I met Jared Leto many years ago. I was at a 30 Seconds to Mars concert and asked him to sign a copy of a DVD of my absolute favourite movie he was in that has really deep personal meaning for me. He got upset and walked off. I was told that I insulted him by speaking to "actor Jared" when he was "musician Jared" today. The man is insane and needs to be humbled.
(And just to be very clear - he was not upset because I asked for an autograph - that was what the setting was for; he wanted to sign albums and singles only. Anything else was considered an "insult to his professionalism and talent".)

I will say regarding method acting-I went to school to study theatre and every teacher I’ve interacted with has completely sworn against it. As explained by them, the line between character and actor is an important one especially when working with really dangerously chaotic roles (such as the Joker) the separation of the two being removed can cause serious mental damage and after effects (ex: Heath Ledger’s work with the joker and even some of Leto’s work check out his interviews talking about his prep for the Joker). You do not need to live the lives of your characters to best portray them (ex: Al Pacino in The Godfather) who did not dive into the world of the mafia. Separation is key.
The joker role killing heath ledger is such a dumb myth the dude did roles after (he was supposed to play Brad Pitt's role in Tree of Life) and he abused a variety of drugs for fucking years. It's one of those dumb salacious Hollywood myths like Shelly Duvalls brain being destroyed because the set of the Shining was sooo intense bro just trust me brooo. Also method acting is fine if done professionally look at Daniel Day Lewis, you can see clips of him breaking character and everything, because he takes the work seriously, but not himself. Fr I've always thought it's more a sign of mental illness than it is anything to be impressed by. If you can only do that role by being in it 100% of the time, you're not really acting then are you? You're becoming someone else for a period of time. Acting is convincingly playing pretend, it's not pretend if it consumes you for so long that it causes problems in your personal and work life. People who can do a really challenging role and then go home at the end of the day as themselves, being able to make the switch seamlessly, THAT'S impressive to me. I've never understood the reverence associated with method acting.

I LOVE the amount of effort that the whole team puts into getting their suit, hair and attire ready to perfectly fit the courtroom look. No one really acknowledges it, so props and massive respect to all of you and the guys behind the scenes for getting fully into role! Really makes the whole thing more entertaining for me :)

I will say regarding method acting-I went to school to study theatre and every teacher I’ve interacted with has completely sworn against it. As explained by them, the line between character and actor is an important one especially when working with really dangerously chaotic roles (such as the Joker) the separation of the two being removed can cause serious mental damage and after effects (ex: Heath Ledger’s work with the joker and even some of Leto’s work check out his interviews talking about his prep for the Joker). You do not need to live the lives of your characters to best portray them (ex: Al Pacino in The Godfather) who did not dive into the world of the mafia. Separation is key.
The joker role killing heath ledger is such a dumb myth the dude did roles after (he was supposed to play Brad Pitt's role in Tree of Life) and he abused a variety of drugs for fucking years.
It's one of those dumb salacious Hollywood myths like Shelly Duvalls brain being destroyed because the set of the Shining was sooo intense bro just trust me brooo.
Also method acting is fine if done professionally look at Daniel Day Lewis, you can see clips of him breaking character and everything, because he takes the work seriously, but not himself. Which is the opposite of a dunce like Jared Leto, who only did the antics for publicity not for the craft.

I was an actor and I can assure you most actors HATE “method” actors. They are the worst to be around or work with
Fr I've always thought it's more a sign of mental illness than it is anything to be impressed by. If you can only do that role by being in it 100% of the time, you're not really acting then are you? You're becoming someone else for a period of time. Acting is convincingly playing pretend, it's not pretend if it consumes you for so long that it causes problems in your personal and work life. People who can do a really challenging role and then go home at the end of the day as themselves, being able to make the switch seamlessly, THAT'S impressive to me. I've never understood the reverence associated with method acting.
I feel like it'll be so hard to communicate with your coworker and get things to look good or nice, if ur actor won't even co operate with u and pretend they are a character

No one really acknowledges it, so props and massive respect to all of you and the guys behind the scenes for getting fully into role! Really makes the whole thing more entertaining for me :)
