      I have no degree and had no experience either and i started at $1250. I should warn you tho people from Africa say that they run into difficulties getting visas and that kinda stuff due to prejudice. However I worked with a few South African people so its not impossible. This is more an issue the darker your skin is. In Cambodia they are even sometimes prejudice to khmer people who have darker skin. Their own people.

    • @TomTripsOut
      @TomTripsOut  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The certificate you get will allow you to teach in ANY country. However, you’d have to apply for those jobs yourself. AVSE offers job assistance after the course but the partner schools are all in Cambodia or Vietnam. Which is no big deal, if you searched some Thai schools and emailed them you’d have interviews set up in no time

    Enjoy your videos as always. Seeing as your videos are targeting people who are not in Cambodia yet, do you think you’d be able to do a video on how to interact with the khmer people in a respectful way (greetings etc)? As our western habits and norms could be unintentionally rude.

    Can you go through avse without a degree? I know I will get offered less salary.

    • @TomTripsOut
      @TomTripsOut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you definitely can. You DO NOT need a degree to enrol in AVSE. Also, in Cambodia a degree is not a requirement to become a Teacher either. - I personally do not have a degree. They just want you to be reliable with a positive attitude and a Native English Speaker. There are a very small handful of specialized schools that pay their teachers more - and they require a degree, but it is very very rare. - I plan on making a video this weekend focussing on working here without a degree, so stay tuned for that! - Also If you end up going through with the course, make sure you let them know you heard of it from ME! - it helps to support my channel and help more people. :) - Tom Trips Out - www.avse.edu.vn

      I have heard of them. I have another subscriber going there in the fall. I don’t know much about them but I’ve heard people describe their experience in a negative way. I think they are also more expensive than AVSE as well. I dont want to bad mouth another place- I can only speak on the course I’ve taken. They put you infront of real classrooms of students during the course, at several different schools. These schools could be places you end up getting a job at. So thats another added bonus of doing a program in Phnom Penh. You are placed infront of a bunch of potential employers right as you graduate. They help send your CV to all the schools too

      You need to get an E-Type Visa on your way in. These can be extended once you land a job. a Tourist visa can not be extended past 1 month. Once you land a job - the school will help you take care of getting a work Visa extension, as well as the work permit. They also usually reimburse you for a large portion of it. - if you go through AVSE they can help guide you through each step of the process. www.avse.edu.vn - mention you heard it from me if you decide to sign up

I would like to teach part time while also working remotely for an institution outside Cambodia, is that possible or are there Visa issues?

    • @TomTripsOut
      @TomTripsOut  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All of that is possible. People with any degree can make more money, and you can find part time work. You just need proof you work there and you can get the Visas. They can give you a letter of employment even if you’re part time. BUT you still need a TEFL / TESOL certificate to teach. Id suggest the one i took. You can do it in country in person or you can do it online - AVSE Tesol www.avse.edu.vn

      Mostly in Phnom Penh, that's where they've built strong connections with the school. But they could send your resume/CV, on your behalf, to schools in Siem Reap too. It looks more official when the email comes from the AVSE office, and they already trust you are coming from a good source.
