incredible. but matt rife didn't do just a joke about domestic violence it's his personality that's yucky too

    • @kate_m_k88
      @kate_m_k88 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

With all due respect, what about Rife’s personality is “yucky,” exactly?
      I genuinely want to know.
With that said, I've been a survivor of SA I *first* endured as a minor/fresh teenager for about 22 years.
I've been a survivor of psychological/emotional, verbal, and physical abuse, ranging in levels of severity, circumstances, and who the abusers were, for approximately 27 years now.
The physical abuse I experienced, as well as various extents of psychological/emotional and verbal abuse, was indeed domestic violence that occurred in 2 different relationships.
I've dealt with psychological/emotional and verbal abuse in more relationships than just the 2 with physical abuse/DV.
Furthermore, I have 20+ years *[spanning across 2 different states, several cities within those states, and at numerous places for considerable lengths of time]* worth of intense and emotionally grueling one-on-one therapy, which I continue to this day, working closely and intimately alongside hundreds of fellow survivors and victims *[both men/guys and women/girls of all different and similar ages, sexual orientations, personalities, experiences, diagnoses, upbringings, walks of life, etc.]* on our journeys through the healing process in therapy organized in a group format, significant time in educational classes/lectures, countless meetings/support groups, dozens of stays in dual-diagnosis-based inpatient and outpatient treatment programs/centers, plus much, much, much more.
It is a combination of baffling but not surprising and comical but also frustrating as all hell to see how people *[predominantly females]* are all up in arms over any of the jokes the guy has made.
What's just as bad, if not worse, as the irrational, impulsive, and virtue-signaling-esque reactions to any jokes the dude has made are the foolish attacks on the guy’s character and people, per usual nowadays, throwing heavy/serious and negative labels and terms at someone when it is, without a doubt, in every objective way, *not at all* warranted, appropriate, responsible, level-headed, rational, sensible, etc., to do so.
I'm curious to know whether you have genuinely watched and actively listened to Matt Rife’s comedy shows, podcasts he's gone on/done, any of the paranormal stuff he's been a part of with his buddies, etc., because “yucky” is one of the last words someone should use to describe the dude’s personality, lol.

Watching the movie commentaries and hearing Dylan talk about film stuff just makes me more aware when I watch things. I love being able to have a little bit of an idea of what's going on behind the screen, so I love those kinds of comments being in the commentary videos. I feel like I'm learning.

i never really comment on videos BUT i wanted to join in on the slew of comments to say that your discussions of filmmaking and directorial decisions in your movie commentaries are my favorite thing about your videos, they honestly taught me a lot about film and have made me more aware of those types of decisions when i watch movies myself -- all the while your videos still manage to be light and really fun. i think it sets you apart from other similar creators and is something i personally really, really enjoy (which is apparently a shared sentiment) obviously its your channel, do what you want but i really hope you change your mind and decide to keep those kinds of comments in :)))

I for one really like when you comment on the film-making & director choices, please don't cut it out! I find it really interesting and it's really opened my eyes when I watch movies and shows. For instance, the first video of yours that I watched was the He's All That commentary (loved it sm), and I already knew it was bad, but you really helped me understand *why* exactly it was bad, other than the obvious stuff --- you mentioned that it was almost always daytime / midday in the scenes which made it boring, and how the characters had very little interaction with props & their surroundings, and I never would of thought of that had you not mentioned it. Basically I really like hearing your perspective on everything from the film techniques themselves to directors choices & why they are good / not good / what could improve them, and the story progression. Feels like I'm learning stuff! :)

Christmas jumper! 💛 Didn’t expect a new Dylan video before Christmas/new years, what a treat ☺️
5:18 I agree, watching friends is a way of remembering Matthew Perry imo, even if it was as the character Chandler, kind of like home videos when a family member passes.
5:44 I always interpreted it as the writer’s saying that the rivalry and competitiveness comes from them simply being two powerful women in the same room 🙄. They’ve made that “joke” several times throughout friends so I wouldn’t be surprised.
7:39 sounds like a good plan, I enjoy the movie making stuff in commentary videos but compartmentalising things may work better 🤔. I thoroughly enjoy the nostalgia of late night Dylan 😄
8:39 so excited for that 😊
    9:32 sanitary? Is that back?!
10:32 you wanted a cult, you got one 😅
11:35 Aw that was so heartwarming 😸
    12:07 😆
    12:49 it definitely does
    Love you too Dylan 🙃
    Happy holidays 🥳

Dylan, I will make you a deal. I will edit 5 videos for you for free in-return you have to watch one recommendation of mine and make a commentary video on it. I am also a former film school student, and I know how to use premire pro, which is what you were using to edit in the video.
