How do giants improve by only 1 game by getting rid of all their bad players signing blake snell, jung hoo lee, matt chapman, jorge soler, jordan hicks, murphy, etc
Everyone improved outside of the padres but I still think they are better than the giants. Did you see what the dodger did? Vegas has the giants at 83.5 wins after signing snell. Personally, snell is a bad signing. He’s had two good years. The others have all been below league average. If you are below league average then you are a bad starter. His metrics suggest regression. Chapman has been trending down for awhile now.
The dodgers deferring that much of his contract should be against league rules. You want to talk about competitive balance, allowing players to sign for that much money and then deferring 90% of it just destroys all semblance of competitive balance.
Who actually cares? Any team can do it. However, they are going to be paying for it and having it count against the cap long after he is playing and good luck trying to unload him if you reach the point where you want to go full rebuild.
You do realize that the player had to agree to deferring their salary to a later date, right? The Dodgers couldn’t have deferred the amount of money from Ohtani’s contract without his approval. And every team has the ability to defer contract money - it’s not like the Dodgers are doing something that other teams can’t do.
After watching what Terry Francona did in Cleveland, I think you are selling short the Council effect with the Cubs. Good managers are worth some wins. Cleveland will be interesting as I expect Cleveland to finish strong this year once Manzardo and DeLauter get called up (that is if Delauter doesn't make opening day roster.). The worry will be the pitching this year. bullpen will start cold because of injuries and worries about the kids having a sophmore slump. Love the channel.
