  • Today’s feature is one of the dopest rappers, before his time, that may have missed his window of rap stardom. Not that he didn’t have a nice career he could still profit from, but as far as becoming the star he could’ve with his talent, that didn’t happen. At some point people forget about you and he’s one rapper from those days I’d like to highlight and talk about where he met music Growth Stunts that caused his before its time talent not to shine like it would today or could've at that time. Some things were out of his control and some were decisions that changed the path of his rap career. Nonetheless, his song "Ghetto Jam" What Happened To Rapper Domino? Stunted Growth Music

Rapper Domino made one of my favorite songs of the 90s that I almost forgot about until Lady Lex suggested it. Thank you! Domino was dope. Still had a nice career where he could travel and do his thing, but what happened to his career after "Ghetto jam and Physical Funk"?

I came to the comments just to see if I was tripping. I'm 41 & I remember those times well! I never heard of no such comparison. Maybe somebody like Ice Cube's boy, Kay Dee or Dru Down could've been compared to Snoop. But if anything, Domino would've been compared to Nate Dogg, who was a prominent figure in the rise of Death Row & that G-funk sound that they were known for in the early 90's, prior to whatever StuntedGrowth was referring to in the late 90's.

If you think creating music is for people who are young, you probably will never make it as an artist. There's no age limit on making music and having a career in music. It's all about your image and how you present yourself to your audience. There's still a bunch of rappers that's well in their 40s and 50s that still create music. KRS One just dropped a new track that was hot. It's all about how you present yourself and your delivery. The music industry is afraid to indoctrinate older rappers in the mainstream because it represents growth in Hip-hop. They want to keep it a young person's game. They want people to feel like by the time your 40 years old, you've missed out and have to find another profession.

Domino was too ahead of his time. He would have benefited from being an artist 10-20 years in the future.

I felt Nelly was the one who brought melodic rap to the forefront after Domino. And the St. Lous connection is pretty telling. Nelly may have been inspired by Domino.

@@bubbaveaux I don’t know this to be true but a barber in LA told me Domino was originally from the Lou and to go back further there was a a MC/DJ named Mixmaster Spade he used melody in a similar way he supposed to be from the Lou also. Last thing we had Dr. Jockinstein he hosted the Roll Call Show. It was a call in and rhyme thing. The cadence he created for the intro could be where we got it from.
