  • I decided to pick a project camper as I am running out of projects. I needed a project and the wife wanted a camper…. Problem solved.
    This is a sweet little pop up camper which is perfect for my wife, child and dog.

    I will be watching. IMO That roof is going to need to be replaced to prevent future water intrusion. Might as well once you strip it down.

      I found the leak and to be honest, the roof isn’t as bad as I thought.

    We watched you first 9 videos today. We looked at one from 1972 recently and after watching your project we might take on this project. Just wondering where you found this project- which state? What state are you located?

      I found this in Minnesota. I am located in Minnesota as well. Thanks for watching! It can be a lot of work but it’s a fun project so far!

    Great channel, you have some skill! Love your vision on this camper. What is used between the upper and lower part of the camper to seal it from drafts? Thanks..

      I ended up putting in a rubber strip. It’s a soft rubber.

      If you find the group Ratclif Tow Low campers on Facebook, I have a video on there under the photos and I show what I used. It’s a garage door seal for wooden garage doors.

    Famous last words
    "I ran into a project...."
    We had a 70 Apache Masa III, that her dad took as payment around 74 she used it in her teens, then it sat for years, when her Dad asked if we wanted it, fully restored it and we used it a lot till we decided to upgrade to a '24 travel trailer. So we sold it.
    Good luck they are fun to work on.

    Would you happen to know how much space there between the bottom and top section side walls, ie 1/2" per side, 1" per side etc.?

    • @BackyardGarage1
      @BackyardGarage1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would guess about 1/2 to 1” per side. It’s not perfectly straight. That is after the walls were put on. Some spots are like 1/4 where the window trim is.

    What happens when you're camping and asleep inside and some smarta$$ turns that wheel on the outside to make the camper top go down, can you still get out? LOL
    Cool project, can't wait to see what you can do to it?

    • @BackyardGarage1
      @BackyardGarage1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can. Lol but there are also locks on the thing to prevent that.

      Right, that' what I was talking about. LOL
      If it did happen, would you be able to get out? Looks like you wouldn't have access to the top door and the top door would keep the bottom door from being able to open?
