Yes, thank you so much, Earnest Pugh, I really appreciate your comments about and it is true the Stellar Awards needs to make sure that they pay homage and don't forget those Gospel Artists that paved the way.
Ernest Pugh your worship is amazing and in my opinion "underrated". And this interview and your stance shows why I goes all the way in on your songs. Especially "Leaning"
I totally agree with Mr.Ernest Pugh. There is no need to conform. We already have a BET Awards. The Stella Awards need to remain The Stellar Awards.Mjnistry is always important.
I agree with Earnest Pugh! I have been saying this for a long time. We can have great lighting, great clothes and sound without being like the world. We are to live in the world but not be apart of the world. God light has to shine. ✨️ I love all types of gospel music. We can't forget what the purpose is for.
I totally agree with Earnest Pugh, Include The Quartets, the Choir's & the Queen Of Gospel ShirleyCaesar, etc - Le'AndriaJohnson Saved the night with Her Anointed Golden Voice Of Deliverance,She's Awesome,Awesome,Awesome....
It really was. I heard many people did not like what she was saying before she died but not sure if this was the reason or not. Regardless, they still should have honored her.
Stella is Stale!! it is entertainment instead of the spirit now!!! We need to remember this is about God and spreading the gospel through radio, song and social media and reaching the world for Jesus!!🙏🏾
I agree. I want to feel like the anointing came in there. I ain't trying to be entertained. I want the true "Church Experience". I want to be face down on the floor. I am a Praise Dancer and some songs... When we danced to, "In the Middle of It", by Issac Caree -- yeah that was cute. But when we danced to Step Aside by Tamela Man. I could not see and snot was running out of my nose. LOL! Jesus showed up.
We are in the world but not of the world. There needs to be a distinction from what we do as opposed to what the world is doing. Time and time again Israel lost their way and the glory of God the Lord departed when Israel tried to adapt to the world's way. Just because something is moving doesn't mean we are progressing. When Christ is no longer the center of our message and his image is not represented clearly, we have compromised our values and message for fame and fortune. I agree with Ernest Pugh. If we don't seek Christ first, our message is lost as well as the people Christ has called us to minister to. We are not the BET awards. We are about the business of the Kingdom of Christ. We are not like everyone else nor should we subscribe to be.
Yes I agree...there was too much skin shown, too much weave, too much make-up, too much of "what the world looks like". Larry even likened someone's gown to being equivalent to what's worn at the Met Gala. THAT comparison ALONE, speaks volumes. The Met Gala is nothing more than a pagan orgy. Any and EVERY kind of god is worshiped and praised through the attendees attire.
I agree. I had to turn it off on some of the parts because it did not agree with my spirit. I was thinking no wonder the world is staying in the mess that it is in.
I really enjoyed this conversation and the Stellars should be a night of the ole and new school. Also have a Memorandum each year to honor those that have gone on to glory in the last year💯
I know you have your own battles to fight but could you join in prayer with me and lift up actress Anne Heche as she hovers between life and death. My prayer is that she would reach God if she has to cross over may she depart in peace with no debts unsettled.
james. tye, campbell all that was a mess, gospel is not doing anything worldy, rapping, etc..I dont care what people say it was horrible.. Yes they trying be like this hip hop generation and this is not it..Ashame on God and his 📖period
What a great conversation! Thank you for sharing. I like both sides of Gospel music but I lean towards old school & proud of it. Haven’t watched the Stellar Awards in YEARS.
Earnest Pugh is ON POINT. But Larry is Making Earnest point that folks are looking for a Show. We are looking for Inspiration and ORIGINAL Gospel Content that took time to make, Have something Spiritual to say, not just Thrown together with Samples and brief Vamp loops that sound like it only took an hour to make.
Well, I don’t think God EVER intended for Gospel music to be about entertainment, rather praise and worship. So while God IS doing a new thing and a new level of excellence is arising in product and the quality in which this project is presented , which is good, please don’t lose the essence of worship and truth to appeal to the world in the way that won’t truly draw, rather entertain only. Everything new, is not God, everything old was not and is not God. Those that are leading must lead with discernment but more importantly relationship with God.
I remember when Andrea Crouch & The Disciples came on the scene. They got rebuked so much for bringin Gospel Music FUNKY! But I also saw him ministering and people throw their cigarettes on stage or walk up to the stage in tears and they had to stop and pray with the people. I just hope in all this transition we remember the souls of them that need it.
As a keeper of the history of gospel music who has offered a news paltform for gospel artist for nearl 20 years, I appreciate te growth as I know and have beenarry, you are litereally saying the church should look like the world. The Stellars was full dipped in BET Awards DNA and eavily CONTEMPOARY. HOWEVER, I agree with both of you on several points. BAKANCE IS TE KEY. We must focus on drawint ALL MEN regardless of all oter elements. I personally fellt that the atmosphere was worshipful and could tell tat the audience was enaged in te ministr aspects. We have come a long way and ave a long way to go. Unfortunately, as an extension of "the church" gospel artists don't have a lot of time to get this right. Blessings on blessings to you!
For years Gospel Hip Hop was excluded, and they finally made it known we are here because Hip Hop is inclusive.. If people can’t sing they can talk and possibly rap
I agree. I’m interested to see if this same level of advocacy will be done in reverse. When platforms attempt to block new sound, will these same voices say we need the balance, we need the whole gospel?
I thought the Stellars was supposed to be an AWARD show and not a Sunday morning church service. I thought it was supposed to showcase ALL genres of Gospel music 🎶 not just that old traditional.
But that's just the problem... The Stellars was like any other Award Show. There's supposed to be a CLEAR distinction between the "things of God", vs the things of the world. At least with "old traditional" gospel music, you get that distinction.
I totally agree. Gospel is a diverse genre and yet that is not exemplified or honored. Personally, I do not believe that awards are necessary in Gospel music. It lends to the shiestiness and carnality that is apparent in the industry. Are there awards for the best or more popular preachers? Should an award be given to the largest congregations? Why are we awarded people for doing ministry through song? It should not be so. It should be a celebration of Gospel and all types of Gospel music should be acknowledged, respected, and enjoyed.
Every generation says the same thing about the generations of music that comes afterwards… From the Hawkins “Oh Happy Day, the Clark Sisters “You Brought The Sunshine” Tremaine Hawkins “Fall Down” The Winans, Commissioned… They all were called not gospel because they sounded different from the generations before them…. He can feel how he wants to feel, but the fact is that it will change again where the current Artists may feel the same way
Truth!!! I am usually on board with the transitions. I recall when Tye Tribbett first came out, my former Pastor was against it being played in the church for a dance selection. Looking back Tye is not considered this radical change of gospel compared to the newer counterparts.
I have to agree with Earnest Pugh in that the Stellar awards (I'm going a little further than Earnest), has turned into the BET awards. There was NO PRAISE in those dances. James 1:8-10, James 4:8, Luke 16:13, Matthew 6:24…we all had better be sure we know what side of this fence we’re on because He’s definitely not going to accept straddling!
I believe this message is somehow speaking that the young people who are mostly rappers are not anointed, I don’t agree. We should not disregard the old landmarks however, we should not discount the new! I enjoyed the conversation but i have a lot of mixed feelings as to where i think the church of today is heading. I really think we have lost our first love and now that has taken 2nd or even 3rd place. It seems like the 1st love of the church is the world influence and offer more than the spirit of God. To things we used to fear certain things like how we dress and talk it's become as nothing and if we think God will stand by and say it's ok then the church has a lot to answer. So true. I had stopped watching the Stellar awards because it was so badly constructed in the past. This last one was well put together like the Grammys.
I don't even understand what the problem is, traditional gospel music is not going anywhere. The Stellar Awards is for entertainment!! Did we forget that, the awards show is not church! I loved the new version, it was family tv!!
I enjoy the old gospel better then the new age it has more spirit to feed my soul.
Me too!
It does give a feel but in a way we have to help, lead and show the younger generation !!!
Yes sir Brother Earnest Pugh, you are speaking the absolute TRUTH💯💯...that's it ...that's ALL!!!
Yes, thank you so much, Earnest Pugh, I really appreciate your comments about and it is true the Stellar Awards needs to make sure that they pay homage and don't forget those Gospel Artists that paved the way.
The Stellar Award show was a mess. It was really sad that they did not honor La Shaun and Duranice Pace. A shame
I didn’t watch at all but you all absolutely right. Smh
Beyonce was missing
Ernest Pugh your worship is amazing and in my opinion "underrated". And this interview and your stance shows why I goes all the way in on your songs. Especially "Leaning"
After watching this video I agree with Earnest now, this Issue happens in all states !!! But have something to for everybody and not forget God !!!!
I agree 100% with Ernest Pugh he was bold enough in the HolyGhost to speak; what is in the heart of those of us who love God and gospel music..
I totally agree with Mr.Ernest Pugh. There is no need to conform. We already have a BET Awards. The Stella Awards need to remain The Stellar Awards.Mjnistry is always important.
THE STELLAR AWARDS WAS NOTHING BUT the BET MUSIC AWARDS!!! HE ABSOLUTLEY RIGHT!!!! Really sad!!!!
Ernest Pugh is on point. We have fallen so far away from holiness. The wardrobe, the music, more entertainment than Godliness.
I agree with Earnest Pugh! I have been saying this for a long time. We can have great lighting, great clothes and sound without being like the world. We are to live in the world but not be apart of the world. God light has to shine. ✨️ I love all types of gospel music. We can't forget what the purpose is for.
What the problem is some times they are letting the world dress them. 🙏
Ernest was 💯 percent correct.
Great point of view from Minister Ernest Pugh. Let's not forget where we came from.
Not honoring Lashun Pace was blatantly disrespectful!!!! And the Williams Brothers!
I agree with him. Felt like it was a gospel hip hop awards🤣🤣🤣
Earnest Pugh is correct. The sound was missing. Maverick and his team did an excellent job. I felt the anointing from them.
I agree
No mention of LaShun Pace was shameful.
It really was. I heard many people did not like what she was saying before she died but not sure if this was the reason or not. Regardless, they still should have honored her.
It's the flesh sold out by the world standard.
Stella is Stale!! it is entertainment instead of the spirit now!!! We need to remember this is about God and spreading the gospel through radio, song and social media and reaching the world for Jesus!!🙏🏾
I agree with you Ernest Pugh, Show all types of gospel.
Loud and clear. Thnx
😂 He’s not lying.
I agree! I love the new stuff, but you don't have to get rid of the old. The old is our foundation!
I agree. I want to feel like the anointing came in there. I ain't trying to be entertained. I want the true "Church Experience". I want to be face down on the floor. I LOVE THE SONG HOSANNA!!!!!!

Do things in decency & order. If you Worship in spirit & truth it will come through the music.
Thank you Mr. Pugh...continue bringing your style of music 🎶 🎵 🙌 ❤️ 👌! God bless you sir.
They have no anointing! That’s the problem. So busy trying to get numbers and not souls! We live in the world but not of it! That’s the problem!
I agree. I had to turn it off on some of the parts because it did not agree with my spirit. I was thinking no wonder the world is staying in the mess that it is in.
I really enjoyed this conversation and the Stellars should be a night of the ole and new school. Also have a Memorandum each year to honor those that have gone on to glory in the last year💯
Everything about this award show was worldly.
Yes, so carnal. Made me think about how Kingdom Business depicts the industry. So sad.
Sad Truth 😔
That’s why I wasn’t interested to watch
Absolutely 💯!!
Love Earnest Pugh. He's honest. And love the pivot
I totally agree with Earnest Pugh!!
Agreed… they need to learn how to include all eras! Old school gospel is amazing and should not be eliminated.
I loved and agreed with everything he said. Every single word.
Now I love this Interview between Larry Reid and Earnest Pugh❤️🙏💯👍
Love Love Love Mr Pugh
I know you have your own battles to fight but could you join in prayer with me and lift up actress Anne Heche as she hovers between life and death. My prayer is that she would reach God if she has to cross over may she depart in peace with no debts unsettled.
Amen 🙏🏾
I've been praying for her. It's terrible what happened to her.
I am just praying for the kingdom
As whole. The Stellar was simply the BET awards.

Now this was a great convodernsation Ernest Pugh is crazy!!!!!
love ole school gospel

I'm not stuck in the old days but I love those type of songs. Now it's like hmmm I'll hush
Earnest Pugh 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 facts. It no longer seems like gospel

Bring it all together ❤
I agree 💯
You better speak the truth my brothers
I agree with E. Pugh
Are we going to conform or transform?
Exactly. I love it
I agree wholeheartedly!
That man got some pretty teeth and smile
Leandria and Fantasia snatches my edges every time I listen to them.
I thought the Stellars was supposed to be an AWARD show and not a Sunday morning church service. I thought it was supposed to showcase ALL genres of Gospel music 🎶 not just that old traditional.

Erica Mason did an amazing job last night! She actually reaches the younger generation and that is what’s needed!
Do you REALLY believe the younger generation is coming to Christ, through the new style of gospel music?
I got what he was putting down. We need 2 hours..... THE MERGE
I hear U well
The wrong ppl are orchestrating these Gospel events.
Right!!!! Excellent point
My cousin and I was talking about this When Did Dancers Start Dance While We Did Praise And Worship ?
I hear you well.
I missed it 😔
Watch and pray its warfare time even music
It seems like the Dove awards has become more diverse than the Stellars in the since of it having something for everyone.
Larry you’re talking about clothes sir.
I have to agree with Earnest Pugh in that the Stellar awards (I'm going a little further than Earnest), has turned into the BET awards. There was NO PRAISE in those dances. It was hard to feel the spirit in watching the awards show. It would have been nice to hear more ministry. I love Pastor Mike, Marvin Sapp, Tamela Mann and Kirk Franklin at the end (I know I'm missing some folks) but they addressed the REASON for the awards......GIVING HONOR TO GOD. IMO
I can hear you
James 1:8-10, James 4:8, Luke 16:13, Matthew 6:24…we all had better be sure we know what side of this fence we’re on because He’s definitely not going to accept straddling!
I believe this message is somehow speaking that the young people who are mostly rappers are not anointed, I don’t agree. We should not disregard the old landmarks however, we should not discount the new! Commissioned escorted me back to Christ and their sound at the time was challenged by the gospel artists at the time. So let’s examine the reach! Having Church is not evangelizing
Gospel music is the only form of music that incorporates all genres of music. Country gospel. Hip hop gospel etc. But be mindful of Romans 12:2.
The gospel was meant to be about Jesus not caring about the lime light on us. We worship men more than the creator. I remember when people didn't have great voices but the holy ghost fell and lives was changed and not just a feel good factor as most songs today are a quick fix like someone shooting up drugs.
But the Stellars for years didn’t showcase contemporary and hip hop artists now that they got a year to shine it’s a problem…smh
Earnest Pugh should have already been majoring in ministry. Why did it take the stellar awards choosing to upgrade and expand their artistry and audience to convince to major in ministry?
Larry i love you all I have to do is to listen when you speak and I will get my confirmation of what the Holy Spirit said
This was not a gospel show. This is just my opinion. The women host looked like they were at a rock concert instead of a gospel show. Their were two singers that were anointed. Marvin Sapp and Tamla Brown. I have nothing against the younger singers, but there were not enough old choirs or gospel singers. I know we a Christian want to look good. Central City has come a long way since they started back in Nashville, however, their team is rather one sided new approach could be improved if they have a voice on their team that lend to the ideas presented in the conversation. Dr. Holly Carter has the MERGE Summit- maybe she should get involved.
My thing is, why are we trying to look like the world? Why do we need to mimic the BET Awards or the Grammy's? Doesn't us trying to look like the other shows go directly against scripture? We're supposed to be separated. We're supposed to be set apart. We're supposed to be "peculiar", so why are we trying to look like the world?
Earnest Pugh accused them of Idolatry for ratings but said he meant no harm ??? Loooop
Hey Friend. Break it down @EP
There has to be a difference
👋🏾✌🏾♥️Heya
Respect to the past the older song feel good to the spirit. However I remember back when I was real religious I was trying to not listen to secular and I was asking God for some bass.😂😂😂 Then I was introduced to Lecrae, Andy, Trip Lee…etc. and I was excited.
Now a days I don’t care. My favorite songs are those mixed with old school it’s amazing.
It is time to move to the side and let the new generation handle it. This is a reflection of how most of the churches we see today are. They want the young folks there, BUT continue to do it OUR way. He is sugar coating it like just respect us….etc. No he wants it back.
I’m back in the church just because I miss singing, BUT I would love to do the Tasha Cobbs Nicki Minaj song, they would never and that makes me sad.
I agree
I think it’s necessary to embrace the new and the old. We can’t complain about young people are not coming to church if we don’t do anything to help bring them in.

Y’all!!! What post is Earnest referring to when he said the people were saying they turned the channel?
You guys may want to check your facts prior to giving non facts
Stellar Awards On BET Delivers Massive Ratings
The BET award was amazing you’re right it felt like the BET award are those other award it was well put together well done picture quality stage everything was amazing amazing it’s only old people are complaining it was amazing
You right!!( call me let's do what we do i say the same thing
The fashion were a mass to me. What was that black dress. A mass.
That shit was a mass. But they sound was good 👍
I agree with Ernest Pugh. The visuals were better but some of the performances were not that great.
