Police received new leads 6-8 weeks ago. Why did it take so long to investigate the site. Police also mentioned no obvious disturbance & that there may not have been 12 mths & 10 days ago. How would they have known there was no obvious disturbance had they not searched the area at the time. Always covering their own backsides. They spent a great deal of time in rivers, lakes & waterways & little time on land. RIP yanfei 😢 so sorry for the family receiving Yanfei so late.

If the surface of the area had already been disturbed when the body was buried....or the surface was covered say with a stack of hay bales... or a pile of firewood the place of burial would not have been able to be differentiated from any other point around it.... it would need time to settle...... and that would reveal the body's position. If we had a cadaver dog in New Zealand.......????
What part of the grave was not obvious, in a tree line and covered with debris from the trees above didn't you understand? Police dogs have nothing to do with this because this isn't their job, your point is moot.

How many cases has there been in recent times where cops search an area for a body, find nothing, but some time in the future the body turns up in that same previously searched area? Start with one of the 2 Swedish tourists back in the 80s. Sven Hoglins body stumbled across by someone out for a walk after the area was searched. Don't we have cadaver dogs in NZ? If not, why not? Or are our Police lacking in how they're trained to search?

Critically think about the tax $ to Usefulness of cadaver dogs specifically for the police in a country of 5 million where people aren't often murdered and even less often have their bodys hidden after the fact ( and on top of that, hidden well....). It would be a massive multi million $ waste for a nice to have that we don't really need. also it doesnt change the fact you still need to know where to look in the first place working dogs aren't magical beings that just find stuff.
