Ok, lets get a little deep for a second boys. When you think about it, this is a song of desperation. Noel wrote it from a perspective of a guy (maybe himself) begging a girl to just slide away with him from society. He tells her of the wonders they could experience - chasing the sun and begs 'let me be the one who shines with you'. Noel gets pretty emosional when performing this live, as he knows in all reality, its impossible for them to slide away - it just wont happen. But still he dreams - he pleads, he fucking screams out of desperation ... Slide Away!

Can someone just talk with me about how much this song is amazing. Like for me, all the Oasis songs have meanings, and they’re beautiful, and this one personally, it makes an impact for some reason out of all of them.
Bit of trivia: Noel wrote this song on a guitar given to him by the Smiths - Johnny Marr. Marr wrote "Panic" on this guitar which uses a slide guitar technique, hence "Slide away".
