I'm a long telephoto lover, looking for a lens that can span from standard to at least 300mm focal length after I bought my a7CII. Discovering this lens in the past two days, I watched a lot of test reviews. You used it to shoot beautiful images, which made me decide to buy it.😍
Thank Kensei for an HONEST review of Tamron 50-300mm f4.5-6.3. I love it when you disclose you're not sponsored by Tamron. You also reveal its disadvantage that it's not suitable for vlogging.
Looks like this is a replacement for their 70-300, it's good that they seem to have fixed the issues with that lens. I'd like to see it in Z mount too. Looks like the perfect lens in terms of weight and focal length for telephoto landscapes. Always found the 100-400s and 70-200s were either too big and the focal length wasn't versatile enough.
What issues? The 70-300 has superb image quality, more light entering the lens up to focal 240 than the 55-300, it is sharp and no chromatic aberration. I have parkinson and the photo are always sharp by keeping rule shutter 1/focal distance, so 1/250 or 1/300 at max focal. Some of my best photo come from this lens. Ibis work great for photo, in videos at max the best is to use a support to stabilize. The 50-300 seems excellent but the 70-300 is fantastic as well.
Thank you so much for the video, Hopefully you can help me with my decision. I am a total beginner with a A7C, Viltrox 16mm 1.8 (for night astro), Sony 55mm 1.8, Laowa 100mm 2.8 macro and the kit lens 28-60....I had been thinking in a zoom lens for travel photography, zoo and id like a lens i could use in a Formula 1 track. Which one would you recommend me to buy??? right now the 50-300 is at 1,100 CAD and the 50-400 is 1,474 CAD and altough there is a $$ difference, 30% difference in cost is not the end of the world. Which one would you recommend me to buy???
Been looking for a telephoto lens for my A6700. Do you think this one is a good option over Sony 70-350mm? If not, what are some of your preferred options? I own Viltrox 27mm F1.2, Sigma 56mm F1.4 and Sigma 18-50mm so I believe this one might be a good addition to cover the range I need for my travel photography. Agrigatou gozaimashita Akatsu san.
But 200mm for wildlife is too short. 300 is the minimum. But for travel you cannot do all with 50-300, you need a wide angle 17-28 or a 20-40. However with 28-200 you can adjust to all scenario.
Uh - Tamron 28-200 F/2.8-5.6. I have that lens and it's super great for a wide range of uses. If I am on the plane and going somewhere, one lens and that's the one I take.
@@CC-gt3ro I own Sony 70-350 mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS. Coming from 100-400 GM, Tamron 50-400 still feels super light. I just don't want to sacrifice extra 100mm (150mm in A7R5 26mp crop). Any lens ending at 300mm will make me buy 200-600.
@@2000sidhupunjab for sure a 50-400 on a7c is already giving 600mm in video and photo at 10 mpx which is enough to print 5x7 or even 8,5x10. So on a7rV i cannot imagine, the crop 26mpx is already superior to my 24mpx a7c.
Too bad. One reviewer said the 50-400 has better optical quality and features. If all you are concerned about is the weight then you made the right decision.
@@Princeton_Jamesi have seen images comparaison magnified and 70-300 and 50-300 and 50-400 produce nearly the same images. I could not distinguish any difference except the latest two have a 50mm half macro that could be useful. The 50-300 is to my opinion the most complete if we consoder quality/focal length/weight/stability/price. The 70-300 is fantastic at 499$ USD. 50-400 is good for bird or paparazzi work but it is heavy and bigger. The 50-300 seems today the right choice. But i am very happy with the 70-300.
I work for production houses. Most clients wont notice the difference in image quality between a Sony GM or a Tamron. U're safe buying cheaper glasses

Great review!! Might pick up one for events!
any comments if compare to the Sony 70200f4G2? i got an a7Cii and looking for a tele lens for my up coming travel. thanks in advance 😊
could you please try it on a APSC camera ? An 1kg combo would make it to (equivalent) 450mm😢😢

Stay tuned in upcoming videos!
This one or Tamron 28-200? Which one would you pick?
nice new hair style ! !
Thank you! Cheers!

Thank you for your nice review ! What do you think of 70-200 f4 macro + 1.4tc combination (even if it’s double the price..) compared with this lens ?
The Sony lens is sooo good.
Nice clip, I have one question. I'm using FX30. Can I use this lens instead of 70-350 for APC cameras?
Of course you can!

Can you compare thid with tamron 28-200 f2.8 - 5.6
Interesting!!
Wondering about that too. 28-200 has 2.8 at 28mm

Awesome intro!
Thanks!
Amazing video as always! Please use metric system 😞😞😞
Thank you!!
I will next time 😀
Super useful!
Super thankful
waiting for this on a z mount :)
This or sony 70-350?
Aps-c vs FF
make a canon r8 video
How is this MOST versatile when 50-400 exist from same brand with same aperture.
You grab it, then you know it
Range and Weight as a package. This is almost half the weight of the 50-400.
I have the super lightweight 70-300 at 545g. Try both and go hiking and you will see the light..

I think 50-400 weights around 1200g
