Barry used to say “I never played a mode in my life“ which is of course incorrect - of course he played modes, but he just never called them by their proper names. All the Phrygian mode is is a displacement of the major scale on its third. So, logically you would apply any of his ideas such as six diminished etc. as though you were playing from the third degree of the major.

Thats a great thing not to be bogged down with all these extra thoughts to pair down all that.
BH was the best at reducing ideas to their simplest core concepts!
