Not really, imo. Xiao follows some tropes, yes, but that doesn’t suddenly make him a bad character. He’s very complex, and to simplify it to just “rebellious, loner, edgy, Asian style, anime character” just shows that the person does not understand the depth of the character. Tropes can be good when done right, which in a case such as Xiao I do believe they succeeded. One of my favorite parts of Lantern Rite is watching how his demeanor around other people (especially the Traveler) gradually changes. Just a typical case of: The girls that get it, get it, and the girls that don’t, don’t. If you don’t get it, you’re not that girl. Lol
