Hello, I look forward to your videos, great tools to learn more about the audio, I wondered if you can publish one or more videos on the production of professional stage monitors like Martin Audio series LE or Db or RCF, Waiting for your answer, I wish you Good Job Many greetings
Deiola wedges dont require anything crazy inside as far as im aware. Just put a bracing inside and polyfill. If you really want to find out. Check out dave rat monitor videos. I believe he opened the d&b m2, l acoustics, and eaw wedges.
I don't think this box is well engineered from an acoustical point of view. The design is similar to a JBL 4530 18" scoop rear loaded horn speaker. In a properly designed bass horn, the flair of the horn increases consistently over the length of horn. In this horn the flair is inconsistent. The start of the horn is the bottom edge of the 30 board. The distance from the 30 board and the top of the 34 board is about the same as the distance from the top of the 34 board to the back. The distance from the top of the 34 board to the top of the cabinet is about 1.5 times the distance from the top of the 34 board to the back. The distance from the bottom of the 34 board to the top of 20 board is much longer than the shortest distance to the 20 board. So the horn gets bigger then gets smaller. The end of the horn under the 40 board is just a big straight tube. No horn at all. 5 corrections: Extend the 30 board down so the start of the horn is about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of the 34 board. move the 34 board up so the cross section of the horn increases slightly as it goes around the radius at the top. Shorten the 54 front baffle to be 47cm to make the front of the horn as large as possible. Angle the 40 board down towards the back so the cross section of the horn increases as it exits the cabinet. Make the part of the horn along the back from the 14 board to the 20 board a gradual increase. You may need to fiddle with how far back the 30 board is and the position and angle of the the 34 board is to make a horn that gradually increases all along its length. Fixing these defects will probably not increase the output of the cabinet but they will probably make the frequency response more linear. A word of warning. While scoops do provide more low end power, in the cross over range from the low horn frequencies and the direct radiator 18" higher frequencies tend to have a regular set of nulls and peaks between them. I do like this project. Trying to get lots of low frequency output from a compact enclosure. Your construction techniques are sound. Your videos are great.
Hello Robert Harker. I could help, I need to make this subwoofer with a horn DAS 18" of 1000 Watts, I could send the measures that I use, I will thank you very much. sjustomayo@gmail.com
Robert Harker i believe trying to get an amount of low frequency from a compact enclosure is very challenging. We cannot defeat the iron law, ( efficient, compact, goes low) We pick either 2. Trying to build a small box using an 18 inch subwoofer is not ideal for a lot of subwoofers. Some subwoofers that can adapt to a small enclosure is the b&c sw, ipal, ds series. All these drivers need at least 150 liters. But if im making a box that small, might as well get a b&c 12tbx100 and build a tapped horn box ( tham 12, mth 30, cubo )

What woofers would you recommend for a cabinet like this?

HigherLevelSound757 depends on the volume of your box.
