What questions do you have about creating an online course?
Great video, Louise! So much useful information and you're right- creating an online course is no joke! I'm looking to upload my course videos on the Skillshare platform. Would you recommend that I use 'embed code' or download my videos and upload them that way. And how do you install out side microphone onto loom? I had trouble doing this. Many thanks! :)
When thinking on different languages, would you recommend subtitles or dubbed?
Thank you, this is so informational! I'm thinking to start with the individual videos that cover one particular topic, not a full course with several modules. What you still recommend Kartra for that or is it better to sell them as digital products directly on Squarespace website?

Awesome videos Louise! Question: how do you get your Loom videos to end up as 16:9 for a 720 or 1080 video? The Macbook Pro screen is not 16:9, just a bit off, so when I record the videos there are black spaces? You seem to have a Macbook Pro too, so how do you do it? Thank you!

This is suuuuper helpful, so thanks!! But I think the membership/course area in Kartra is different now from when you originally made this video. For example, I can't find anything like a "categories" icon ( 06:23 ). There is a similar looking icon, but it says "headline" and it doesn't open up a box to add a module, lesson, etc. It's basically just a text box.
Hey! I'm so glad it was helpful 🙌 In your header bar for your membership, are you able to hover over this? If so, there should be a pencil icon there - if you click this then it should allow you to view/add categories in this same manner, as you need them! I hope this works for you!!

Hi Louise, have just found your channel, Yay! I have a really small budget to begin with an a very small email list at this stage. What course platform would you recommend that’s simple, looks good and is doesn’t cost as much as Kartra?

Fun in learning Mandarin with Lee laoshi I’m so glad! What will you be using for your fall classes? I have a few different videos related to that. For Loom - it’s because of the pause button and having everything stored online. This way it’s much easier to share the videos (rather than having to manually upload them) and thanks to the pause button, I can take breaks whenever I need without having to edit! 👌

@@louisehenry possibly Louise, it would be interesting to know in what way and to see some comparison whether with you or some of your colleagues like case studies. I've been comparing 5-6 platforms. yet for example, I can't even predict how many sales I can do per month, and want to launch the course similar to how you did it before it is fully made (when it is partially made), so Thinkific looks more realistic for a start as they offer a free plan. with my budget at this point Kartra is way too expensive (in CAD prices also are 25-40% higher depending on the exchange rate). Maybe when there are a lot of sales, the game is different :).

Wahoo! Welcome!! So glad to have you here 🙌 I shoot my videos using a combination of my camera and my logitech webcam, and then edit my videos using Canva (animations) and iMovie!
you mentioned you do tech recordings. I note that I have been doing some on-screen recordings myself on how to use certain software. is it necessary to have a significant amount of written or verbal explanations along with the footage to guide the audience? or keeping the explanations brief is sufficient?
Hey Mourad! I do both! I keep all my lessons short but impactful, and then also provide written text for those with different learning styles 🙂

How do you create a transcription from your video, otherwise asked: how can I export a text document from my recorded video?
Hey Vanessa! This will depend on the tool you used to film the video 🙂 For example, I use Descript to film all of my videos and they allow me to simply hit "export" and select transcript as an option and they'll download a transcript for me that I can then add to my course!
Is there a reason you don't download and upload the loom video in case you don't have loom in the future
This is certainly an option! I just love Loom so much that I don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon! 😍

how does this compare to recording within canva?
Hey Amy! Personally, I prefer to use Loom for this because it is specifically made for filming your screen whereas Canva still has a few limitations and quirks to work out 🙂
