- I spent two years working on this, from 2006 to 2008. Never got it to market. This was a follow-up to Buck The Animated Trophy that sold really well and was also very expensive (compared to our typical items).
It started as just a head, then we made it a full-size gorilla. Turned out great - it's the first part of this video. We couldn't get anybody to buy it, too expensive.
In 2008, brought it back and tried to take out a lot of cost. Removed a lot of hair and simplified the body. It got a lot worse. Coudn't get the mouth movement to work right again either. He didn't look nearly as good. Finally gave up on it.
The eye movement was awesome in both versions. The head movement was good. I didn't want to give up on it but eventually the customers made me stop by not buying it.
I would have bought the hell outta this lol. Love that it sung All Star too
And also Heartbreak Hotel from Lilo & Stitch, Don’t Worry Be Happy from Jarhead and I Feel Good from The Nutty Professor (1996).
to be hoest i feel like this would be something cool in an animal museum thing, seems pretty cool
Exactly what I was thinkingggggg, especially the last one
Wow!! Elvis and the Beatles covers!! I would’ve bought this in a heartbeat. Such a shame it wasn’t released.
You sir are a man of culture
@@halloweenanimatronicchanne3507 and has a Shrek song
@@halloweenanimatronicchanne3507 been huge fans of both for a while. Got Elvis’ signature tattooed on my arm, and the Beatles Logo with the 4 of them from the HELP album
@@tylerx71animatronics76 I’ve been a Beatles fan for god knows how long, I have all their records on vinyl. Just recently got into Elvis too
Also sings Big Mouth Billy Bass’s song Don’t Worry Be Happy.
This is one of my favourite products Gemmy did! It’s truly a shame it never released.

So random, but it is super cool. The fact that it became full sized and everything is so cool, too bad all that work went down to a scrapped project. I love the phrases it has too, very funny but it's u fortunate how it changed. The 2nd design looks a bit more realistic, while the first design adds a lot more personality and such
Why did you quit?
I'm in the hospital. I tried to kill myself and right now I'm recovering a bit.
@@TheLiqui why? If it's personal don't tell me though
I do not want to share.
One of gemmys best
Went from real gorilla to cheap costume.
That is so cool, how big was this in real life?
About how much would the in-store price be if the first gorilla made it to stores? It looks immense, was it collapsible? What an interesting concept!
I'd say his retail price would've been within the $150-$200 zone. And seeing the full body of the character, it probably would've been collapsable despite the leg structure.
2 or 3 collapsible versions made, and 1 or 2 sitting versions. I really can’t tell whether the one with the trimmed hair at the end of the video was sitting or standing
This is so awesome
I thought this was fake at first looking at the thumbnail but now I'm mind blown and I'm surprised that this wasn't released
According to the wiki, it was turned down due to the costs, the oversaturation of the animated taxidermy market, and the declining popularity of the animated taxidermy novelty. I wish it was produced.
Also, a head mount version on a plaque trophy would’ve been made but they changed it to a life-size gorilla because the popularity decline of animated animal taxidermy mounts.
I wish this was released it’s super unique. So many good stuff just doesn’t get made, I love all the songs that were chosen for him.
What was the last song that was cut?
i had to watch this several times to realize dwbh was the song cut cause it was the actual song but theyre all there
@@Story0fUndertale he says he trimmed a song out of the video
@@ChristopherS768 yea, most of dont worry be happy was cut but not completely out
It sings songs from the dancing James Brown and Big Mouth Billy Bass.
I’m surprised how fast the mouth movement is on the first one, Is it using a high voltage adapter? or did you use a different mech?
That's terrifying
1:25 Uh oh
I was real cool how you made buck the singing deer
Its Fatz from the rockafire explosion
Also the dont worry be happy recording sounds like the one some bootleg singing lobster uses
I love this thing it’s so bizzare
This is so cool
You probably wouldn’t have been the one to work on it but do you know if Gemmy ever had the idea for a life sized werewolf/wolf man? I find it interesting they attempted some sort of life size for most horror icons with the exception of that to my knowledge. In the early 2000s there was a big head wolf man but that’s all that has been released.

Well this is certainly an unusual concept for a life size animatronic. The phrases sound good but the songs feel like they were randomly chosen on impulse. (Not to mention some of them would've been way too expensive to get the rights to) Still, it's a shame this one didn't make it to the shelves. It would've definitely stood out from everything else in the lineup at the time.
Songs were not a problem. We would have gotten all of them at a mfn rate (most favored nations, all the same rate), just like Buck. I know how to get songs. If one became a problem, we had other songs to use.
@@joep5300 I see. From my point of view, the songs chosen for this item don't make much sense. But I guess that's part of the fun with making novelty items like this.
@@Gemmygod I do think that songs like day o, and we're the Monkees would've been better choices. Nonetheless it's still an amazing concept that I wish made it to production
Cool😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Neat
Woah
you wouldn't happen to know anything about the raw audio for this, would you?
Even if he did and shared it, he would talk over it since he doesn't want people using it for presumably copyright infringement reasons.
I love it! Was it going to have more movement other than just the head, eyes and mouth moving?
Maybe it’ll be a 5ft Halloween life size dancer as King Kong. So he can be friends with the Frankenstein, pirate & Tuxedo skeletons

@@xKewlxKyddx yessir
Did you make any looney tunes items
Judging by all the licensed characters he made, he probably did
Porky pig pop culture series
Are they a pro type of buck the singing deer the big one
How about make a 5ft dancing gorilla for Halloween 2022 or 2023 that has & bring back the bases that has a purple button. It’ll be “Life size dancing King Kong”
He doesn't work at Gemmy anymore. He works at Occassions currently.
@@Gemmygod well that sucked. 😞
Do you have a video of buck the singing deer
Did you work on the life size waving Santa?
Possibly.
Hey Joe. I would've bought this. I like monkeys and nonhuman primates.
What happened to this prototype model? Do you happen to own it?
I don't think he does, and I have no clue where this thing is now.
i saw a photo of this prototype at the castle of muskogee wearing a hat, the item is rumored to be destroyed
@@sylvadoandstuff5224 do you know where to find the photo?
@@leostac i have it saved, you cant find the photo anywhere on the public internet

Where are the photos
Was there a life size bear
@Crazy Collector is there a video
@Crazy Collector can you send me a link to the picture
@Crazy Collector oh
@Crazy Collector can you describe what it was like
I never worked on a life size bear and I don't remember one being worked on while I was there. But I did do the Bud the Talking Bear Rug, which sold some units.
Singing monke
I dont like the second one
Also, you couldn't have just turned it back into a head?
Doing a head on a plaque had run its course by then. No interest.
