Such happy, healthy horses! I can't get enough of them running in the big open fields. Running fast and playing with one another develops strong muscles and balance, coordination and gives them the natural exercise that you cannot get in a stabled horse turned out in a arena. Jack, for such a young man that is a fairly new horse owner you certainly understand what a happy horse needs in a natural environment. Love how you are not afraid to share with all of us. And when your not sure about something you don't pretend to know! You always ask. What other horse owners think. Great video...much love and happiness to you! ❤ 😊
I love your philosophy on horse ownership, letting them live in herds in as natural an environment as possible, not using them as objects to achieve our own gains, to serve us. And how your philosophy is proven is the witness of how happy and healthy are your horses, how much affection and respect they have for you. Any horse who end up in your care are very fortunate.
You are correct, horses need to be horses. I haven’t cleaned a stall at home for over 20 years. I’ve never cleaned any of my loafing sheds either because the horses stay outside 99% of the time. Carry on and do good work.
I’m 67 now and had to sell all my horses due to my many health problems. There was a time I had eight horses in our pasture and found there was always a lead mare and a lead gelding. It’s natural for them to have a pecking order. Love the peacocks.
I agree with you about everything, which doesn’t happen very often! Our family raises quarter horses and for someone that is new to owning horse property, I understand from what you communicated, it was 2022. I don’t know if your back history is involved with equine but you’re doing a stellar job. You’re amazing, and the fact that you ask for people‘s opinions is humble and a great way to engage with your TH-cam family. I’m sure some of the people don’t have experience w/horses, but that doesn’t matter, we all have opinions and maybe they Google and share their advice or it just comes naturally because they’re good humans. Regard from Utah
I love that you are spreading the word about horses in stalls and your beliefs are valid. Turnout is how horses should be during their entire lives. Jack you are doing such a great job on setting up your horse farm. I have lived and rode at big horse farms all over the country. When I lived here n California Lucky Baldwin had Peacocks. His home is at the LA Arboretum in Arcadia, California. His property , big horse stalls, and started horse racing in the area. If you have time and like history look him up. I think his story goes back 100 years.
You are willing to ask for, advice, you know what you are looking for , your farm is wonderful, and space, for miles , you are going to be a wonderful horseman,
Thank you for sharing your background. I’ll be honest (and please don’t take this wrong!!) you have one of those faces where it’s hard to gauge your age and I thought, at first, that you were younger (early 20’s) and this was your parents farm 😆😆 Hearing your impressive accounting background I see I stand corrected! Lol Hey, it never is a bad thing to look young. I think you are doing a great job to be so new at keeping horses and I completely agree with you on turnout and letting horses be horses.
I believe you to be both philosophically AND knowledgeably Correct in your view of horses and are Straight On with their ultimate mental and physical well-being. You are an excellent steward of horses, ponies, emus. . . ad Infinitum. 😊❤ *** You must Never get tired of admiring the piece of Living Art your new girl is 😊😊😊
You have a magnificent herd.. if ever you start up holidays with your horses, although I’m a bit past it and haven’t ridden for years , it’s always been my dream to go on a western trial in USA , please put me top of the list .. I love the way you have all your horses together and how you treat them you are fab !!❣
Agree with your thoughts on horses. They should never be confined. If can't trust were your horse is at move them . I just cry watching these rescues help horses how can anyone be so cruel. They should never be aloud to own a animal again after they spend time in jail and have to support a horse. We need more laws to protect them. They are beautiful!
Jack, I am subscribed to a few different equine TH-cam channels. I have my favorite creators and my favorite horses. You have manage to capture my heart by the loving respectful way you teach and interact with your horses. I have fallen in love with all of your horses. Every time you post a new video, I am so excited to watch it. I love The Clever Cowgirl as well. She really knows her stuff. I also love Apollo The Shire Horse. He is so beautiful and sweet. He was in such bad shape when he came to his owner.
I also agree not to stall horses I have never stalled a horse unless they were injured and needed to be confined on their movement in fact I rescued a 16 hand paint mare who could hardly walk take her to my vet find out she had navicular arthritis so she cannot be ridden but she got along well with my other horses that I rescued should I put her out in a 10-acre pasture with them and they made sure she was taking care of they never left her behind she was always in sight she went from not being able to walk hardly to she got up to where she can actually trot and it was just always being on the movement getting the exercise and all it actually helped her legs get to work now she never could be ridden again but it increase her quality of life 10 fold she was so funny my ex-husband and I would ride the other two horses and she would throw a fit she wanted to go she wanted to go so we ended up ponying her and take her with us she just stayed with the horses
I absolutely love and agree with your ethics when it comes to horses Jack. I think that’s why I love your channel so much, you’re so empathic towards your fur babies. Your horses are glowing and are an absolute credit to you and your love. Your story about going out in the night to make sure your horse was turned out warmed my heart. You obviously love your fur babies very much. Bless you and thank you for showing others what a horses life should be. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 Ps, I love your peacocks, they’re such beautiful elegant beautiful birds, I especially like the white ones but only recently learned that it was a damaged gene that produces white ones and they often, like other albino animals, suffer from blindness or deafness.
I love your videos, your farm, and all your Animals!! Your horses and Peafowl, and everyone, are so lucky to have you! They all have the Best home ever!! They all look so happy and healthy. All your horses were having so much fun on this video. Best home ever!! ❤
I think you are doing just fine with everything. I agree with you that isolation is bad for horses. We are bringing our horses in at night because someone has been stealing horses in the area. I hope they catch that person soon. Starting with Patriot, Draikana and Reese together is a good idea. Have a great day! Love watching the birds at the end, you picked great music. 😊
Absolutely agree, horses need to be with other horses for their mental health and it is their nature… I hate to see horses stalled…winter and bad weather is one thing… but once things clear up, out they go!
Jack I always enjoy your videos thank you😊 and I totally agree with you. Horses should be horses and I think you’re doing an awesome job in what you do in decisions that you make with your horses. I love all the peacocks that you let just wander around. I love that.
Yup yup yup, pasture life is so much better! I worked for a barn where horses were, at the least, 20k and they were stalled 24/7. Whatever horses weren't attending the weekend shows, they were left in their stalls all weekend and I was never told to turn them out or exercise them. I was never told NOT to so I frequently turned horses out in the arena after i hand walked them to warm them up, while I mucked stalls. I remember being lowkey horrified. Lot of the owners were first time horse owners or lived out of state so they either had no idea this was happening or didn't care.
I agree with horse ethics. If your nervous about turning a new horse out with your herd since you have plenty of space you could do it one at time. That takes alot longer but you can observe each one’s interaction. I think your place is beautiful and all the free range animals are amazing.
Hey, whole Janana is fat might be a good time to ride her! Resses is so cute. I think the younger horses will get along pretty quick. Yhey can tell when another horse is young.
Horses are herd animals and should never be alone. My neighbour has a 20 year old Draft Cross that is alone in field opposite my house. He stands and looks in my direction all the time. I take my dog and cat to see him to give him some company. I give him carrot and apple sometimes. No doubt owner would not be happy about this. He always walks towards me when he sees me coming. I've asked owner twice if she is getting him a friend but never get a positive answer.
You are a wonderful caretaker!! I love the way you think - lots of sesitivity - your animals are very lucky to have you!! Glad everone is happy and healthy again!!
How exciting, meeting the herd! 😍 Ahhh you're from England! I kept getting a non American vibe, but had no idea! 😊 I agree with you fully, on stalling and turnout. Mine is out 24/7/365, in a herd. I see why you are careful saying this, but it needs to be said, horses have no voice to speak human, so we need to be their voice. I'm a little surprised that the little baby dragon isn't clapping at the others, she might have outgrown that already. Those birds are gorgeous and funny 😁 I truly am so jealous of your place! The space!! 😱 All your animals got very lucky living there with you!😊
Jack you have that so right, horses need to be with other horses. In the wild they live in bands so as our horses why do people believe that they will be better off by themselves? This is a long standing question for alot of us as old timers. I have over 52 years of horseman ship and I'm also a Native American who has been taught by my elders to care for my horses. I have watched you and I'm so proud of you ❤
❤🎉 Jack you have an eye for beautiful majestic intriguing animals, thanks so much for sharing. The peacocks are amazing!! As are all your horses, I love watching Sarge !! You should do more vaulting and trick riding etc when possible.. I agree about not stalling horses. Maybe you can get a Chiro check on your herd as part of your routine and especially since Drak slipped like that, kinda scary... Take care ❤️🐴🙂🇺🇲
Reese with the zoomies is so funny. He is super adorable. The time is quarantine with Drakina helped her bond with another horse while poor baby was sick and in a new home. Javelin is queen. I may have missed it but what was the reason you had to take Sarge out of the herd? Also love the peacocks at the end. You should be proud of how all you animals thrive…and the freedom you provide them. You”re doing great!! Thank you for also sharing “Your “ story.
I think the herd dynamics will stay the same. Drakina isn't mature enough to take over the herd, yet. Reece is such a cute little guy, with a great big heart.
I just love what you do! I would love to do the same, maybe on a smaller scale and groew food, ect. I love the way you treat your horses so humane. I wish you the very best in this endeavor. Peace
Do what you feel is right. Trust yourself you have a good track record of taking care of your animals. You only learn by mistakes. We all make them. I would always stay with them to make sure nothing goes horribly wrong. Your animals are an excellent shape so you must be doing something right. Trust in yourself
Hiya Jack lovely video with beautiful horses ..Drakaina is looking so well too and magnificent along with her buddy ..so glad that something good came for their illness together and now good friends which im sure will help the integration process...and very happy to hear you are British born.and escaped .🤣im still stuck here sadly ..i wish my parents had taken me to America..lol x
I agree. Horses are herd creatures, they just generally do better in a herd, or with at least one companion. They also need to move around freely, and keeping them in a stall is cruel.
Don’t know about the horses having the zoomies the peacocks were too lol, personally I think it’s wrong to keep a single horse, they’re herd animals and need companions, it was so lovely to see Sarge and the others just enjoying life, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Ponies always think they are the boss of everything especially shetlands or when we were kids they were called s*** lands.lol. Have you ever worked as an actor? Thought I saw a glimpse of you in a film.

Little Reese is so funny zooming around the pasture and then stopping to boss the big horses around!! I’m sure he will dominate over Patriot.

So true everything that you're saying about horses
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love seeing the horsers having fun outside❤
I have been looking forward to this introduction to the herd with your little Dragon Queen
I think the herd dynamics will stay the same. Drakina isn't mature enough to take over the herd, yet. Reece is such a cute little guy, with a great big heart.

Totally agree with your horse ethics ❤
your a good horse dad
Totally agree with you
Hiya Jack lovely video with beautiful horses ..Drakaina is looking so well too and magnificent along with her buddy ..so glad that something good came for their illness together and now good friends which im sure will help the integration process...and very happy to hear you are British born.and escaped .🤣im still stuck here sadly ..i wish my parents had taken me to America..lol x
Never too late, my friend! I think you should follow your heart.
@@HorseLady1109 thanx but im 60 soon with 9 cats and a mother whos due to pass soon :( if i was 30 years younger and had the funds too
I agree with you 100%.
I agree. Horses are herd creatures, they just generally do better in a herd, or with at least one companion. They also need to move around freely, and keeping them in a stall is cruel.
Zoom zoom ❤ 💐🫶🏼☕️
Don’t know about the horses having the zoomies the peacocks were too lol, personally I think it’s wrong to keep a single horse, they’re herd animals and need companions, it was so lovely to see Sarge and the others just enjoying life, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Ponies always think they are the boss of everything especially shetlands or when we were kids they were called s*** lands.lol. Here's a story when I was a kid I don't remember how old I was I had a flea Bitten gray mare and my little brother had a little Shetland gelding pony and one day we had to get some kettle up and so my dad didn't have his own horse but he brought my grandfather's gelding. We've been working for a couple hours so we decided to take a break we put the horses up into a holding pen that I could bored and eat a little bit that little Shetland did not like the other gelding being near my mare and he rears up and bites the other big gelding right on the butthole just let him know that that was his mayor and he was the boss
Too funny! Thanks for sharing your story.
You mentioned using a drone. I have been wanting to purchase one for my son but I have no idea what kind to get for him. Do you have a recommendation? I loved seeing the horses together. Reese definitely doesn’t know he is a lot smaller than the others! LOL
Hi there ! Yes, buy him the DJI drone and make sure to buy the insurance replacement and/or service package. Once you activate the drone , I believe you have 24hrs to be able to purchase the service package. The DJI Mini Pro, either the 3 or the 4.
Hahah yes, Reese’s doesn’t know how small he is lol!!
Here's my take on it: Horses need to be out as much as possible, 24/7 is optimal. However, training them to be in a stall is a good life skill, as if they need to be stalled at some point in the future due to an injury etc. then it won't be new to them and will hopefully cause them less stress.
Lol i always say do not kiss me with your teeth!
Horses should be turned out for most of the time but should stay in a large loose box that is well ventilated and clean, Horses are herd animals and should not be alone. They should be kept in their loose boxes when the weather is bad and when fireworks are set of so they don´t get panicked or stressed that can kill them.
Careful with putting a horse or donkey with a sheep. My neighbour did this and the horse got bored took the sheeps on their legs and started to walk or run around with them. That killed two sheeps.
Reese looked like he was kind of being protective of drakaina at the fence line in the beginning. I don’t blame him. The others were being pretty rude through the fence towards Drakaina. Reese - “ hey stay away from my big girl”
Drakaina should stay with her emu friends - with Reese in emu paddock during the day. Then at night you can bring both Drakaina and Reese into the barn at night.
I think it’s really cute she loves the emus. And I think the emus love her and consider her part of their flock. The emus looked like they were anxious to get out and get to Drakaina to be near her in the corner when draikana came over.
I agree horses shouldn't be in a stall.
