My boyfriend (Wayne) always remembers Vimy Ridge, even to this day, bless him.
He visited France, through his school, at the time. In 1983, this was a chance for him to go to different places, experience different foods and cultures etc. While in France, he had the chance to visit Vimy Ridge.........
Him, and his pals, were able to visit the underground trenches, while above, it was pouring with rain.
As a last, he got to view, the headstones of so many dead soldiers. And also got to stand at the Vimy memorial. He always said, and still does. Though he was only 11 at the time, he stated that, no birds ever sung. But if you listened carefully, you called still hear the sounds of the guns, and hear and feel the pain of the wounded.
    Nina.

Interesting video, few comments: there are actually 11,285 names on the monument. When looking at the two pylons, Allward didn't specifically mention what / who they represented, although, thanks to hints and as commonly shared with visitors at the site, we can confidently say that most likely represent France and Canada. One tower marked by St-George's Cross and the other marked by a Fleur-de-lis. The video than wrongfully shows The Torch Bearer, located between the two towers. Canada Bereft, aka Mother Canada, is located just a bit lower, overlooking the Tomb of the unknown soldier down below.
