The comments are already pouring in about Tilapia being poison and garbage fish. I know, I hear it all the time but Sams, Walmart, Kroger and Publix still sells it. Just remember ANY fish can be cooked with this method and sauce.
Reallybigmonkey1 Tilapia is delicious! You gotta try the Tony C's seasoning in the shaker. Makes anything so good that you put in on. Now you got me hungry..
I've used the Tony's C's seasoning for many years in just about all my food items its good on Breakfast-Dinner & Supper Foods. Something you like Try this on it and see IF it helps the taste.
Wow! Now there's some history for you. I love Tonys seasonings and I use the old green can with amost everything...well except vanilla ice cream. LOL! Been tellin Dave he needed to brought that out in dem woods!
Reallybigmonkey1 Yes, Chinese tilapia gets rejected a lot by US inspectors so you can expect that a lot of bad stuff gets through. To me it taste like trash fish carp so I don't buy it.
Cooking process to remember > Start fire allow to burn to coals. With coals, as you add dry wood, you get flames and intense heat. Most foods cooked need boiling then simmering. You will never boil over coals and never simmer over flames so always put all pots over coals then add more wood. The intense flames will boil, die down to coals and allow simmering. This is the easiest method of controlling heat in a camp fire
Your video brought back many fond memories from my childhood. My bushcraft education began at a very early age a very long time ago. My grandmother was born on the Texas plains in the 1890's. When I was 7 yoa or so, she took me out in her back yard in her small Texas town and taught me how to cook over a campfire. I learned how to construct a fireplace, how to start a one-match fire, and how to cook a meal over that fire. Bushcraft wasn't just bushcraft back then, it was how you got from today to tomorrow.... I learned so much from that dear, sweet lady and I thank you so much for reviving thise memories for me.
Most people don't even get the big life lesson in a simple video like this. For many of us is simply therapeutic to see that life offers plenty of peace and quiet enjoyment and one needs not be a Rockefeller to enjoy Creation. Thank you for a blissful moment of quiet simplicity.
Great video Dave! I love seafood! As you know anything cooked outdoors taste even better! Thanks for another great video! You made my mouth water Chef Dave!
Great meal , looks like a lot of fun to make and enjoy while out in the woods .. That's what it is all about enjoying yourself and seeing what you can do out there . 👍👍
You are amazing brother! I have watched and followed you for years and I cant tell you how many times you have made a huge difference in my time in the woods. I love the woods. Thank you so much brother!
Dave, you NAILED it with this meal. All my favorites included. l don't care what anyone says, Tilapia is one of my favorite fish. I CANNOT wait to make this dish myself. As l told you before, l have my shelters planned, my bushcraft skills outlined, and now my overnight menu complete. All of your tips tricks and ideas are going to make for one WONDERFUL couple of days in the woods. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. I'm so thrilled that l found you here on TH-cam. You're an amazing guy. Keep those videos coming.
Thanks Michael, I'm glad you liked it that much. Man if you pack right, you can have foods like this for up to three days during camping. I use the mylar sack for one nighters. I add frozen water bottles for more than two nights. Cook and enjoy brother and Thanks for watching
l actually have like 10 Mylar emergency blankets, so l plan to fold it down to size before l tape it. That way I'll have multiple layers of Mylar and am going to incorporate either a strap or drawstring closure for it. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Oh my that does look and sound good! My, my! Now there Dave is a whole series of video! I can see it.. "The Wilderness Gourmet!" Perfect! Jumbo on the trail! Thanks again !! Ross The Santa Fe Man..~
Love your vids! There's always a little something in each of your vids I can add to my hikes on the AT. You're the reason I started bungee'ing my pack to the trees...best idea ever!
Dave you are just about the most entertaining outdoorsman that I've ever seen. You have a lot of knowledge and versatility in shelter making; you keep things simple but fun & I like that. The first video of yours that I watched was the El Cheapo heated shelter where you used a welding blanket for a fire wall. It was simple common sense that bordered on genius. You're great man, keep em coming!
Your cooler reminded me, as a kid, carrying ice water to the cotton patch. We filled a gallon jug with ice & water, then wrapped the jug with newspaper & put it in a brown grocery sack & the water stayed cold until noon.
Thanks Dave, I have been watching for years, I will never get tired of your videos !!! TH-cam was made for people like you, it's so much more honest than TV. I'm really not sure how anyone could watch your videos and say anything negative, but I do know the problem is with them, not you.
I've always loathed cooking complicated meals when I get out in the woods because I'm lazy about the clean up. But Dave, you've come as close as anyone to changing my opinion about cooking when I get out backpacking! That looks delicious, and I think that even someone with my limited cooking skills could pull that off. Thanks for sharing that great feast.
Thanks my friend I WILL be getting a space blanket for the cold storage food bag what a great idea I cant wait to put it to use very excited about this. Thanks again for sharing I wish I found your channel years ago but I will catch up and I will see you in the next one.

Wow, this video is amazing Dave! That dish looks better than most dishes you would get in a restaurant. I've seen all your cooking videos, and i'd have to agree, along with the time you made that dish with alligator, this is my favorite one. You my friend are a true chef of the forest. Thanks for making me hungry and inspiring me to cook more than noodles and oatmeal when camping, because that's basically what i'm still doing! LOL. Thanks Dave and look forward to the next one.
Now if you had treegrilla and a bucket you would have a table and a chair. For a fancy meal you should have a fancy table and chair. LOL. Keep that up and you are going to make somebody a mighty fine house wife. LOL. You can sew and cook delicious meals. LOL. With jokes aside. Really enjoyed the video. Liked the way you controlled the fire and like your grill. Thank you for sharing your immense wealth of knowledge.

Oh yes! I do have one of them Tony Cs shakers. I add them spices to my grits or rice all the time.
I've used the Tony's C's seasoning for many years in just about all my food items its good on Breakfast-Dinner & Supper Foods. Something you like Try this on it and see IF it helps the taste.

The shape of the grill is really good. Can balance easily and have plenty of room for pots and pans.
Thanks! Also, it has the advantage of having more fire under one side so you can rotate the pots over more or less heat
Wonderful setting, awesome food and a great video.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all Donnie
