My Extralite thru axles weigh 47 grams and cost around 160 dollars so still expensive but cheaper. My biggest issue with these carbon ones is while they probably test to meet all specs the weakest link is likely the glue between the threads which are metal and the carbon axles. Its unclear how many years this glue will hold up and if it doesnt the result could be pretty catastrophic. So for 13 grams more you can go with cnc aluminum, save money and possibly safer by them being one piece. All this said i have no proof that the glue is an issue, however many old carbon aluminum bonded frames have had this issue.
Just like the flimsy ti/aluminum, anodized external cam Q/R's of back-in-the-day I will NEVER understand the logic involved in saving a few grams in the things that HOLD THE WHEELS ONTO THE BIKE! WTF? But a lot of cyclists are stupid, thinking titanium is lighter than aluminum, anything made from carbon fiber or 3D printed is superior, etc. etc so these schlock-marketers find them easy prey. One of my bikes came with silly alloy thru-axles that required a hex-key. DUMB! The front was simply replaced by a DT version with the spring-loaded lever so it can be positioned properly while the rear required me to rob the same setup from another axle and simply bond it into the existing axle. More weight? Yep, but less weight since I don't need the hex key + I enjoy the convenience of just turning the lever to remove/replace the axle - no digging around for a hex key!
This Is the matter of “weight obsession” because technically the regular thru axle weighs 120-130 If you just want to save 30g over durability then youre obsessed because Carbon Fiber on bikes are pure garbage, the reason why carbon on cars, boats, planes last Is its composite carbon fiber, Toray and other carbon types used on bikes are fragile and weak, remember your wheels which weigh a kilo and above rides on these axles, even cars have steel axles
Save 220 for next pair of wheels is my thought.. Well, weightnerds do what they do. 😂 Loose 3700 grams of belly is another way to increase speed and stamina. Ride on😊

But alot of frames are thru axle specific to that frame regards tpi (threads per inch) , diameter , length.
They make multiple variants regarding this aspect. If a certain spec isn't available, you can have it custom-made.
