    Bro, What is the purpose of the rough section in the seatpost?? I hope you'll notice. 😊

      @mikenaus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I bought the 400mm version which is likely better suited to MTB. The rough area is where the clamping is more likely to take place. Since I used it on my gravel bike it was a little lower into the frame and missed the clamp area. I used a bit of carbon paste and it held well. Hope this helps!

    for the next time you weigh parts on camera:
    your scale is ~11lb maximum. Try putting a smallish tupperware basket on scale, taring it out, and putting parts in the basket - Less messing about trying to get it to balance on the scale!
    thanks for the video man!

    Hi nice explanation 👌
    When you can and with further test drives pls give the feedback about the resistance/quality and durability of the seat post. I would like to know if does chinese items are safe to use 👍
    Cheers 🍻

      @@koksela1557 i didn t put it because i bought another one in alloy super light. This one in carbon from ritchey is heavier but i think it s fine to use it.

      CATEGORICALLY NOT. Check authoritative website with pictures of these broken, and stories of people that impaled themselves as they crumble under load. Bum goes down on? YES exactly! Most serious case was artery severed and near death. I got three of these, evaluated them carefully, three different shop, they are run of the mill baked T800. You could buy fibers, coat and wrap around the mold, but would not be safe. The weight is the biggest indicator of danger. T800 thin and light will crack badly, suddenly.

  • @firstname7780

    The weight saving will expose you to serious risk. Just tested 3 including this one, and they are cheap replicas. When they break, you risk a severe injury and self impalement if the issue occurs under load. it will collapse downwards, seat to the side and what will go into the pointy chop? Ample websites of these with pictures of these broken, and stories of people that impaled themselves as they crumble under load. Bum goes down on? YES exactly! Most serious case was artery severed and near death. I got three of these, three makes (Deda, ec90 and ec90 aero) evaluated them carefully, three different PRC sellers, they are run of the mill baked T800. with unknown resins... You could buy fibers, coat and wrap around the mold, but would not be safe. The weight is the biggest indicator of danger. T800 thin and light will crack badly, suddenly. Also keep in mind that the average chinese rider is lighter and shorter than the non chinese rider. that 20 kg delta and far lower stack is why the cheap replicas may work well for them but not for taller heavier riders..

      Hi! I wonder if these types of seatposts aren't the best in a MTB application? I used on a CX frame where the insertion point was much higher (less post showing above the frame) and didn't have any issues. My one issue was actually that it was a zero offset and I just couldn't get the saddle back far enough. I just swapped for a different post a week or so ago.

    • @firstname7780
      @firstname7780 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Naus They are categorically not. the solutions is A get a ultra light aluminium Alloy that should never break and B, Approved real OEM carbon. MTB transmits exponentially more shocks vibrations and more G forces on that stem. Consequently a good brand Alloy or carbon is a minumum. sounds like you need a 25 mm offset or calculate what you need min 20 mm offset. honestly the best is buying them at proper EU online stores that often bring these at 50%. just got a Deda superlegerro 0 offset 27 mm seatpost, half price at 100$.

      Hey! I suppose in theory! I have actually only been outside with this new seatpost once so I don't have much of a review just yet, but I'll leave a longer comment when I get a chance to ride more.

    • @QuickQuips

      Cycleabout has a long article on seatposts. Basically yes but it depends on design for the kinds of deflection you want (high freq low or bigger ones).

    • @firstname7780
      @firstname7780 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good one yes. Bad one will crack and have your bum impaled in a worst case. Check the forums. Snap OUCCH! Now, real ones cost x6 more, but are real. Certified. QC and proper resins. Replicas? Well, they may handle a 45 kg Chinese rider, not a 70 kg caucasian..

    • @mikenaus
      @mikenaus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, thanks for the question! I used this seatpost with no issues on my gravel setup last year, but ultimately swapped it out. Main reason was the EC90 I ordered was zero offset and I just couldn't get my seat in right position. After swapping it I did notice a difference in ride feel - the EC90 being a softer, more flex ride. You can check my updated video on all EC90 products where I go in a little more depth. If you order let me know how it goes on the MTB!

      Hi! I think this length (400mm) is meant for MTB frames? I don't see why it couldn't be used. I do notice some comments on excessive flex with the post but I used at a pretty far insertion point and didn't notice any issues.
