    That's the kind of scary and touching thing about this film, even though Ingrid is clearly unhinged it is quite easy to relate to her or this entire situation.

      Megan: AGREED! "Ingrid Goes West" is truly a cinematic masterpiece appreciated by the few, such as we, who have the mentality to "get it."😉

    i think Aubrey Plaza is way underrated, in this one-of-the-many-interwiew she does what happens often when she's out there - she flicks a moment of here-and-now in, performed on spot for just some seconds when she > breaks the accuracy of the interviewer < who is doing his office job here. It's the moment where she asks him about his own relationship and says half-funny things like ''you should break up'' . // She happens to do this often in public situations, interviews. Like ''We're here Buddy. this is reality, not a film and fiction. Come out.'' She maybe does not in particular care if that person in front of her ever comes out more true in their lives, but i say she cares a lot that world seems to live in fiction, and she does not think it's good for the world and also she does not live in fiction herself at all. I think she does performance like musicians play music, she wants that the song means something and that it arrives and one or more people know more or are more after it.// Back to the moment here, i say she does many things parallel in a few seconds, which are a couple of different performance skills applied, and also are going hand in hand with her real self, of what she really thinks of the world, this moment, the topic, the guy. Some like explained before, i think she actually can not stand if people are .. robots. Like she says: ''you're born, you live, do things that live up to the fact you're here, take responsibility for being on this planet - if you robot, doing what you're told instead, just 'doing your job', you're a fail''. Like everything she values herself, walks together for some seconds in such moments: from integrity to a fully aware and switched on mind to a statement dished out. Maybe that's why she goes her way doing her thing out there, cause it gives her platform every now and then to give people those hits like subtle wake-up calls. // Personally i don't know too many ''film celebrities'' - so > i might miss out on many of them have this quality. But for what and who i got to know yet, Aubrey Plaza is about the only one with this quality. Maybe that's why they came up with ''she's so awkward'' because honesty and truth .. undresses people. // (that bit in the interview, talked about here, starts about at minute 1:40 - )

    This movie was great but I hated the ending. I wish they actually showed her trying to better herself and not possibly getting obsessed with fame

    • @adriancal3
      @adriancal3 5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      peace hyde i think the reason they didn’t is to show that we allowed social to dictate a generation. So in a sense i think the directors were trying to show there is no getting out, its everywere. I think that scene when she wake ups in the hospital and the guys like”look ingrid your famous” is the best way to show that

    • @alberteshun2802
      @alberteshun2802 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@adriancal3 We already know people are obsessed with fame and obviously someone like Ingrid would be, hell she's been obsessed with famous people from the beginning of the movie. Just telling us what it is, is not enough, showing people actually try to fix themselves is the best message to send across.
      Making ingrid obsessed with fame is like going back to square one and therefore makes the movie pointless

    • @mattgibson9991
      @mattgibson9991 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@alberteshun2802 Isn't the point of a movie to affect the viewer though? The characters are fictional. Ingrid doesn't exist apart from in this piece of fiction. But the character of Ingrid is relatable and I think lots of people see parts of ourselves in her.
      It sounds like you feel disappointed that, at the end of the film, Ingrid failed to change. So doesn't that make you feel more determined not to fall into the same traps? I can't speak on behalf of the filmmakers, but I think the point of the film was to make people think deeply about our attitudes towards fame and celebrity and how that links in to self-worth. And the ways in which social media exploits these feelings.
      I think, you're right, the film has a sad ending for Ingrid. But it doesn't have to have a sad ending for you, the viewer. And surely you're more important - because you're real.

    • @alberteshun2802
      @alberteshun2802 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mattgibson9991 It seems like you're reaching. This movie is not biographical so obviously ingrid doesn't exist but it is also not a supernatural film or a comic book film, everything in the movie can happen and in fact does happen. Ingrid not getting better will not inspire anyone to "not fall in the same traps". Instead of Ingrid feeling remorseful and eventually trying fix herself, she is actually rewarded for her bad actions; she is rewarded for stalking people and causing some of them harm because in her mind they owed her something. I mean she almost KILLED someone because of her obsessions.
      The ending of the movie wasn't sad, ingrid got exactly what every person obsessed with other people ever dreams of, to become the people they are obsessed with, in this case popular people.
      I don't think the makers of this film did it to teach any lesson, they did it for some kind of profit, much like most of the films coming out these days

    It's refreshing to be able to witness a "millenial" remain strong minded.
    She has a realistic mentality as well as expectations when it comes to reality. Unfortunately "millennials" dont seem to be compartmentalizing social media apart from reality. Making life one big facade. Society refuses/ignores to see how unhealthy it is. Blindly ignoring the toxic mental abuse.
