BEOWULF CONSORT began in 2010 as a spirited collaboration of like-minded musicians devoted to presenting imaginative concerts that appeal to audiences of all ages. Storytelling through music stands at the heart of most programs. The group's repertoire includes a wide variety of themes: classical programs, sacred music, fairy tales, American pioneer vignettes, and humorous scary tales for kids and adults alike.
The ensemble is named after the inspirational and good-hearted hero of the oldest epic poem in the English language: Beowulf. This 7th century poem describes the Scandinavian spiritual warrior's fight against evil and oppression. For this reason, BEOWULF CONSORT includes Scandinavian music in each program.
