42 years old and Im still rocking out when I hear this song. You can take the Raver out of the Rave, but you can never take the Rave out of the Raver PLUR
One of my first raves was in a warehouse in Oakland. There was a flyer with an 800 number directing us to a grocery store parking lot where a bunch of candy kids gave us the next clue, to go to yet another grocery store parking lot, where more candy kids directed us to a dark parking lot in the industrial district and told us to wait for a shuttle. A white USPS mail cargo van arrived and the side door slid open. We all climbed into the back and the door slid shut. There was a small 12 inch by 12 inch wire mesh window between us and the driver. My first thought was " well, I hope my kidneys go to a good place..." and someone pulled out a glass bowl to smoke which helped calm me down. Then, T-minus 30 seconds to the destination they said "when the doors open, run across the street and get inside as fast as possible!" It ended up being some kid's birthday inside a gigantic warehouse with a bedroom loft, and Mars and Mystere were the headliners spinning. It was the most underground super secret rave I'd ever been to, and for my very first rave on top of all that. I recall asking my friend that brought me along, "is it always like this?" and he said "No." It blew my mind.
Wow! Now this brings me back! 2nd and Jackson, Maritime Hall, the Crackhouse! Man those were the days!!! Nothing like the SF Bay Area Scene from the late 90's into the early 2000's!!!
Can you imagine if back then a bunch of ravers would have been standing around playing games on their smartphones or on facebook??? LAME!!!!!! It wouldnt have happened WE. KNEW. HOW. TO. LIVE!!! F8/SKills baby, we are all still here......waiting to rise again
mauigio I’m patiently waiting for the day when Mars & Mystre close out an event like they use too. They were the rockstars of the Bay Area!! Everyone else came second in my book
Here it is at How Sweet it is 2000. Look at the crowd go NUTZ! th-cam.com/video/JLhtN3zIBPY/w-d-xo.html @ 4:35 ish What a party, I was there. Those were the days. PLUR.
Being 38 now listening to this gave me alot of flashbacks to a time when I was young and didn't have a care in the world, I saw them in Coachella back in 2000
Oh man, I remember the first time I heard this. Namely, it was in 1999 where this local radio station had a program where on Saturday nights at 10:00 they would play all electronic music. I stumbled upon it at random when I happened to turn on the radio. My dad was in the room playing on the computer and while I liked all the songs they played, when this one came on I kept saying "I REALLY like this one!"
Bootlebat I remember that. It was on 949. 105.3 also did the same on Friday nights. It was the only time I played the radio and Hiphop wasn’t playing in my car.
Wow really brings back memories.. those were the days.. speaker huggers.. I use to go nuts to the breaks in this set.. I'd be dancing for hours only stopping for water.. battling.. glow sticks.. hug.. the excitement of the drive to the party, people in cars waving glow sticks at us.. people asking me "What are you on" my reply, "Nothing" .. "Coffee".. and seeing they're face respond.. "Priceless".. because I would dance and really feel the music.. liquid dance.. all that jazz.. man i miss it.
😢omg 1999 Bay Area still 8n high school..first rave track I loved..I remember being blown by this song and the whole crowd would cheer when the track would peak...
God I miss this track. Thank you for posting it. Brings back so many great memories and reminds me of the person I should've (and will once again) become.
and 2nd and Jackson, and Martime Hall. But......that sound when you walked into Home Base...that boo boo boo bom boOM BOOM BOOM BOOMFKNBOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM WHAT THE HOLY FKN AWESOME
@rojoman314kgb Holy crap. That was my first massive: Got there at 11pm, got in at 12am, dropped at 1:30 am, party ended at 7am, went to work at 9am...one of the best nights of my life.
F8, skillz, homebase, still remember someone coming up to me and asking me to close my eyes and imagine this for a moment: a world without any condemnation or guilt. For a moment, I felt so released of everything. Later I found a much more concrete version of that, it’s actually true! Hebrews chapter 10 verse 17 says God no longer remembers our sin. So if I still torment myself over something, well that’s just the devil playing tricks. All condemnation and guilt was nailed to the cross 2,000 years ago and all the bad stuff has been nailed to the cross. We just gotta believe we are “perfected forever” like what it says in Hebrews chapter 10 verse 14
I went to so many Mars&Mystre raves back in the day... this shit takes me back. One of my all time favorite rave tracks... I lost my shit the first time I heard it live.
I remember this song dropping at my first rave at BG Civic Center POP4. What a time to be alive. My friends and I just finished smoking a blunt and my pill finally hit. I remember this song playing and the crowd went crazy. And I remember coming home at 1PM and my parents knew I was on drugs...lol
21 years on is it time to go again? Who's still tuna'd in? This Frequency of ❤️ must be celebrated. Is 2nd and Jackson still there? Perhaps Jimmy's shine room at the Maritime Hall? Can this be done? ..the Frequency is upon us. There's no height, though any reunion must be a phone amnesty event. We have lasers and strobes and without ya phone, us, in the present. We can hold hands or rave sticks, not a screen. :) Celebrate life and our path that led us from Mars & Mystre's vision back in 1998. I was there, helped a bunch of ravers sneak in past the barbwire fence, up a long and thin ladder shaft, around through the back in through the mens bathroom window, to heaven. Ahh the things we did on some great frikin EEEE. You're right when this song came on##$%***%W$%$#$ RIDICULOUS!!!!
yup.. we'd laugh at calling people crackheadz especially after the partys seeing the "cracked out ones".. hahaha.. since I was sober I'd always be more aware and yeah, it was funny.. but not so funny .. miss Maritime Hall.. homebase.. once helped set up the art and decor.. so much fun .. climbing onto one of those lifts and draping huge cloth murals on the ceiling.. Mars & Mystre .. I would go nuts waiting for the breakdowns.. with they'd repeat the breaks.. :) head knodding @4:40!! yeeeahhh!!
i STILL go apeshit when Mars (or whoever) drops this. ahh... my snowboard pants + neon colored shirt + white hats + glowstick days. too many bro's now.
Maritime Hall!!! Yes I remember!! I use to help set up the party's just to get in for free.. .. Crackhouse!!! hahaha I remember using the same term!lol
