As an avid gargoyle defender petrify is by far his best skill because it's not only I frames for a long ass time it also completely stops him basically negating the whole ice physics issue also he's one of the best dash skulls since he can constantly dash with wave dashing Oh and Mr bacanudo made a mod that shows real cooldown times for quints and skills which is soooooooooo useful
You do realise there are segments of the game that requare you to dash to simply get across to the next platform,and the only way to offset this is to have a skull with mobility spell effectively having a dash on a long cooldown,which makes the whole idea redundoned...,right?
He could probably get it done with a tanky enough build, but like people have said there are rooms that require dashing to even traverse. It'd basically require a rigged run to even begin to be possible, purely due to issues regarding room navigation.

So, i think some people are asking the issue with the floor traps because, for some versions, they arent working. When the update happened for the PS5 version (at least the one I play on) the floor traps stopped working, even for skulls that dont float.

Rather than flying ability and this gauge that is being filled during flight id rather give this skull permanent airborne status so that this legendary wing and soar inscription make it a very nice character (or at least let these items shine). It would be great cuz well same goes with pike that you can build around dashing mechanic
I'm just gonna say, since he appeared in the vid, Davy should get a mechanic similar to Reaper, where he gets increased physical damage based on either money spent or money gained. HE DESERVES IT DAMMIT!
Petrify and Eye of the Gargoyle are definitely his best abilities. Petrify does real good damage, can be used seamlessly in a combo, and is i-frames. Eye of the Gargoyle is admittedly wonky, especially if you wanna get the in air buff, but it's good if you land it. The wind abilities are real lack luster from being hard to land and also just being really big displacement for yourself which, sucks. It's like Clown's air basic.
Unimportant, but I had the most amazing bomb/reaper run today. I've been working through dark mirror 3 and lost a really nice crit werewolf run only to get reaper in act 1 on the next go 🙌🏾😩
The one thing I think I should do for gargoyle is make the swap affect a permanent affect but instead it launches you and surrounding enemies in the air.
I still struggle with act 1 to this day and quite enjoy watching you play through it. If anything maybe cutting most of act 4 could save some time. Just an idea, love your stuff
If you are going to do a second goyle run you have got to try the dash gargoyle nonsense, on controller you gotta hold down + left or right on the d-pad and then jump and dash as fast as possible and you can spam dash items at unholy speeds
For Gargoyle Quest fans or Red Ariima(I played the Red Arima) there's this skull, it's not Firebrand but still a little bit "cool" i guess XD I usually don't play Gargoyle and when i tried it was not very fun, it makes me remember from Ice Climber from nintendo where you would always slip in the ice floor like you said, i don't think he's very weak, i am not bad with him and i know how to use it, still i don't find fun or interesting. He's denitely not weak anyways, but not interesting like our "Firebrand", maybe if they change his visual design it looks more appealing than having that thing attached to his feet like that soldier toys.

mummy is a different case - it triggers traps, but can't get damaged by them. Hovering over them and not triggering them, but not being immune to their damage is a different category :D
Gargoyle getting shitted on is reasonable however it is a damn good skull especially if you manage to get the rosaries, that never drop when you get gargoyle
Last few times ive played, i was using ninja, pikeman, shieldy boy and similar. And floor traps in the stage 2 didnt even activate for me. Let alone not take damage but not even activate.
I love the IDEA of gargoyle, his just a bit to awkward for me? I have trouble with both him and ninja where I jump infront of attacks/try to use their play styles and just die. And idk if it’s just me but I never get good items with gargoyle
It definitely shouldn't count as skill damage so my guess is item damage, as I don't think they naturally crit either. But it's possible they're neither.

I found that using both his wind ball skills with a cd build can keep him permanently airborne and is silly funny

Also, swapping with Gargoyle is very good. Not only an i-frame swap, but it enhances his basic attacks Unique+.

I think mummy doesn't trigger floor traps and the sphinx quintessence also negates floor trap damage.
