I just pre-ordered yesterday from Brookstone. Payment shows as pending right now. Most companies won't charge you until the 2.0 ships. Originally these were supposed to ship in May, but I've heard rumors of an April ship date! .
I really want one of these but as a photographer, I need a higher resolution camera. Any chance you will be coming out with a 1080 HD cam that can be swapped out?
@Billbo36 question, where do you use your drone? They seem to be using it in a park, but you need WiFi right? I want to use it in a snow park but I don't think there's WiFi there...
The new BeeBoop Is really good! It has non of the shaking and is super stable. It's $499 not to bad of a price. I hope the come out with a camera on a separate gimbals pod so you can control the camera separate from the drone. If I could get a drone for under $500 with a gimbal setup I would buy it. All the drones with gimbal setup start getting over the $1000 mark! So I hope in the next year or 2 Parrot makes the tech better and cheaper and smaller. The one I have not is big!
I wish that the new AR.Drone could follow me to take pictures or videos in any of 4 directions (top-down, front, back, left, or right at a switch) autonomously in certain altitude/height.
Ok so You can set the length (IE flight time or distance travelled?) and the elevation (so the height) and the drone 2.0 will fly itself? So this is enabled in the drone 2.0 now? Parrot said it wasnt yet
@ARdrone Hey guys! looking forward to preordering this master piece, but im not that familiar with preordering, any help thanks! (i.e. When will it arrive, where will i pay, when will i pay... etc)
I'm having a problem taking still photos. Video is great. Can you help me? I've read the directions several times, did 6 tests, still not able to take stills.
I received my AR Drone within the last three weeks and now the AR Drone2 comes out. What do I do now? I probably can't exchange it, so I guess I will have to bite the bullet and purchase the AR Drone2 now. Oh Well...
Im planning on buying the 2.0 when i comes out, but im wondering how high can it fly and how far away if im using ipad 2 or when the new iphone 5 arives?
Need a better real-time anti-shake algorithm, with HD camera you should be able to have super smooth 800x600. At a minimum the firmware should allow upgrade so said algorithm can be uploaded when available.
Gald to hear that thankyou Also Parrot should be selling a Wifi repeater to boost the range and wifi quality. I have using an old Linksys wifi repeater and now my drone 2.0 flys much better Rock solid connection now and can easily fly to 50 metres with 100% wifi strength remaining. Parrot could make some money on this one.
I'll buy one of these once they have a stabilized video camera that I can control through the phone. I want to be able to set a path for it while I control the camera without the shaking of the aircraft to screw with the video.
Parrot, you could be making a lot of extra money if you sold a wifi repeater for the Drone I just setup a linksys router as a wifi repeater and besides dramatically increasing the wifi range I now get glitch free flying and I can now comfortably fly to 50 meters without worrying about loosing connection to the drone 2.0.
The video still appears to be wobbly? You need a better video stablizer for smoother shots. You do that, and there is need would-be filmmaker who will not buy one or more of these camera drones.
Hey Parrot Whats with the False and misleading advertising here When the guy states at 1:02 "set the length the elevation and let the ar drone do it for you, just sit and watch" which is the Travelling feature and does not work with the drone 2.0
the camera resolution is low and nowhere near a 720p, not even DVD. it's only acceptable when there is no motion. it's a mental fraud to call this 720p, it's does a HD file with low res contain in it. I've got the AR.drone 2.0 for 3 weeks and it's a pain of trouble and bug since that.
perhaps a nice toy but..."It has a HD camera to let you capture the most incredible images you have ever seen from a flying device" followed by a onboard clip full of jello. LOL :P
Video suffers by artifacts due to drone vibration (a "rippling" effect). Testing with drone off shows none of those artifacts. At the price, it's OK, but don't think of this as a way to produce arial views for any serious videos. Think of it as a very fun hobby, just don't expect a whole lot from the video. Even TH-cam's 'shake removal' feature doesn't remove it ... although it does a very nice job of smoothing out erratic flying (hey, I'm a newbie at this).
@mraky2 Benzin RC planes\helicopters hold less time then Electric with todays battery cell technology. Also, a benzin engine will add unwanted vibrations to the camera the weight wichis crutial in RC planes is will be twice as more with four benzine engines lol
great, so basically the two we bought to play with and record videos with 2 months ago is obsolete now? I guess when your primary market was I-device users.. you figured you could get away with new releases every 6 months. Sigh.
thats cool. but kind of dangerous as these things become more common i can only imagine the nefarious ways people could use it... strap a bomb to it for example!
Do you think you could make the video any faster? Where did you learn how to make movies? it's the worst movie presentation for a product I've ever seen.
I just pre-ordered yesterday from Brookstone. Payment shows as pending right now. Most companies won't charge you until the 2.0 ships. Originally these were supposed to ship in May, but I've heard rumors of an April ship date! .
It would make moving target practice interesting, can't wait til I see one.
We're still working on this feature! Stay tuned
I got this last year ,yet to fly it!
What happens if my wifi gets disconnected? Will it fall and blow up?
im not sure if it auto-pilots, but you can set the distance and elevation. if you leave it, it can hover in place, too.
Is there any way to attach a GoPro? The footage looked pretty shaky. A stabilizer is needed.
The only way to eliminate the jello wobbling and skewing of the image is to use a CCD instead of a CMOS chip in the camera.
When can we hope in a 1920x1080 camera?
im not sure the exact measures, but you'll be able to adjust how high, how far, how much it can tilt, and how any millimeters it goes per seconds.
AR.Drone 2.0 generates its own Wi-Fi network :)
Great entry level.
I really want one of these but as a photographer, I need a higher resolution camera. Any chance you will be coming out with a 1080 HD cam that can be swapped out?

I assume you can edit the clips (if not through the app, then by using a usb drive to record)
Try it...165ft is a long way. It basically disappears at 165ft or you lose orientation, so it works perfectly for any normal flight.
So, good focus on the camera, but what about range? what are its limmitions and capibilies as far as remote control is conserned?
@ARdrone Hey guys! looking forward to preordering this master piece, but im not that familiar with preordering, any help thanks! (i.e. When will it arrive, where will i pay, when will i pay... etc)

you can set the length/elevation
@zippy172 thanks for the explanation
but can it take sharp pictures from directly above a subject
I received my AR Drone within the last three weeks and now the AR Drone2 comes out. What do I do now? I probably can't exchange it, so I guess I will have to bite the bullet and purchase the AR Drone2 now. Oh Well...
does this drone have live streaming ? like can you watch it while you are flying??
Im planning on buying the 2.0 when i comes out, but im wondering how high can it fly and how far away if im using ipad 2 or when the new iphone 5 arives?

So you dont need to stay at home for example , if you use you ipod touch?
Gald to hear that thankyou

Hi what would the maximum lift weight be for an externally mounted camera? I use two cameras besides my Go Pro with housing.Thanks.
where could i get one of these?????
the video quality is not that great if you want professional captions. wouldn't mounting a go pro put weight on the AR?
I'll buy one of these once they have a stabilized video camera that I can control through the phone. I want to be able to set a path for it while I control the camera without the shaking of the aircraft to screw with the video.
Mounting a naked Hero3 is about all it can handle !
I understand they go up approximately 164 feet. My question is, how far can it go away from yourself?
what range are we talking about? how far away can i fly it before loosing control?
Parrot, you could be making a lot of extra money if you sold a wifi repeater for the Drone
I just setup a linksys router as a wifi repeater and besides dramatically increasing the wifi range I now get glitch free flying and I can now comfortably fly to 50 meters without worrying about loosing connection to the drone 2.0.
Podría transmitir en vivo vía microondas para un canal de televisión?
Could microwave broadcast live to a television channel?
whats about benzin engine? so it can stay in the air longer ....
Saludos desde Puerto Rico, Como puedo comprar uno igual a este?
www.parrot.com/us/drones/parrot-ardrone-20-power-edition#ar-drone-20-power-edition
i wanted the one now i can get a 2 instead
so cool
please can you guys do the app for Windows Phone 8?
does it support advanced programming?
Is it possible to use a 3G/4G internet connection to control the AR.Drone?
It said it now can fly in the rain this is true?there pic of them flying in the rain
peccato che non ha l'audio!
The video still appears to be wobbly? You need a better video stablizer for smoother shots. You do that, and there is need would-be filmmaker who will not buy one or more of these camera drones.
and the camera has 12x10 pixels of hd resolution?
Does somewhone knox how to get 3G on it ?
How meny meter can it go in the sky??
150 feet or so. (50 meters)
Without any mods to the drone 2.0 at all
What's the range on this thing? Can I fly it across the city? LOL
1. Fly behind unsuspecting person.
2. Fly above their head.
3. Let wind surprise them.
4. LOL
I think what they mean is the Drone 2.0 will for example
Hover at a height of 50 feet for 5 min then land
Can I use it with a normal laptop ?
Hey Parrot Whats with the False and misleading advertising here
When the guy states at 1:02 "set the length the elevation and let the ar drone do it for you, just sit and watch" which is the Travelling feature and does not work with the drone 2.0
Do yu need wifi for the ar drone
Looks like parrot are getting another 300 odd quid from me lol
das sieht gut aus
The foto's it make how meni "mega pixels" are the ?
I will own one, Yes one day I will! Even if I have to wear a cardboard sign "Will fix computers or consulte for AR DRONE 2.0"
Someone had one of these at a paintball game
The only problem WI FI only 50 meter ,can the not make a stronger WI FI signal in the drone with a range of 100 meter
But I wonder how this is possible without GPS

chevere cuanto cuesta
@MinotaurSOH interesting :) thx
I think it is 100 metres.
i love those things. i'll get one as soon as the battery life gets up to 1hr. so far everyone that tested them claims they only last roughly 15min :(
Amazing , we can use it to recording Syrian demonstrations .
Okay, thx m8! :)
@alfst
yep
If they put 2 camera's in the front, you should be able to film in 3D!
I dont have an AR Drone. But the 2nd Generation will Change this ;)
perhaps a nice toy but..."It has a HD camera to let you capture the most incredible images you have ever seen from a flying device" followed by a onboard clip full of jello. LOL :P
Guys, the range of the device is quite small, less than 100m and is very sensitive to wind. The autonomy is poor also. I call this one a TOY
now its better

you can fly up to 50metres high and 50 metres far
to be fair , it's fun when it work well witch is rare....
AR Drone+CloudComputing- :)
Looks like 720P key chain camera quality.
Not very good at all
I don't understand why they haven't. If you shoot 1080p clips and want to mix with the AR video, it's a downgrade. I even have sunglasses with 1080.
I'll spy on my neighbors with this...
Thats not it
Travelling feature is like an auto pilot
@MrGanof13 ;)) i am sory :) it was not complain ;) ar is amaizing ;) what i wrote was just dream
Absolutely not convinced on Image quality, just build a good drone for GOPRO to be attached
But you can just fly 165 feet away! :(
great, so basically the two we bought to play with and record videos with 2 months ago is obsolete now? I guess when your primary market was I-device users.. you figured you could get away with new releases every 6 months. Sigh.
thats cool. but kind of dangerous as these things become more common i can only imagine the nefarious ways people could use it... strap a bomb to it for example!
camera quality looks bad and choppy :S
mount a gopro on it :D
Do you think you could make the video any faster?
Where did you learn how to make movies?
it's the worst movie presentation for a product I've
ever seen.
HD - really? this is very bad camera quality and looks much more worse than VGA :(
No, no, no. The future of privacy is downhill. You should need to get a licence to pilot AR drones
