I honestly just love the growth of Hayley we have seen over the years now. She exudes joy now that she is comfortable in front of the camera! Her excitement for all the awesome plush and the cool bags she found at the bins was awesome to see, and then her talking about the kitchen she has been working on is just so cool. You guys are both amazing.
Coming from a home appraiser, butcher block stains super easily and can be ruined quickly. I find that renters are less careful than a homeowner would be with them, so they often don't work well in rental homes. Quartz is more expensive, but increases the value of your kitchen and home if you ever decide to sell the second property in the future.
One suggestion...have the refrigerator doors switched, to open into the interior of the kitchen and not way from it. Imagine cooking on the stove and having to grab something from the fridge. It should open the other direction.
You two have put so much work and care, not to mention $$$ into the house, to prepare it for renting. Now is the time to pray that someone will come along to rent it that loves the place and will take good care of it.
Flip the doors on the fridge , it will feel more a part of the kitchen . If you could do another pantry cabinet and a cabinet over the fridge it would be great I know you are not gonna live there but storage is a plus for kitchens . I love the color choices
If you are going to rent this I would definately use formica for your kitchen counters. I did my small kitchen and had it put up the wall for backslash, looks great and very reasonable. Choices are endless.
Kitchen cabinet colours look fab! I personally would go quartz looks a lot more classy, easier to clean and better resale value. Colours, I would go either a dark grey or white and wall tiles white 👍
Go with a formica counter top. Affordable...since you are not flipping you want cheap option, and they make some pretty nice options these days. I would choose a multicolour option that brings in some of the tones in the wood. Redid my kitchen a couple of years ago and put in a nice shades of grey formica that mimics granite. This is a rental property so you have to look at replacement costs if abused by tenants and formica removes that worry for you.
There are lots of Formica patterns I would look at for the counter tops as this is a rent house so I would not spend a bunch to be messed up by renters and it will happen
Happy Birthday Hayley! I hope you have a great day today! You’re a breathe of fresh air on You Tube and I’m so glad you decided to work with Josh full time on EBay and everything else the two of you do, you guys are one of my favorites on TH-cam. 🥰🥰
Definitely go with quartz countertops. You'll have so many options and some have that subtle green touches that would look beautiful with that gorgeous green cabinet color. Butcher block is kind of high maintenance, especially for a rental property.
@5:36, I used that same post binder for all of the 37 years I worked at a Gm dealership, and they are still using it! We used it to store the daily cash receipts “boards” as we called them, where we logged customer account payments daily, totals of part’s & service’s daily sales and also used it to balance the cash register every day. Definitely vintage!
I am an architectural designer and I wanted to tell you I think you made an excellent choice with the cabinets and hardware - green & gold is a timeless combination. Light wood for the floors is also a great choice to help the space feel more clean & light. As far as counter tops - I would recommend a solid surface countertop - these are a bit better than laminate, and still affordable and durable than say quartz - especially for a rental property. Damage can be buffed out because it is solid material unlike laminate which is a thin easily damaged layer on fiberboard. It will hold up longer and look better than laminate, and if a tenant damages it, you can likely repair without replacing. Color wise - I think white is the way to go, not solid but something with inclusions so make it emulate stone such as Wilsonart's 'Frosty White Mirage' Solid Surface. If I was the architect on this job that is what I'd specify. I'd stay away from those with a "swirly" faux marble look - that isn't quite the look I think that would compliment the finishes you've chosen so far. It is always a great idea to reach out to a manufacturer and get a material sample so you can make sure the color and feel of the material meets your standards. Good luck and can't wait to see the project keep evolving!
Hayley, the kitchen cabinet color is great!! You are super excited and it shows in your smiles and how stoked you are. I love how you two have fans at Goodwill too and they help you both find items to resell. Fun as usual!
We had polished concrete countertops and floors in our condo, and just LOVED them! They can be done in any color, and with the clear sealant on top, they are very shiny and practically indestructable! We have terrible heat and floods where we live, and the polished concrete even handled flooding well. ❤
I would use Wilsonart butcher block (in the light natural) but have Dean 45 a solid wood front stained the same color so you can’t see the laminate seam. Ours fooled the granite company owner. He was there to finish templating our granite island and asked loads of questions about our experience with our butcher block perimeter countertops but he never suspected that they were laminate. 5 years in and they are still fooling people! (It has a slight wood grain texture you can see and feel). Good luck with this exciting decision.
I really enjoy seeing the house progress! You don't realize how much work renovating a house is until you do it! Love the green colored cabinets. Butcher block would look really good. :)
Hayley, the cabinets look absolutely wonderful; you did a fantastic job and I love the color! Please don't cheapen the look by putting butcher block countertop vs quartz. With your cabinet color and quartz countetops, it will have the look of a high-end kitchen. Great job!
Because you are renting, I would go with a high quality laminate. They have really improved in the past few years. I would go with butcher block too much potential for damage.
Love the color of the cabinets. I would go with butcher block countertops. When we move into our forever home, I want that color green with butcher block counter tops. Beautiful in my opinion 🥰
Love that colour Green for the kitchen and also the colour of the flooring, the counter tops would look good in a smokey grey colour.. Thanks again for the update on the flip house.. 👍🇦🇺🦘
❤I LOVE THE COLOR OF THE CABINETS WITH THAT FLOORING! Good job Hailey!! 👏🏼🥇🏆 I think a white or marble look counter top would look good! Y’all are doing great! When your house is completed, y’all will really be so excited when you think that all that Reno money started with 20 bucks!!😅 I know it hasn’t been easy but who can say they flipped a whole house for $20.00?? No one!!! But y’all!! 👏🏼🏆🥇🎉😅You don’t have far to go!!!… you can do this!!!…& it’s great content and it’s fun for us!!😂🤓
Love love the color of the cabinets. We remodeled our kitchen and ordered countertops through Lowes using their kitchen design person. We went with a man made solid surface - I think it was Himacs or Corian. Very happy with the price point and the install. It was super durable, did not require any sealing or treatment. No maintenance. I would however not use the same material for the sink (you can buy sink integrated with the countertop) as it was white and stained over time. You may find the solid surface less expensive than natural material or quartz. If your green has warm undertones you may want to go with a creamy white countertops If more gray undertones maybe a white countertop with gray tones. Love the hardware too and nice score! I think with the warm flooring and hardware you may want to go with that off white counter/warm white rather than a super cool white.
Terrific job, Hayley! The kitchen is coming out so nice, not bad for a beginner. You should be very proud of yourself! Can’t wait to see the finished kitchen.
The kitchen cabinets look great. I like the color green too. The house is coming along nicely. Great job !! I have never seen that many plush at the bins I go to and never would have thought that they sell like they do.
Haley you have done a fantastic job on the kitchen, perfect colors, flooring & I know when I'm going to catch up you'll pick a perfect top. This one's your first start to finish kitchen, I'd let you do my kitchen no problem👏👏👏👏👏, mx
Ahh but of course you two got another incredible bins-haul. That's what you do. I'm excited for you. Hayley, your cabinet color choice makes that kitchen very comfortable and inviting. Green is the most soothing color to the human eye, according to color therapy. Yep, it's a thing. : ) Love the flooring also. How about slate-colored cement countertops? They are durable, fairly inexpensive and look fantastic. Maybe check out a couple of vids to DIY them and talk to Dean before deciding.
You guys are so nice! Love the plush, bags, and journals you picked up at the bins. Also think Hayley did a wonderful job on the cabinets! What a change in that kitchen.....
Hey guys. Omg. That plush haul!!!!, the kitchen looks fabulous. Take s piece of floor and a board w the green to look for counter top. It will help you start visualizing how it looks w different price points 😊
Hey Josh, you should screw the face panels to the cupboards. No nails or glue required. Predrill 4 holes through the cupboard first. Then clamp the face panel to the cupboard and screw off. This is also easier with the cupboard doors off. Loving the content all the way from Sydney.
Hayley I think you did awesome job..Love the color it is beautiful.I think Quartz would go good with cabinets. I see why she was so excited about the cabinets. Thanks for showing us. I can't wait to see the rest .Good haul today.
Cabinets look great. I have a lot of rental properties so spend a little more now and go with solid surface material renters tend to ruin cheap counter tops.
Quartz will be your best option. You can get one that has the veinings that would be accentuate the flooring. You’ll need your decide whether you want a tile backsplash or a 3 or 4” accent if the matching quartz. Good luck in your rehab. Linda Mc.
Loving the colour..... thinking painting the back door the same would be nice. Re counters look at the durability of them, you Don't want to replace it to often!
The cabinets are looking good, Hailey. The whole project is and will be a memory for both of you that will be carried the rest of your days. Thumbs up guys!
Awesome job in the kitchen Hayley, the color and flooring is great! I vote for quartz, it's durable and gives a more high end finished look for the kitchen!
I’ve done 2 kitchens :) i do not recommend butcherblock because you need to change it out in the future (mostly water will damage them). Go with laminate or something even more durable if the budget allows 👍❤️😊
I agree! We had new butcher blocks put in when I was a kid and our parents were after us all the time to wipe them down and keep them clean. You have to varnish once a year and if this house is going to be a rental, no way do you want to hope that tenants will keep them nice. As a long time Owner of Rental Properties, in my opinion, you need to use durable materials everywhere. Try not to set the house up as you would want it to be for your own living. You will end up shelling out a lot of money in the long run. Then again, if you are looking to flip the house for sale, that’s a different scenario. Most people however, when buying a home may not want butcher block counter tops. I happen to love them, but for my own personal home. Good luck! It will all work out!
I would go with a chestnut counter top that would look great with the green! Im a kitchen fitter in the uk its a shame your in the u.s i could of gave you spare countertops 😮 Keep it up guys 🎉
Was married to an Interior Designer so I can tell you that Quartz is the most durable and has the least maintenance of the common materials used. Basically, one and done. However, to save a bit of money, you should also look at Granite. Cheaper than Quartz, almost as durable, and for maintenance, you have to seal it once a year. (Simply schedule it when you are doing some sort of "other" work on your house when you rent it. And you will be going in at some point for a repair if you rent a house out.)
Quartz would be a good choice for the counter tops. (Burcher block is going to get damaged by tenants.) A good color would be a beige/tan with flecks of gold to coordinate with your hardware.
Great paint job, Hayley. I'm in the process of planning a kitchen renovation and I have picked a similar color as you. Looking forward to see the finished project.
butcherblock on the counter would be good, either the color of the floor or stained a dark brown. not yellow or orange. are you thinking real wood or formica? some of the formicas look awesome and a good price.
I'm a realtor by trade, and I’d vote for Quartz. From a resale perspective, buyers are loving quartz right now. It’s very durable, comes in some fun patterns, and won’t break the bank like a similar granite pattern might. In a house my wife and I built in Dec 2019, we used a gray quartz on the main countertops and the island got a white quartz. It was pretty cool to see it together and the tile backsplash tied it all in. We sold that house for a healthy profit in 2023 and now have another home with the same beautiful white quartz inside. Can’t go wrong and it’s a hot product right now.
I’m loving the progress with the flip house! The kitchen cabinets look so good Hailey. I think for the countertops live wood would look great it’d really pull it all together!
Granite countertops! I am.so thankful we have them. You have short runs which is a big help. Granite adds value beyond its cost. What have you planned for the stove corner? At the very least, with the help.of your craft person, you can extend the cabinet out and have hidden storage space. We've built 3 very different houses, and I loved them all. We are living in the third now.
Only thing I see as an issue. Is you are best off to not put a cabinet over the counter that opens to the next room. It begins to remove the open concept of the layout. Most people like open concept. There is an alternative out now to quartz countertops that are supposed to be pretty good and cheaper.
I would go really neutral on the countertop because if somebody eventually wants to paint the cabinets, they don’t have to figure out much in the way of matching. I always like warm tones.
Awesome plush haul! Hayley awesome color for the kitchen cabinets. Great job as well! Good seeing Dean, do miss his TH-cam videos, hopes Dean starts up again. House is coming along! Much success and blessings!
I honestly just love the growth of Hayley we have seen over the years now. She exudes joy now that she is comfortable in front of the camera! Her excitement for all the awesome plush and the cool bags she found at the bins was awesome to see, and then her talking about the kitchen she has been working on is just so cool. Agree 100 % !!
You’re so right!! She started out so timid & has just totally blossomed!!❤ God works in many ways!!🙌🏽🙏🏼🎉👏🏼🕊️
Hear, hear! Couldn’t agree more.
She's amazing ❤❤❤
I was thinking exactly the same about her. She’s a natural.
I agree. And near me upscale counter tops/cabinets also gets higher rents. I would go with quartz or marble.
Cabinets even matched her headband.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I had to take a double take to make sure that I wasn't imagining what I was seeing. LOL
One suggestion...have the refrigerator doors switched, to open into the interior of the kitchen and not way from it. Imagine cooking on the stove and having to grab something from the fridge. It should open the other direction.
Quartz is easy to clean. Not as easy to damage . Like marble or butcher block. In my opinion. Love to watch you guys. Just me Bea.
You two have put so much work and care, not to mention $$$ into the house, to prepare it for renting. Now is the time to pray that someone will come along to rent it that loves the place and will take good care of it.

Speaking as a professional painter, Hayley did a great job with the cabinets. 😁
If you are going to rent this I would definately use formica for your kitchen counters. I did my small kitchen and had it put up the wall for backslash, looks great and very reasonable. Choices are endless.

If would go with a nice looking standard Formica counter top. Relatively easy to replace after the tenants mess it up.
Definitely go with quartz countertops. You'll have so many options and some have that subtle green touches that would look beautiful with that gorgeous green cabinet color. Butcher block is kind of high maintenance, especially for a rental property.
I agree with all of this

On camera your cabinets are the exact same color as your headband! 😂
White quartz would be beautiful...this kitchen is amazing. Love the flooring choice as well...great job.❤

Great job with the cabinets Hayley!!!! LOVE the color! I think a white countertop would look the best. Quartz would be beautiful for sure!
It is very sturdy and you can clean it with vinegar and water. I love mine.
Hayley, the kitchen cabinet color is great!! You are super excited and it shows in your smiles and how stoked you are. I love how you two have fans at Goodwill too and they help you both find items to resell. Fun as usual!
It's funny how color comes around again. My mom's kitchen in the 70s was green like that. She painted everything green 😅😅😅
Concrete countertops would look good with your cabinets and since it's a rental property, concrete would be durable.

I would’ve flipped out over those journals!! I give them out as gifts and also write a lot… awesome find!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Wormy Chestnut goes awesome with the green. However I love the rustic outdoorsy look.
Looks great! Love the green 😊 a bottom corner cabinet next to stove would be ideal to not waste space and look more uniform for a kitchen layout.
Hayley you did a beautiful job on the kitchen cabinets. You both should be so proud of yourselves for doing this house flip.
Hey Josh, you should screw the face panels to the cupboards. No nails or glue required. Predrill 4 holes through the cupboard first. Then clamp the face panel to the cupboard and screw off. This is also easier with the cupboard doors off. Loving the content all the way from Sydney.
I love the cabinet colors. From the closeups, the painting detail looks good too. I know that was A LOT of work. Good job!
Hayley I think you did awesome job..Love the color it is beautiful.I think Quartz would go good with cabinets. I see why she was so excited about the cabinets. Thanks for showing us. I can't wait to see the rest .Good haul today.

I do like the color you painted the kitchen cabinets You do do do a very good job paying attention the detail work The entire house budget series

Loving the colour..... thinking painting the back door the same would be nice. Re counters look at the durability of them, you Don't want to replace it to often!
Quartz is always a good choice for upkeep and money. I did a lot of research and choose quartz.
Love the colour of the kitchen cabinets. Happy Birthday. 🌻🌻
You should reverse the refrigerator doors.
The cabinets are looking good, Hailey. The whole project is and will be a memory for both of you that will be carried the rest of your days. Thumbs up guys!
Great job on cabinets! You both are inspiring to say the least! Quartz or lighter colored granite would be beautiful !
The kitchen cabinets are gorgeous!! You guys are doing a fantastic job with this flip house!!
Awesome job in the kitchen Hayley, the color and flooring is great! I vote for quartz, it's durable and gives a more high end finished look for the kitchen!
Like the color of the kitchen cabinets, very nice. Haley great job on the kitchen. God bless stay safe until the next video 💓 😍

I’m amazed at how much pre-owned plush you sell. You have found a good niche that consistently provides decent $.
Love the green for the cabinets. Gorgeous. Great work Haley.
I’m in love with ur cabinets Haley! Great job. I vote butcher block. Ur fan Sher
Yes! I really like the kitchen choices.please go with a Durable counter tops 👍👏
I love the colour of the kitchen units 💚 quartz would look perfect and I really like the flooring you've chosen too. You're doing an amazing job ❤
Absolutely love ❤️ love the rental house kitchen ! Great painting Hayley and the color is fresh. Good job !!
Quartz would be a good choice for the counter tops. (Burcher block is going to get damaged by tenants.) A good color would be a beige/tan with flecks of gold to coordinate with your hardware.
❤ The Green! Looks like a positive color 🎉
CABINETS LOOK GREAT HAYLEY! LOVE THAT YOUR HEADBAND MATCHES TOO!
Hayley - those cabinets look amazing! Great color choices!
For a rental house a fun laminate countertop will be very pretty, lots of options and cheaper to replace.
White countertop and gold handles for the cabinets would look amazing
Great paint job, Hayley. I'm in the process of planning a kitchen renovation and I have picked a similar color as you. Looking forward to
see the finished project.
Quartz 100%. So many more color options.... Just get samples of a color shade you want and bring them into the room and see what they look like.
Our church passed out journals to us to keep sermon notes. We love them!
butcherblock on the counter would be good, either the color of the floor or stained a dark brown. not yellow or orange. are you thinking real wood or formica? some of the formicas look awesome and a good price.

Love what you’re doing with that house! Can’t wait to see it when it’s all finished.
The house looks great and love how your head band matches the paint on the cabinets
Happy Birthday 🎉🎉🎉enjoy your very special day
Cabinet color is amazing 👍🏻
Awesome plush haul! Hayley awesome color for the kitchen cabinets. Great job as well! Good seeing Dean, do miss his TH-cam videos, hopes Dean starts up again. House is coming along! Much success and blessings!
