    ★★★ ABOUT US ★★★
    EWI Store are the insulation and render specialists. We offer a range of BBA-approved render and EWI systems, providing both the quality materials and technical know-how to help installers achieve a standout result.
    EWI Store offer full-system insulation solutions for external walls. Covering EPS, Mineral Wool and Wood Fibre insulation, the performance of our materials is guaranteed. Our BBA-approved insulation systems are proven to dramatically improve the thermal efficiency and external appearance of a building, providing bespoke solutions for the requirements of any property.
    Our Mineral Wool system uses Rockwool to dramatically reduce U-values. Our specialist coloured renders are then applied on top of the insulation to create a decorative, protective finish, or they can be applied without insulation as a standalone render system.
    When you choose EWI Store, we offer next day delivery on all orders, and our technical support team are available for all queries and installation guidance.
    ► CALCULATOR
    Use our EWI solid wall insulation materials calculator to calculate exactly what materials you will need for a particular job.

    ► EWI PRO TRAINING CENTER
    We are delighted to have updated our training facilities in our Chessington branch! The new Training Centre will enable us to demonstrate all of the detailed aspects of rendering and installing external wall insulation with our technical experts. Attending a training session means that you can walk out a certified installer. That means that we can pass on customer leads to you, offer you better discounts and better warranties.

    Cold bridging around the external window reveals and potentially between the joins of the insulation. Ideally the joins should be sealed or foamed to help prevent this happening.

    Hello, could you advise what kind of bead to use to make nice border line on semi detached house or just to use a corner bead?
    Do I need to use a base track with clip drip beads around the roof line on one story extension and what width to leave between roof tiles where lead work and eps on the wall. Using 50mm eps. 1.5mm render. Thanks in advance

    I got old house where a wooden beam sits ontop of walls throughout house. Then the roof sits ontop of that? Would i get any thermal gain by adding it onto the wooden beam? The beam seems to be thick enough to keep nice thermal delta.

      There are two ways - 1. You can extend the roofline or 2. Install a robust capping profile or verge trim. You need to double check if you are going via a funding scheme as they may only allow option 1.

      Hey EWI, I also got a client who's got a down pipe. The normal plastic plugs that screw into the insulation won't hold properly. I'm thinking of using 150mm wall screws to hold the down pipe bracket. So that the screw can go through the 90mm insulation and Into the wall. What do you recommend?

    After the Grenfell Tower disaster some insurance companies are requesting any external cladding system used must be made from a fire resistant material. Polystyrene insulation while different from what was installed at Grenfell, is being seen as a potential fire spread risk. Small numbers of mortgage lenders are now insisting this is removed from any building before agreeing to any sale. The insurance industry sees any suspect cladding material as too risky and will refuse cover.

    • @nigelsmith1198
      @nigelsmith1198 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lee Thornton, I asked EWI store about this subject as I’m halfway through putting it on my place.! Once rendered the system is difficult to ignite so can’t see why insurance companies are being a pain in the Arse.! It’s one of the most used materials for external insulation.

    • @leethornton6395
      @leethornton6395 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nigelsmith1198 Hi Nigel yes it will be very difficult to ignite and the risk especially on low rise properties to occupants would appear minimal. In the organisation I work for we are having to survey all our low rise buildings that have cladding and in the very near future probable the houses with cladding also. As a company the insurance of the buildings is a major issue and we will be unable to cover the buildings if the insurance firms see any potential risk. You only have to look at the problems asbestos caused in buildings and insurance firms refused any cover if there was a potential risk so certain types of asbestos had to be removed. This is all an ongoing issue but you can be sure if a building with cladding went up in flames and the cladding was known to be a risk and not removed any insurance cover could in the future be void. Has we stand now nothing has been finalised but be aware even if the risk is low the cost of getting insurance could be very high sometime in the future. At the moment it is all in a state of flux.

    Looks like a good system but has a major flaw , what happens if you need to replace the window? This system does not allow for that as the base coat and thin coat both encroach on the window frame . Not good 👎

    • @stegra5960
      @stegra5960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But that's the case with all rendering. Windows are generally cut out and the replacement measured to fit between the render, ideally slightly wide and shuffled in before being screwed to the sill. If the frame is narrow on the inside, trims are used, but they're normally used anyway.
