This needs to be demoed in a mix. Compressors really shine in light of the whole ensemble of highs, mids, and lows all mixed together with competing noise levels, similar to testing out an EQ.
The pedal has some other tone knobs, my guess is that all the tonal changes are also from this same pedal. He's not showing off how any compressor sounds, he's selling his product and showing off what it can do for your bass sound.

Direct Passive signals sound like that. Everything you've ever listened to and liked on an album has multiple real or emulated preamps, compressors, microphones, speaker cabinets.

Nice demo and I like that you have good tone dry too, most of these I prefer with compressor on most I can imagine someone preferring the dry tone
