    We miss Sam! Was at the park this time last year, it snowed and we had such a wonderful time with these guys & girls, we forgot how cold it actually was...
    Love Japan, because there is just so much to love!

    I still enjoy watching this video, even if it's two years old, as it's such a beautiful video, and Japan is wonderful, it's lovely to see Sam too. I can't wait for this terrible situation to end, and I'll go for a two weeks tour of beautiful Japan. Stay safe and well everyone! Love from London. ❤

    Went here in February of this year, highly recommend making the trip up. Dont underestimate that trail walk, and bring appropriate hiking footwear, especially if it has precipitated recently.

    I visited this place during mid winter, some years back. The roads are slippery, my suitcase got really dirty, the snow was seeping into my socks, the road to the monkey park was closed for vehicles, the buses were cancelled, I was cold, and I was exhausted.
    And... It was a fantastic experience. The monkeys are adorable, the park office has a nice hot stove to warm up, a friendly man at the camp site I had to walk through gave me an umbrella. Taking pictures in the snow is awesome. Not just the monkeys. We don't have much snow at home. Back at the ryokan, I was able to take a nice hot bath, and enjoy the tastiest kaiseki meal I had ever had at the time. It's quite a memory, and I'll treasure it.

    I went to Jigokudani last year in 2019. It was the middle of winter though, and there was snow everywhere. But the park seems to be just as beautiful during the summer. I definitely have to go back there one Summer when it is safe to do so!!

    Beautiful video, guys! I've wondered where the snow monkeys went when the weather got warmer. Being located in the mountains and being called "snow monkeys," I honestly didn't know.
    This Japanophile appreciates your work. Thank you all. :-)

    beautifully shot feature video of Yamanouchi, the aerial view is amazing so does the onsen ryokan 👍 I have been seeing this 6:32 everywhere do you know what are they called? They are really cute looking. Take care and stay safe!

    • @japanguide
      @japanguide  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the lovely comment! The statues at 6:32 are of a tanuki, which is often used as a symbol of generosity, cheer and prosperity. If you like them I would recommend to watch the anime Pom Poko :)
      Stay safe!

      @@KevinSiyuan Hey! I took a trip to Japan so when I came back to America, my girlfriend bought a Tanuki statue online for me, which was made in Japan. There are some that are cartoony, some that look like a real Tanuki (racoons dog). Most of the statues are somewhere in between, like the one showed in the vid.

      Because of the confinement we are currently making videos from home using our archives. The visit to the Jigokudani Monkey Park was a part of a one week trip from Tokyo to Kyoto by going along the Sea of Japan coast. If you want to see the whole trip narrated and with more explanations, here is the link to the first episode: th-cam.com/video/ymrhp1MrN_4/w-d-xo.html
