This park has always been a part of me. I would always enjoy this place every summer and it would bring me so much joy. Now that the park has Todd Joseph as it’s new owner, it is just really gone downhill. He is just destroying the park in every way he can honestly and it just really breaks my heart and angers me. I wish it could just go back to the way I once remember it 💔
Someone with a ton of money not needing a return on their investment plus a love for nostalgic old parks would have needed to have bought the property....that person did not step up at the Auction.
I grew up going here to on the summers. The park isnt viable and I'll be honest. It was a long time comming. What REALLY killed this park was Waldameers Major expenasion in the late 90s and early 00s
WoW...My family vacationed there somewhere in the 1966-68 years. I was around 10 years old. We stayed in one of the rental cottages houses that the locals used to rent.....across from the lake. I still remember exactly what that midway looked like back then. I had in my mind that somehow it would still look the same...even though it's 50 years later...obviously it doesn't, and that's sad. It's still one of my best remembered memories from my pre-teen youth, though. I'll never forget that week there!
That’s really sad to hear. Loved this park so dang much and it’ll always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace Conneaut Lake Park for you will never be forgotten as one of the most coolest parks around :’(
Please, write to the PA Historical and Museum Commission and encourage them to take immediate legal action against the park owner to stop further demolition.
On what grounds? The Bankruptcy Court ordered the sale of the park free and clear of all restrictions. So the PHMC has no power any longer because the trustees put the park through bankruptcy to clear the way for anyone to by the park to use it for any purpose.
I loved this park when I visited in 2017, it felt like "the Chippewa Lake that survived" to some extent (a place I had a ton of fascination with growing up). But with how Todd Joseph has handled things it's unlikely I'll ever be back.
i dont live in Pennsylvania but I have an interest in amusement parks. its a shame the new person is messing up this park...probably wants to replace it with boring condos like other small town parks were! classic coasters=fun! condos=boring!
A wolf in sheep's clothing, purchasing the park to strip it clean of its assets, sell them off for a profit, and then likely redevelop the lakefront property into high end housing & etc And why isn't there some kind of landmark protection or zoning law for the park land in order to prevent this? Why wasn't Blue Streak itself declared a landmark? The ride dated back to the 30's! This same scenario almost took place in NYC's Coney Island, until the people voiced their outrage and new zoning laws for entertainment purposes only were enacted for the fabled beach front amusement area. As well as landmark status for certain rides & concessions (Cyclone, Wonder Wheel, Parachute Jump, Nathan's Famous, etc) there, some dating back to the 20's! The city then signed a deal with Italian ride manufacturer "ZAMPERLA" who took over operations of the amusement grounds and brought in many of their rides and coasters in addition to the legacy attractions already there. This was so successful that the city gave them a new longer lease renewal to operate. Farewell Conneaut, it was a good run.
@@coastercouple1211 There is one Ed Vettel coaster left - the Cyclone at Lakeside Park in Denver. Admittedly its future is unclear at the moment - it has not operated for a few years and it is unknown if / when it might reopen.
i wonder if the old steam engine is still running around the park, i used to ride as a kid , i know it was running right up until i got married, my wife rode the train i used to ride as a kid.

They only sold the park because they thought it would continue as a park :(
He lied
Your probably right. Still upsetting... save blue streak at least!
He seems to have always had bad intentions

It's sad to see it's demise
*UPDATE SEPT 2021*
All rides are posted for sale online by owner. Park will effectively close in 2022, land to be used for housing.

Will do
Beach Club was the best in the early 80's
My first job was operating that pony ride in Kiddieland. The ponies have been painted and restored at least.
That sounds like a fun first job !!
We played a gig here back in the 60s. Miss it.
Awesome!
Terry, Buckeye and Marday
Did they get back to you?

I think he’s selling everything anyways. It’s all up for sale, likely to be sold as private land for housing now. So sad.
@@coastercouple1211 I hope Gene Staples is eyeing Conneaut Lake. I'll just leave it that way.
We owned that place.
FRANCIS FROM NEW CASTLE PA.
We ran that joint
Lol
PATCHWORK WERE AWESOME
Looks like some antique rides made mainly for children. I didn't see any lighting so I bet it gets spooky around sun down.
Oh it does. Even moreso now

As an enthusiast, I would hate that.
As a resident of PA, it would lose a piece of our history

It was absolutely disgusting what happened. Blue Streak was the last Ed Vettel coaster and an out of control masterpiece.
